ITT: Race cars that were so close to being perfect, but a small oversight left them to be forgotten.

Pic related: The Fujita Engineering FD. Better tires/ wider wheels in the rear and this thing would've gone down in history. It had a lot of power for the tight course and constantly lost grip if it was using the same tires as its impression runs, or the course wasn't dry. I honestly think it looks and sounds way cooler than the Amemiya car.

See what I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ3Ms2JLh_4 Skip to 1:31 if you wanna see some cool ass sliding.

Corvette c7 z06, could be a fantastic car but it overheats after a lap
>>
>>16698400
Aren't those the cars that sound like tractors and look like Ferraris but perform like, well, nothing because they have so many problems when pushed to 80% of their supposed limit?
>>
>>16698943
If tractors sounded like crossplane gas v8s they would be a lot more interesting. Somewhere along the line nobody noticed the oil cooler and catalytic converter were right next to each other and/or bean counters removed a heatshield since it didn't matter for normal driving. They get really hot really fast stock. Supercharged doesnt help with heat soak either. Killed the car's reputation amongst benchracers but if you have the shekels in a few years they're going to be fantastic performance bargains with catback exhausts and a heatshield for the oil cooler installed.

Ive asked this before.
Best 4x4 truck or SUV for $5k or less.
I haul wood and a motorcycle from time to time.
Would mostly be used for hauling/camping
90% freeway driving
I know they dont coincide but - mpg, hp, reliability are all factors.

Ive done a ton of reading and all manufacturers have their issues. None seem to shine as "best" imo.
Willing to consider full size, would rather not though.
Absolutely no nissan or jeep

Ranger. Adequate power, good reliability and decent mpg. If you're gonna be towing a lot i'd get a bigger truck though. The ranger does alright but I wouldn't want to tow on the highway all the time with it.

I live in Commiefornia so I have no experience with salt. What I can tell you that my ranger has been a great truck, and I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone. I'd imagine if you took proper care of your frame and washed it with fresh water regularly you'd be fine.

What are the best budget turbo cars with "low" miles. I want that turbo feel on a college student budget. So far I have considered new beetle 1.8t and 2003+ saab 9-3s. What else is good at this price?

So /o/

Theoretically, would it be better to save up for a mustang gt premium with a supercharger or just save up for gt350?

Mustang GT Premium = ~$40,000 + supercharger and other mods = ~$50,000

Shelby GT350 = ~$60,000

Why do people buy the Shelby? I understand the prices are jacked up, but it is really just better around corners + badgewhoring? You can surpass the power of a shelby with a GT and still spend $10,000 less.

Also, I wouldn't DD a shelby, but would DD a mustang gt. Do people DD shelbys?
55 posts and 22 images submitted.
>>
>>16690887
The gt350 will depreciate way slower. If you want a supercharged gt get a used gt500 and keep it stock.
>>
>>16690887
warranty + reliability

When I was child and played NFSU, I didn't under why anyone bought exotics when I could pimp a neon to exotic speed stats. Then I tried doing the same with a Honda fit in Forza and learned why.

Now that I'm an adult, there's an appeal to not owning a hopped up shitbox. I guess a supercharged mustang GT isn't a shitbox, but there is more than just HP between a GT and gt350.

The luxury wannabe PSA "division", they actually rebadge Citroen and Peugeots into horrible looking cars which are expensive beyond autism for what they are (rebadged Citroen and Peugeots).

Should I buy a third generation Mercedes ML? Specifically looking at something like this:

>ML 350 BlueTec AWD
>around year 2012
>around 30k

It would probably replace my wife's auto v6 mustang (got it from her parents). We are looking for a comfy car for running errands, doing things on the weekend and taking our son places. I like that the car is diesel because we would be more likely to drive it often.

The AWD is important as we live in the PNW, it is always raining or even snowing as we live on a steep hill. Also want something this size, recently got stranded at ikea when some furniture barely fit in my hatchback. The GL class seems like overkill in size though.

So i'm getting into a position of relative financial security in life and finally upgrade from my 95 truck i've driven my entire life.

I don't want to go new because of "muh value" memes and why pay $500 a month for an A-B machine.

So now i'm thinking what used cars that are 2005/2006 or newer that I can get relatively cheap without a ton of miles.

>Wants

My first thought is a Toyota Echo/Yaris or Scion xA. You'd have to add in a radio with bluetooth or pandora/spotify.
They're zippy due to their low weight.
and if you want more power, there's decent aftermarket support.
trd toyota echo

Recently got a 2011 Ford escape XLT I4 4x4, fully optioned, for $5k. 84k miles. Comfy leather interior, Bluetooth, decent mpg, not as slow as some econoboxes, lots of space. Yes I got a deal on it but if you can find one in your price range it's a nice DD
>>
>>16692660
>echo/yaris
They're small and fuel efficient, but the interior varies from bland to disgusting, the engines sound awful, and they look pretty gross. Not comfy at all.
