Now, I'm in the market for a boxy SUV. I'm from Europe and I have a 8.000 euro budget.
My requirments are :
>Must have 4x4 for heavy snow, potholes and the ocassional mountain trek with mud and gravel.
>Must have a diesel engine that doesn't exceed 2.5L engine capacity because taxes ( the small one ) and insurance ( the big one )
>Must have a manual gearbox
>Must look like a proper SUV : Square and ugly.
>Must be available in Europe
So far the contestants are these :
>Mitsubishi Outlander 2 with the 2.0tdi VW engine or the 2.2 PSA diesel
>Nissan X-Trail 2 with the 2.2dci engine
>Ford Ranger BT-50 2.2 diesel
>Range Rover P38 with BMW 2.5td engine and coil-over conversion.
Which one would you pick ?
X5 3.0 diesel facelift
reliable, sporty, comfy, decent at offroading etc.
>>16666070
>X5
>Reliable
Way out of my budget tho
Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin.
Nissan Pathfinder 2.5 DCi
Name something wrong with this car. You can't.
GoAPR stage 2 and it's the best DD on this planet. DSG is possibly the best transmission ever made. The 2.0 is practically bombproof.

Part time AWD = less parasitic power loss. I'll admit I'd prefer full time 50:50, but part time has its advantages.
>18 years old
>own an R34
>see all my friends spend saturday nights at car meets in their fdad's sedans
>only 35 hours completed out of 120 required to drive without a parent in the car
Fuck my life. I'm never going to get to enjoy my car.
Stop complaining, you own an r34 at 18
Do you actually own it or is that just waiting for you?
Also, just drive a bit more with your parents and have them lie for you, duh. I'm assuming your parents are too busy to be driving with you?
>>16665478
Also, this desu
When I was 18 I owned a bus pass and a skateboard, fuck you
>anon stop wasting time on that piece of shit, you should scrap it and buy a new car
Getting sick and tired of hearing this shit, and it isn't even that old, mid 90's with minimal rust to treat. So anon, what do your friends and family think of the time you spend tinkering?
What car is it? Is it actually a piece of shit?
>>16665058
>with minimal rust too
>rust on the car
It's shit.
>>16665071
Corsa B Si, like in the pic. Not the hottest car around by far, I know it, but the engine is still bulletproof and the bodywork only has a couple tiny rust spots. Plus, I like it.
How retarded do you need to be to fail driving licensure exams twice?
Pic related. I want to drive this daily shitbox alone so bad now.
Is this the paper test or the actual driving portion?
>>16664965
I passed first try on both and I honestly think I should've failed.
It's honestly way too easy to pass the fucking test.
i failed the paper 5 times and i failed the practical test twice.
its just persistence, i feel way more comfortable driving by myself now. i was way too stressed during the driving test, some of the examiners recommended me to a therapist for anxiety medicine
What's /o/'s opinion on this car?
Pros:
>early 2000's models are cheap as dirt
>gorgeous Pinifarina styling
>~200hp V6 provides more power than anything else in this price range
>range of smaller engines and diesels if you want more fuel economy
>common enough that you can be picky when buying
>doesn't seem to be complete shit to drive
Cons:
>it's a Peugeot
>interior not all that great
The refreshed version is arguably even better looking.
>>16664907
Well it was introduced before Peugeots turned to all around shit.
Aside from the styling the 406 is mediocre in pretty much every aspect.
So if you went to buy one of the slightly more expensive, well maintained and low mileage cars it should make a decent daily. Also they're not sporty cars, even a manual V6 is more of a comfy cruiser
Be aware that you'll have to fix things from time to time and Peugeot spares aren't as cheap as you might expect them to be.
>Also they're not sporty cars, even a manual V6 is more of a comfy cruiser
To be honest that's exactly what I want. I'm seriously considering getting one, just gonna do some research into common issues, I heard the later models have some problems, but that was from a guy selling an older one, so...
Should I buy a new WRX or a GTI?
I love them both. The WRX has awesome heritage, AWD, WRB, and it's a sick car.
The GTI has a great interior, is pretty quick, useful hatch, and is German. I love German cars but just can't afford a BMW or Audi now.
Will buy the WRX or GTI new.
Help me, /o/
GTI for nicer daily. WRX for speed and vape.
>>16664563
I have a Golf R MK7. I would go with the GTI if I were you. VW is great quality for the price, the interior will be more upscale vs the WRX/STi.
>>16664563
>>16664670
I'll complicate this a bit and say that in my opinion the WRX is a nice place to be as a driver.
I'd much rather be driven in the GTI but everything that you interact with as the driver in the WRX feels nice (seats, steering wheel, shifter, pedals)
The R34 is faster than any other car.
>>16664029
it isn't. Only car thats definetly slover than r34 is an tesla

>faster than any other car.

I live about 2 hours away from Brainerd International Raceway, apparently. I'm not sure if they have open track days, though they do have open drag racing and drifting events, apparently.
