With cash for clunker, lol, a lot american trade perfect 20mpg truck for 21mpg truck losing 20kUSD in the process. Or destroying perfect c4 corvette with kerosene or something in the motor.

The effects of cash for clunkers are not felt at all today.
The economy has had years to sort itself out in that regard.
>>16891159
>destroying perfect c4
I thought Cash For Clunkers was supposed to be for shitty broken down old cars, not sports cars that aged well (in every sense).
>>16891194
>shitty broken down old cars
Condition was not a criteria. Cash for clunkers destroyed the used car market. Excellent old and classic vehicles were traded for less than 4k equity on new shitboxes.
thoughts on these? i've always wanted one and now that they're going to be released in the US while i'm in a good financial spot, i'm most likely gonna buy one. are there any better options for quick, fun to drive sports cars around ~ $35k?
Is that the new Subaru WRX
I think it's one of the ugliest cars I've seen roll out of factories in the last 20 years. Needs less jagged lines and hard angles, looks too much like it was designed by a 12 year old in MS Paint.
Still want one.

POINT MUGU — A man was killed Thursday night after he lost control of his convertible along a sharp turn on northbound Pacific Coast Highway and plunged 40 feet to his death.
Authorities did not identify the victim, the sole occupant of the car, but said he was in his mid-30s. He was driving a gray Mazda Miata about a mile north of Deer Creek Road about 7 p.m. when the accident occurred, California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Pedeferri said.
"He was out of control for quite a distance," Pedeferri said.
About 200 feet of skid marks showed the driver had tried to stop but was going too fast, authorities said. The car crossed into the southbound lanes, struck a soft shoulder and spun around before flipping and landing on its top.
Authorities would not say whether alcohol was involved.
>"He was out of control for quite a distance,"
miata drivers are fucking stupid
Honestly I'm kind of jealous. Dying during hektik 200 foot skids on Highway One? No one on this board will ever have a death half that cool.
>>16890707
agreed
>200ft of skidmarks
Shit nigga he must have been cranking. Miatas are so fast and fun.

In Ontario a couple years ago some bible thump bitch got someone's plate yanked because it represented '666', but it wasn't blatant devil worshiping, it had other meaning. VI6SIX, related to hockey and his dad and shit.

I like that they listed some of the banned plates

Who wasted their time watching the "Diamond in the Rough: Restoring a Classic American Luxury Car" series on Youtube?
The fuckin host goes on and on about how his dead father came to the US, worked hard, succeeded, and bought a rare trim Lincoln back in the day. The host eventually gets a hold of it and lets it sit outside for almost a decade - ruins it. His dear old dads car. Then proceeds to make a video series restoring it, and he and his "mechanic" friend and virgin son bumble around the vehicle trying to "fix it up" like a bunch of dopes. The video production quality is garbage and the talking just goes on and on. In the end after ten episodes, it just ends without knowing what happened to the car! Everyone wanted to know what happened, no replies. Nothing. I raged at how he could let a low mile Lincoln go to shit, and then I raged at his shitty resto attempt and video production. Then I raged at my wasted time. What a fuckin joke, a good example of how not to do everything.
Their channel is The Fast Lane Car. A few days ago /o/ linked a video series testing trucks, and within a few seconds of watching this series I'm like "I recognize that douche...". This dickhole has another account called The Fast Lane Truck. Why make all these different channels, keep it under all one brand. But it doesn't matter, the guy is a middle aged muffin topper who is out of touch with a son that needs to get laid.
its a malaise era shitbox calm down

Most car youtubers could stop posting tomorrow and we would not miss them.
>>16890261
There are many that do things properly, and their videos are well put together.
But maaaaan is there alot of shit, wrong information, and just plain retards working on vehicles.
Have you ever got all 4 wheels off the ground before?
Of course, my childhood wasn't terrible so we had a paddy basher, we got all 4 wheels off the ground at least 50 times a weekend for at least a year or so. (pic related is a recreation of our track in MS paint showing the two spots you could get all 4 wheels off the ground, the tabletoop was too narrow for cars and that was bike only).
It's very eye opening as to exactly how much punishment a car can really take.
>>16890219
Yes, 1992 Corolla field beater at a farm.
>>16890219
I used to jump my s10 blazer every day. I've gotten my fwd shitbox off the ground at highway speeds which is not fun.
>cruising down highway at around 140kmh at night
>don't see the pavement ends/gravel road begins sign
>highway has like a 3'' drop to gravel road
>get air
>hit gravel road and barely hold it straight
>shit bricks
with all the focus on lap times around here, surely some of you hit the track no?
Here's a thread for those who hit the track, please post some pictures of track days, your track vehicle, share experiences, stories, post your local track etc.
the richmond VA track is expensive as fuck, looked into it and said NOPE
>implying local benchracers are old enough to have a driving license
>>16890088
There any drag strips around these parts?
Ever see a car that, either from a factory or as a build, is aesthetically let down by one thing so badly that it just turns from cool to "what the fuck?"
Pic related. A gorgeous 50s Chevy restomod I with possibly the most ill-advised choice in wheels possible this side of 20"+ chrome drug dealer wheels.
That whole paint job is fucked. I never got the whole >they don't make em like they used to meme. Especially from people who change the entire driveline, brakes, wheels and interior
restomods always look like shit
theres also no bigger let down in the world than seeing an LS in something it didnt come in
>>16890020
Meh, I don't see a problem with turning something like a Plymouth satellite, or what was a base Camaro into a restomod, so long as you don't put gawdy ass wheels on it.
Where it gets shitty is when its done to relatively rare cars.
When you visit a u-pull yard...
I look at the speedometer...a needle never to move again, numbers forever locked in place. You ever wonder what the final few miles were like?
Cars could tell a story.
It is a bit eerie isn't it? Once, I saw a car at ~950,000 and I thought to myself, "what caused it to die? were the owners shitty? bad day? who knows?"
I remember goign to the local yard during C4C. and seeing all these low mileage rust free cars that were traded in. Fucking a shame.
>>16890048
That close to the big one-mil? Its owner probably died.

You know what this is? This is the wear pattern of someone that daily drives a manual transmission. Yep, i'm a special snowflake. You automatic fags can't possibly understand.
>inb4 DCT are superior
Not only are 95% of you driving fwd shitboxes, but the ones driving decent automatic car aren't even capable enough as drivers to capitalize on the difference.
Manual feels thread :^)
