Is 11 years too old for a car?
I have a chance to buy an 06 Toyota Corolla. 85k miles, has never been in an accident and gets regular maintenance. 3rd party mechanic said the car was more or less in perfect condition.
$4k
I feel like I should go for it, but my only concern is the car's age.
>>16644654
Seriously?
You'd be lucky to talk to someone here that has a car newer than 20 years old.
>>16644663
Yeah really.
I don't want to do this again in 5 years
Hello /o/ this is my first post on here and I come bearing the question what is the best method on wrapping your car or parts of your car? Which suppliers offer the best wraps for reasonable prices and any tips for the steps and techniques used in getting a clean wrap on your car.
>>16644611
I drive a 99 Mitsubishi 3k GT all white and would like to wrap:
>spoiler
>side view mirrors
>roof panel
>lips in the front bumper (small parts)
Any info much appreciated
>>16644620
You can't wrap your own car. It will look like shit. You are going to have to pay someone to do it.
>>16644700
they are small parts, I'd do it 10x over and get it right than pay someone the extra cash for it
Serious question. You can pick one up for about 15k here in australia, it's not fast but you're not buying it for that.
Is there any other car (that's new, im not talking older shit) you can pick up 2nd hand that's less than 5 years old that has this much POTENTIAL?
Buy the car for 15 (cheaper if you haggle)
>2k on tires, something really grippy like toyo proxes or ad08r
>Lightweight rims, 2-3k for less unsprung weight
>Quality coilovers, 4k
At this point, it will outhandle FUCKTONS of cars. But it's still dogshit on power, right?
Take your pick of engine, you can put a ls, 2jz, porsche flat 6, even a rotary in depending on your taste. People are doing these swaps left right and center, meaning there are now kits for them and it's cheap to do so.
Say the engine swap costs you another 20k. (it most likely will be less if you do the work yourself).
You now have a super light, really good handling and very fucking fast in a straight line car.
For about 45k, you can easily have something putting out 600+ at the wheels that handles well and you can be proud you've built yourself.
>>16644572
I get the base car sucks, it needs a lot of work. But just keep an open mind about the route of modifying one, it's a fantastic platform with a great chassis.
The only similar thing i can see is a miata, but they're not exactly hardtops and don't have the same rigidity.
You'll get your money's worth if you make the car you dream of instead of waiting for someone else to build it.
>>16644572
>Is the 86 the greatest tuner car of this generation
Yes, but there haven't been that many to begin with. It's going up against the Miata, RX-8 and Z33/4 here, and Renesis a shit and getting anything more out of a VQ is a nightmare because it's a highly strung high compression engine. Maybe throw in used BMWs for the FR/manual combo and similar prices after depreciation.
It'd have trouble standing out against its 90s Jap shitbox predecessors, but given a lack of competition in the last decade it's pretty unmatched.
>>16644649
That's what i believe. I think in the last decade it's got so little competition for tuner platforms, all the other tuner platforms are expensive shit like the GTR and TT lambos or american muscle.
This is dirt cheap with POTENTIAL.
Swap almost everything but the chassis and it can be a monster.
Hi /o/. What cars have you found work best for extreme snow conditions? (200+ annual inches of snowfall per winter). I am looking at a 10-15k price range
lifted 4x4 truck
not a fucking jeep, that's for sure
>>16644364
OK, what do YOU use then?
How many tools do you need to fix a car?
>>16644330
Enough

Two or three, I dunno

Really regret buying this car, CVT is really lame. Did I fuck up /o/?
Holy shit kill yourself already
Guess it depends what you want out of the car. As a simple commuter I don't see anything wrong with a CVT. My friend is a point A to B driver and he loves the CVT in his Versa. What did you expect out of it? Did you test drive the other autos or manuals?

>Why are you sat at home alone on a friday night?
At work towing shitboxes as I am every friday
>Why aren't you out at the meets with your bros or >gf?
Bros not into car shit and meets here are scrape contests.
Implying I have a hf
>What are your car related plans for the weekend?
Wash car and bike, ride bike, contemplate plugging my rear tire on the bike or just ridding it with the nail still in it. Super slow leak and tire is pretty much brand new
your car > whores

