or even go back to pre eu style?
stripe is not mandatory in britbongia now
>>16923148
am jelly as fuck.
the blue strip always looks faggy and especially fucks with the optics on classic cars.
>>16923119
No difference, I can't see us reverting back to the classic black-n-silver style, no matter cool it looked. The reflective white-n-yellow became an option in 1968 and mandatory from 1973 but I don't know if it was one of the many, many, many, many, many requirements for us to join the EEC , the EU's predecessor.
I believe what would change is that the little blue strip would be taken off or the EU star symbol is removed for the Crown or whatever
Has anyone here fixed or upgraded their vehicle's exhaust system?
What did you do?
I replaced my car's catalytic converter. It runs great now but the muffler is still broken so I plan on replacing it too
>>16921153
I'm gonna buy a F-Sport exhaust soon. Horribly overpriced for an axleback, but fuggit. I'm autistic about OEM parts with this car.

Replaced the pigfat muffler on my 97 f150 with a cherry bomb. Sounds pretty good now for a shitty 4.2 v6.
>>16921153
Don't just cut out the catalytic converter unless you're broke or don't have an alternative.
Modern cats have miniscule losses and unless you have a 1.6l or smaller engine, you're doing some serious pollution and a cat would help elevate that.
Otherwise you're going to see the biggest improvements in headers on most cars.

Responsible decisions:
>buying an AWD SUV cuz muh "bigger car=safer"
>buying an automatic for ease of transport
>not voiding your car's warranty by obvious bolt on mods
>keeping your car stock for a hefty resale value
What I want to do
>buy a RWD car
>manual
>tune it
I don't know why but I'm just really scared of doing the things I want. Can someone give me some feelsgoodman stories about deciding not to make responsible decisions?

>with some basic TLC it's been a pleasure to drive
>never been more proud of owning anything
Open your ass and your heart and mind will follow. If you budget things correctly, there's no saying you can't have something sensible and find like a subaru crosstrek with a six speed or something. Or even two cars, one to beat around with and one to be responsible with.

For what it's worth I'm a senior in college now and I'm about to purchase my second car.
If you budget things correctly and bust ass workinv, you can have both if you really want.

Hmm
Can anyone explain why v8 engines sound so much louder than v6 engines? I have a v6 straight piped but my buddy has a v8 straight piped and its almost twice as loud. Do the extra 2 cylinders really make that much difference?
>>16925623
Engine design has more to do with loudness than number of cylinders.
But yes in general, you're getting more explosions per second in a V8 vs a V6
No 2 cylinders make no difference. Therefore applying inductive reasoning we may conclude that V8 is as good as V0. So, to summarize: get a horsecart.
4000rpm x 8 cylinders= 32,000 explosions a minute or 533 explosions a second
4000rpm x 6 cylinders = 24,000 explosions a minute or 400 explosions a second
133 explosions would make it louder yes, you fucking retard.
Other countries can beat us on *volume* of cars sold - but they CAN'T beat us on *quality*. They can't beat our country for PEDIGREE.
We are the best car nation on the planet - BAR NONE.
1) Formula 1. Seven of the ten current F1 teams have bases in the UK - five of them are ENTIRELY based in the UK, including the current triple world champions Mercedes, and the former quadruple world champions Red Bull. We also have produced the most drivers, the most *championship winning* drivers, the most championship winning constructors, and the most championship winning engine manufacturers.
So both in terms of drivers and in terms of automotive excellence, we are the cream of the crop in F1.
2) Luxury / high performance car manufacturers:
>Jaguar
>McLaren
>Rolls Royce
>Aston Martin
All of these manufacturers build their cars in Britain - and three of them (Jaguar, McLaren, Aston Martin) use engines that they have designed and manufactured right here in Britain too. They are some of the most sought after marques in the world, producing some of the best performing, and most luxurious, cars in the world today.
3) Sports car manufacturers:
>Lotus
>Caterham
>Ariel (of Atom fame)
>Morgan
All British built and engineered, of course. Some of the most exciting hobbyist/sports cars in the world.
4) Some of the most prestigious cars of all time:
>McLaren F1
>Jaguar XJ220
>McLaren P1
>Jaguar E-Type
>Aston Martin DB5
5) World land speed record. We've held the record since 1983 - that's 34 years. Hurry up America! It was set in 1983 by the British-built "Thrust2", then renewed in 1997 with the British "ThrustSSC". Now we're about to break it AGAIN with the British "Bloodhound SSC" - hopefully going above 1,000 mph for the first time, and breaking the record by 33%, which would be the largest ever margin.
6) Historical, prestigious car marques:
>MG
>Bentley
>TVR
>Triumph
>Mini
We're the best car nation on the planet. Sorry, rest of the world.

