Is a V8 with a dead cylinder driveable? Pretty sure it's either Spark plug or coil pack. I unplugged the fuel injector and the coil pack to get home. I need to drive approximately 120 miles before the weekend when I can fix it

They seam pretty solid if you're looking for a tuning platform. FWD LSD was the big thing about the spec V I think.
Watched a kid strip a normal SER for parts for his Spec V in our automotive class last year. Still see that car driving around every day.

I really enjoy reading /o/ but I'm super unread when it comes to the actual reality of street racing and picking/improving a car that would do well.
A few questions:
1. What areas of the country have street racing scenes, and where does one look to find them? Is /hou/ without the autism a decent example?
2. Are they actually similar to Tokyo drift or is that just a meme? Is it illegal?(not that that's a problem)
3. What do most people drive in these racings scenes? I assume it's all riced out WRTs, supras, etc. But I don't know.
4. I read shit online like "performance" automatic transmissions are better than manual. Is this also a meme? If true, what other common pieces of knowledge that used to be true are changing because of car technology, and how is it seen in street racing?
5. What's a good resource for learning all the shit you guys know? Spending 5 hours on /o/ just lurking threads doesn't feel like it's the fastest way I could learn.

You shoud really use common sense. That plug is smashed into itself from the bottom. Aside from someone pulling it out, smashing it with a hammer and putting it back, that only happens for a few reasons. Either something got inside the motor and the piston smashed it into the plug, or the timing belt snapped/slipped and the piston hit the plug. Smashing it.
I'm willing to bet someone snapped the belt, realized what happened and sold the motor as "Ran when pulled" or "Dunno whats wrong with it"
So congrats on the parts motor.

Tranny question
I picked up a 2004 Ford ranger the other day for a project truck. The truck runs fine until I reach ~50 mph, then the over drive light starts blinking and starts shifting at a high rpm (~3k). Also once it's in its highest gear the rpm guage is still in the high 2k-3k while cruising. It makes it sound as if it hasn't shifted up to the next gear when cruising at higher speeds.
