Thoughts on hypermiling? Outside of driving techniques such as more coasting, what do you do in order to boost your mileage? Getting 19mpg/city in my Town Car right now.

It's not worth it. If you got a couple more mpg average it's only a few bucks difference per fill up. If you're driving know the interstate just go 65-70 and watch your mpg improve

I guess it depends, on the highway I can understand since you might find those extra miles will really mean the difference between having to stop and not having to stop, as well as the difference between making it to the next gas station, or hitchhiking/calling AAA. In the city? I'd say you're fucked either way, so might as well enjoy driving.

You just kind of space out and drive possessed. For me my feet and buttocks feel really sensitive on the pedals and seat and my arms just do their thing. If it's a car with chunky bolsters on the sides of the seats and you're chucking it around it feels even better.

I just bought a 2001 Plymouth Prowler with 11000 miles for $10k.
It's actually a pretty fun car to drive, and I think I might daily it for a bit when the spring comes around.
I thought they were cool when I was a kid and always wanted one, and I managed to get this one pretty cheap.
Honestly owning it makes me happier than pretty much anything ever has

Do you live in the US and do you care about reliability? There's not much that will be both fast and reliable for under $10k. The ST twins aren't really old enough to be that cheap so I guess you're left with a GTI? You could get a nice Integra GS-R for that with cash left over if you look for a while but I guess that's more of a liftback. Possibly a Mazdaspeed 3 but I'm not sure how reliable a cheap one would be. An older WRX wagon might fit the bill.