I think you spelled Japan wrong.
The way your insurance works is pants on head retarded, and expensive.
Your taxes on cars are pants on head retarded
Your road systems are pretty fucking boring, minus B roads which are in danger anyway
Your safety regs and MOT are crazy
You can't go fast except on tracks which are expensive because you have to pay to use them
Your gas ("petrol") prices are stupid insane
Every single UK F1 team is trash, except maybe Williams. Mercedes does not count.
Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by the indians
Rolls Royce and Bentley are both German owned
1984 was a warning, not a manual to the police state you live in.
I do most repairs/maintenance on my cars as does probably most of /o/.
I have an s2k, and it has a clunking noise coming from both the right and left rear. Sounds like a popping/clunking from every little bump I hit. Me and a buddy stood there with a bar for over an hour prying on everything trying to re-create the sound, and I can if I jack it up and put the pry bar under my wheel, put load on the wheel and then let it go I do hear the thunk. Thing is though, we could not pinpoint it at all. Thinking it may be the top mounts for the struts, but I have no way to confirm this. Anyways, we checked every bolt, joint, bushing and everything is tight and looks good.
On top of that, the clutch kinda sticks at the bottom and squeaks. I just attempted to grease the slave cylinder rod/cup as well as bleed the clutch, but the issue still persists.
I have really no more time to fuck around with it so I need to find a mechanic to take it to that won't destroy my car joy riding it or tell me the same thing I found out by myself - nothing.
How do I go about finding a good mechanic who knows these cars and won't fuck my shit up? I've never taken my car to a shop before anywhere.
>>16925181
In my experience the only time you can trust a mechanic is if they're your total bro or family
As for your s2k make sure it's not the top of your coilovers cause that sounds about right. It could also be your axle, wiggle the hell out of them to see if they move at all. Do your wheel(s) stick out from the chassis at all? Any negative camber to them? It could be hidden ball joint failure. Lastly visually inspect any bushing, measure it then measure the opposite side, make sure there's no play
Good luck (check your wheel bearings if all else fails)
>>16925181
As for your clutch, bleed it again fully using a pump, or your mouth if you are white trash. If it still sticks at the bottom (has air in it) you probably need a new slave cylinder
>>16925242
Yeah, I checked all those thing thoroughly... I'm afraid it's the strut since they're aftermarket and I really don't want to go through the pain in the ass effort taking them off for something that may potentially fix it. I just don't have that kind of time anymore.
Wheel bearings seemed fine to me, car is all tight as can be.
What I am going to try maybe is that the struts have damping/compression adjustments, so maybe I can crank them up and down and see if it affects anything. (car is set to stock ride height).
>>16925260
I bled the hell out of it with a friend, and the slave cylinder moves extremely easily. I'm thinking it may be related to the fork/release bearing, which is obviously not the easiest thing to check. I am going to just get a new slave cylinder though since they're cheap enough and if that thing is coming off again, fuck it, a new one is going on.
Greetings /o/
As the title say it, I am exploring to possibly turn my old 92 camry (yes you can laugh) into a custom VIP build (outside look only). I know, my car is old and it's a very common model, but I like it and it's in near-perfect shape, it's pic related btw.
>Link for those who don't know VIP builds and are interested in knowing more (I personnaly don't care about anything past step 5):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZYOLziJJ8Q
So aside from wanting the outside look, I am bound by country and state rules (Quebec, Canada) regarding customization as well as road and weather problems (snow!). I mainly wish to have your recommendations on what I should look for that fits my need.
Suspensions:
Mainly because of the bumpy roads, I am quite scared of lowering my car down this much and I have to add, I do not know if my state allows the removing of certain parts of the suspensions to lower the car. However, I know there is a kind of "adjustable" suspensions such as hydraulics or something which can go up and down and I look foward to know more about those.
Tires/wheels:
My car currently has 195/70R14 size equipped, but that's clearly too small and could fit larger ones. I will need to change tires soon and I'd take that momentum to switch to a larger wheel (with actual style aka not stock wheels) and go for larger Tires as well. I don't know much about Stretching, but I will inevitably need to do it.
Lights:
The stock lights behind the camry is ok, but not good for a VIP styled car, I'll post a pic linked to this post. I don't know what to do with it.
Body kits:
Because winter is dumb, I dont even know if adjustable suspension would do it once winter comes. Where I live, there can be days where you can mistake your car with a snow load. My point for that is that making the car low limits it's mobility, specifically in winter. Perhaps theres a kind of body kit I could remove during winter?
Thanks in advance.
Hope you're not laughing too much. :)

Back light. The whole thing except where "CAMRY" is written can light up.
all you can have in quebec is a shitbox because of snow+millions if pot holes...in montreal at least

Yes, I invested the full sum in a depreciating piece of metal instead of financing for nearly no interest and making my capital work elsewhere. It's the patrician way.

Rates are good, why not?
What are the pros and cons of torque vectoring differentials vs. one motor per wheel?
more motors
more hype
torque vectoring by braking can have uneven brake wear
One motor per wheels allows torque vectoring not through braking but by actually just not putting that rotational energy into the wheel, IE the wheel is driven at a lesser rate, rather than the brakes being activated to slow the wheel down because the torque is instantaneous
Differentials can get complicated or can lead to odd handling characteristics on the street, but I'm think more like old school detroit lockers or a mini spool rather than something electro magic
>>16923832
>One motor per wheels allows torque vectoring not through braking
Regenerative braking uses the electric motor to brake and charge the battery.
How do I get over my fear of working under my car?
y so skurd tho?
