Got rear ended in my shitbox Honda Fit the other day that's worth about 12-13k depending.

The rear bumper is destroyed, and the left rear wheel had completely sheared off. The quarter panel might be damaged as well. But I think the Macpherson strut is fucked. I couldn't get a good look at it. The rear suspension components for the left wheel are probably going to need to be replaced.

Any thoughts on if insurance will replace or salvage it? What's the process, etc? I just want to get back into a car I own. Rental cars suck.

Insurance companies typically declare any car that's had the bumper completely ripped apart to be a total loss

So apparently this will make me look like a gay ricer. But I can't find another affordable hardop convertible. Is there like some basic guide of what kind of douchebag you are for driving each kind of car?

How much would it usually run to replace a bumper and fix a rear wheel that isn't spinning properly? Like it doesn't run true and the car shakes when you drive. I don't have a job but I want to get him the money back.

Pirelli is shit compared to equally priced Michelin's or Bridgestone... I have had a really good experience with Bridgestone, Michelin has been a bit out of my price range. However, I know for a fact PZeros are pure asshole.

So I have the chance to buy a 1985 Toyota van with 11,000kms on the clock, body and interior are virtually clean and rust free.

It's been sitting in a garage for the past 16 years. I really like this van in particular because of old school toyotas

But should I bother going for it? I'm not sure what the engine is like and when the last time it was started or turned over.

Should I bother looking at it?
I'm only offering $3000 for it since its unregistered and will need a service

Don't bother. Get a nicer one. Any money you save up front will be spent in the long run.
>>
The engine is going to need work. make fucking sure theres no rust.

I'm leaning towards not getting it but I'm still curious to have a look at an 80's car with 11,000kms on it

Have a friend who owns a 2.0L, I hope you can grasp wiring diagrams well and have solid soldering experience. Access to and experience with welding stuff also pretty essential otherwise you'll be looking at big bills, especially if you're in the US.

Fantastic cars though. The 75 is also worth considering since it's essentially a 4-door GTV
>>
>>16702023
If it's not rusty and you can wire well, it shouldn't be an issue.

Does it have to be a Suburban or a longer wheel based Yukon? There's really no difference between the two anyway, technically the same truck you can get at the same price depending on trim.

Why is it that every car I ever look at seems to have the following going on.

Blown Ball Joints
Bad or Wiggly Wheel Bearings
Blown Shocks\Struts
Dry Rotted or Missing Bushings

It seems that people think that maintaining a vehicle comes down to 19.99 oil changes (if your lucky) and gasoline\diesel.

So /o/ what is your experiencing with this shit?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.

they are common things that wear out on every car over time. Most people just don't care about fixing it.
>>
I've been thorough whenever buying a vehicle for myself or when going with a friend to look at one, and I can confirm; you see the stupidest shit and you're just left wondering how people dont notice or just accept it as normal

These are some of those common components to fail. So, of course, you'll see a lot of failed BJs and blown shockers. I was a bus mechanic for 5 years and we were changing all of these with bald tyres, worn down brake pads 'n' discs or shoes 'n' drums or even mysterious oil and fuels leaks from nowhere...
