Well, I got my first ticket ever today /o/ Anyhow, lets have a traffic ticket pissing contest.
Tell us : What Country / State Were you in
What car were you in?
What did you do?
What did they pin you with?
Price - and - End result.
Did you deserve it?
Was it worth it?
Here's mine.
>Texas, USA
>I deserved it
>Hertz Rent-A-Car Land Rover Discovery Sport
>Going 110-125 mph down a rural highway passing people whenever I could however I could.
>112 Mph Speeding and "improper use of lane"
>500 bucks, no other penalties.
>Yeah, I deserved it.
>Yeah, it was about damn time.
>>16720056
>California
>2015 Honda civic
>cell phone violation driving on a suspended license
>both violations
>587$
Cell phone ticket I deserve as for the suspended license ticket I don't believe I deserved that BECAUSE I had no fucking idea it was suspended considering I had it on me and I worked at a dealership and was insured with there insurance.
Cop ended up giving me a driving without a license ticket which is equivalent to a 16 year old on his permit driving on his own
Found out my license got suspended from my accident I had 8 months prior to me being pulled over for not providing proof of insurance at the time of the accident which I did. I thought was hilarious.
Currently still paying off those tickets
>>16720056
80 in a 60, no ticket, but $100 fine for a dui + 3 days in jail, 1 year license revocation,
$5k for lawyer, sr22 insurance, breathalyzer in my car. cost about $8300 total.
definitely deserved it, definitely wasn't worth it.
dont drink and drive. probably don't speed either for that matter.
>>16720056
>NC
> Daytona 675
>Got caught speeding, Ran didn't run far enough. Cop only gave me 80 in a 55, I was too far out of range when I hit 120
>$126ish I think got it reduced at court.
>Of course
>Fuck yeah it was worth it some of the best fun I've had in my life.
Anyone know anything about wheel bearings on cars? I drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla, 101k miles on it. At around 90k, mechanic said both front wheel bearings need to be replaced. When driving, I can barely hear the radio at near max volume, they start getting really loud around 45mph.
Only thing I'm worried about is I use this car to drive my 3 year old around and I was told the wheel could fall off any time.
>>16723867
>having kids
>driving a corolla
>that much mileage per year
Mistakes were made.
>>16723867
plz be bait
if this isnt than jesus fuck nigger you gonna die if you dont replace them
>>16723867
I hope you're baiting, I swear.
Replace that shit right away.
So what would $100000 of mods under the hood be like on this?
>>16723810
A full SnapOn toolbox.
Stolen DVD players

Whats the best car to cannonball the US?
I was considering of going for the record and beating the time of 28 hours and 50 minutes.
I dont think my e39 M5 is going to be fast enough. Any suggestions?
Inb4 hurr hurr faggit etc
Something with a big V8 and high gearing. Something like this.
>>16723651
Also needs massive trunk to fight auxillary tanks.
M5 is powerful but you will have to do stops very often and that's why you should do this in a powerful van
Is it a good idea to lease something you plan on buying at the end of the term?
Have you literally never heard of financing?
Find out which has better interest rates and do the math
>>16722034
The thing is I'm poor atm
In 3 years when the lease is up, I'll have a stable income to finance
>>16722030
>>16722034
>Financing
Way to get cucked by the banks and stealerships. Go buy a 3K civic instead
I got a 12000 budget to buy a sports car, and currently the C5 seems like the best bang for your buck. I've looked at other choices in that price range (350z, 986, S197, E46, etc) and they're either significantly more expensive to maintain or aren't as powerful. Anyone care to prove me wrong?
>>16721737
>Anyone care to prove me wrong?
No. American cars provide the best combination of performance, reliability and low maintenance costs for the price. You sacrifice some interior quality and overall fit and finish here and there, but who cares when you've got literally the greatest engine ever made under the hood?
"Prove me wrong" is bait language 'round these parts. If you've test driven a C5 and like it, I would test drive maybe the Porsche and BMW options you're considering, then decide which one you like best. Peak HP isn't everything.
>>16721737
Depends on what you are looking for in a vehicle. If u are in an area where the winters are not bad or u already have a winter beater. Go for it. But if you are going to rely on it for all seasons and the winters are bad... good luck :-/
>>16720848
>hyundai near the top
That's fucking bullshit. One friend I know with a 2012 hyundai sonata had the engine self-destruct at 60k miles, and the other with a brand new veloster had the transmission grenade at 3k.
>>16720848
>buick and chevy at the top
yeah this is bullshit. i may be a gm shill but gm cars are not this great at all
Its a jeep thing
Turtletron has passed away.

Did I fuck up /o/? I really hate the CVT on this car, at least the mileage is good
Can someone please assure me that I didn't make a bad purchase?
You bought a civic. It's designed to be boring and simple. if you expected any kind of fun you are not going to find it in a stock cvt civic
>inb4 autists get angry instead of just hiding thread.

I miss these threads
hypothetical
would you rather:
-get a 30k lexus ls460, as new as you can get with as many features as you can get....
OR
-get a 25k jaguar XJ (pic related) with a similar age and features stipulation....along with a 4 year 48k mile bumper to bumper warranty for 5 grand?
assuming you'd be selling both in 5 years
>>16720111
The Jag.
>>16720111
The jag. It's already past the worst of its depreciation.
>>16720111
Lexus cos I still don't want a car that is prone to breaking every week.
What is stopping me from building a bigger one of these in America using a box truck chassis and bobbing the frame?
>>16718246
You don't have them already? Flatbed vans are pretty popular in europe.
>>16718246
Your own laziness. Make it 4x4 too.
>>16718395
Nope, there are some, but off road use only, like landscaping shit.
>>16718434
Pretty much. I'm just worried I would need a CDL or two t would be a million dollars to register, or I need special trucker insurance.
>Want to buy an NSX before they hit Ford GT prices
>Want to buy FD RX7, r32 GTR, and SW20 MR2 before they hit millennial-boomer status
>Want to do a 1GZ swap in my IS300
>Want to buy a 240z before they all become rustbuckets
>Want to get a s13 and do an s14 front end swap
>Probably want to do tons of other shit that I either forgot or haven't thought of yet
>tfw I will probably barely get one of these things unless I win the lottery
Fug, how do you even begin to choose, especially since most of these things are time sensitive before the prices either go sky high, or the cars turn into rustbuckets with sikk mawds.
Just buy a Supra already.
>>16714124
this goy knows
>>16714103
get one that will be usable in the long run and that has less electronics and is a collectible
when combustion cars are banned from the road it will skyrocket in price and less electronics means simple fixes

>remove all interior comforts out of desperation
Is this the benchracing model?
>>16718177
Porsche does it, why not Ford? I'd be curious to see if they'll do anything like the LM body kit too.
>tfw you never appreciated how fucking gorgeous the first gen ford gt was until it went off the market
>tfw used ones now go for $250k more than they did when they were new
What's more important when considering a car's specs: horsepower or torque?
What should be maximized when upshifting: horsepower or torque?
>>16722861
There are way more specs out there beyond horse power and torque
>>16722861
>What's more important when considering a car's specs: horsepower or torque?
depends on what kind of car you want, also you should consider the entire powerband not just peak numbers (look at a dyno chart or drive one and feel it for yourself), gearing plays a part too
>What should be maximized when upshifting: horsepower or torque?
You have to factor in torque and gear ratio. Whenever the torque you're currently producing at the wheels at the current RPM is lower than what it would be in the next gear up (after RPM drop), you shift
so really just do it whenever power starts to drop off
Horsepower forever and always
Torque is irrelevant once power has been calculated