I'm here every Friday night.
>Why aren't you out at the meets with your bros or >gf?
I'm going to blame the snow this week.
>What are your car related plans for the weekend?
If it's warm enough, I might wash the salt off my Civic. It might rain too though, so not sure on that one.
>your car > whores
Agreed.
>post waifu
Posting what I want, as usual.
Oh, and I have a new front door now! I think I mentioned that last week when I was trying to not electrocute myself installing a new oven.
SO. How 'bout the supercharged VR6 motorcycle that is the Horex?
It's also legitimately TOHC.
Intake ports go THROUGH the valvecover.
Intercooled centrifugal supercharger!
what is this
The cooling fluid cap
>>16644050
are you sure
>>16643999
Valve cover breather.
What's a good car stereo I can get for around $200-250?
Live in Australia, if that matters at all.
>>16643991
A replacement stock one.
>>16644086
I don't think I'd know where to get a stock R34 stereo.
And besides, I need one with bluetooth connectivity, I don't like using an AUX.
>>16644108
Bluetooth is shit. An aux adapter or tape to aux adapter is perfectly fine.
Let's have a thread about things that annoy you as a driver.
Share things that other drivers do, pedestrians and more do that really irritates you and unleashes your inner rage. I'll start
>Other drivers matching my speed when I'm trying to lane change
>Jay Walkers who walk with no sense of urgency
>FUCKING CYCLIST USING THE GODDAMN ROAD WHEN THERE IS A SIDEWALK
EVERY FUCKING TIME FOR THE LAST ONE
I am autistic so get ready
>pedestrians that walk across the street slowly
>people that put on their blinkers at the last second
>people that casually drift across the double yellow lines in the center
>people that come to a complete fucking stop in the middle of the road to take a turn
>people that are quick to pull out in front of me but slow to accelerate
>people that take longer than 1 second to react to the light turning green
>people that drive with their pet in their lap
>people that turn a single lane intersection into a two lane just because there is room for it
>people that are slow
>people that camp the left lane on the highway
>people in the middle lane that go the same speed as someone in the right lane (How fucking retarded do you have to be to do this? this is worth getting executed over, imo. there is no coming back for these people)
>skateboarders doing tricks on the sidewalk next to a busy road (yeah wait til your board slips out from under you, you fucking retard)
>people at gas stations that dont pull up close enough to the pump, not leaving enough room for others on the other side
>people that are too retarded to inflate their tires in the winter so you can see their deflated tires as they drive
>people that drive in the rain without their lights on
honestly, i could go on all fucking day but i dont want an aneurysm. fuck everybody
>>16644028
>not deflating your tires in winter to get better grip on the snow.
>Driving
>Guy with BMW comes up
>Takes off as fast as possible
>lol
>Do nothing
>Next stop light
>Does it again
>Take a turn
>Suddenly changes his path
>Does it two more times on two different roads
why
Hey /o/- car insurance question.
Got hit overnight at my girlfriends place- it was parked standard, not parallel parked. This is the right rear door. Took it in to be repaired ($1,000 deductible) only for them to tell me they think I hit a pole due to lack of paint transfer. I got out of there and didn't let them go through with it, as I don't want my insurance to go up if they're under the assumption that's the case. Is there anything I could point to that says that this is not a pole/pillar/whatever? I'm having an adjuster come out, but also don't want them to think I'm lying to them and get dropped. Pic related. Any advice? The dent is pretty bashed in, I'm thinking it could've been a truck bumper but that's all I've got. There was no car next to me the morning I discovered this. It's roughly $2,000 to fix.
>>16643802
Pic #2
>>16643802
>2000 bucks to pull out a dent and do some paint
You're getting jewed hard as fuck. I just paid 2600 to have the front and rear quarter of my car beat back into shape
>>16643837
They were concerned about shit getting messed up inside and we're going to take apart the door. Everything is still aligned and the window works fine.
Had two places quote me around 2k

I am looking to supplement my income while I am working my way up the latter for my career job thats been fucking me on hours lately.
I was considering driving for Uber/Lyft but I wasn't very keen to the fact that they do an extensive background check.
I got involved in a bullshit first offense misdemeanor-DUI case that I basically ignored and moved to a different state. I have never been served the paperwork for the DUI and it doesn't seem to be showing up on my credit report. I did however try to purchase a handgun and the local police station denied me.
I was wondering the best instant online background check and if it comes up back, fucked how I can fib the Uber background check.
>>16643773
>local police station denied me
What country or shit state do you live in? It should have been a NICS check
>>16643908
North Carolina, United States. I don't doubt it was. Since when does a DUI I haven't even been convicted of not allow me to have a gun?
>>16643773
Why would even want to Uber? You'll have to pay more insurance and put extra wear and tear on your car. Spend your time looking for a new job.
More like this please
