I've been drifting mt GT86 for about 4 months and have gone to 4 drift events, and I've decided I really need a beater car to get better at this.
I have about 1500 bucks to throw around to get a missile car and weld the diff - what are some of the best options right now?
>pic related, saw an '80 NA 924 for sale with shit paint and dings but good internals, 52k miles- 800 bucks
bumping- only thing i'm worried about is reliability
>>16933880
A cheap 924 will be one of the most expensive drift cars you could buy.
Miata is always the answer - or a cheap BMW.
>>16933895
yeah i figured as much, aren't miattas harder to drift because of the short wheelbase or something? or is that just a meme?
Why are manufactures going to making smaller engines more efficient rather than making already liked-by-all engines more efficient and more powerful?
For example : The Ford Raptor went from a beefy V8 to a V6 making the V6 more fuel efficient and powerful. Good, but why didn't they try to make the V8 more powerful and fuel efficient?
>This seems to be the trend and it doesn't make any sense to me.
>What are your reasons or answers to this?
Also, you as a customer, do you like it?
Its easier to have a turbo engine and stay out of boost during the EPA test than do something intelligent like skyactiv.
>>16933753
skyactiv is faggots i just want to pollute
ford is a shit. There you go. The correct answer. Enjoy your aluminum bed and v6 lol.
Discuss GT cars
GT cars must:
>Have 2 door body styles (usually a 2 door sedan or 2 door coupe)
>have a large, usable back seat
>have a large usable trunk
>be comfy on long journeys
>have a powerful engine
A performance suspension is preferred but now required.
What's you favorite GT car?
Pic is my second-favorite
Here's mine
>>16933187
>rock hard suspension
>back seat has virtually no headroom
Not a GT car, sorry. Neat sports car though
Rear engine layout is the most superior performance layout ever.
So why don't other companies other than Porsche do it?
Are they all fucking stupid as their buyers.
Shove a GT3 4.0l flat 6 in here than tell me which would be the better track car
>>16933058
>Rear engine layout is the most superior performance layout ever.
[...] for rwd
>>16933058
all of Porsches best performing cars are mid engined
red pill me on black ops performance /o/, I've been wanting an R34 so bad, I live in Florida and might just go get one but I want to hear from you guys first
>>16932616
apparently, they bring the cars over in two pieces and put them together to bypass the law. That's all I know, and I'm not even sure if that's correct
>>16932639
They do? They didn't mention that, they apparently import it, most likely they import them illegally, they then get a state title, and insurance from wherever. What I'm worried about is some cop knocking at my door and telling me my car is going to become scrap, but holy shit I want one so bad my penis is going to explode
Like title says. Getting one or the other and I can't decide whether two door is too small for my family or if the four door looks weird and I'll regret it.
Can y'all give your 2 pennies on whether you'd get wrangler or unlimited? Tell me about your pros/cons for each I would really appreciate a lot of different perspectives.
>>16932338
I'd go for the Unlimited personally.
Mainly because Mopar sells a JK-8 kit specifically for the Unlimited model that turns it into a pickup truck.
Four-door looks weird and is for women.
>>16932338
If you gonna drive a lot with all your family then the 4 doors are worth it, it's an SUV
*Patiently awaits that Mustang General thread where everyone can post their Mustang, share stories, have good discussions regarding mods and general upgrades*
I've been waiting for 4 months now. It always fails. Ends up as a low reply-count thread mostly composed of shitposters. Sigh.
>>16932287
i cant afford that shit but my car could smoke it anyway
*Patiently waits for that FJ Cruiser general thread that always ends up with me being the only poster and quietly sobbing myself to sleep as my thread crawls to page 10 and dies alone and forgotten*
You know nothing of my struggles OP.

Is 16 inch too small?
That just highlights how fat cars have gotten.
You are given a budget of $300,000 to buy a car to drive coast-to-coast. For leisure, not a race.
What do you drive?
Where do you start?
Where do you end up?
Do you bring a passenger?
Coast-to-coast in Eurasia? Probably pic related.
Civic with some nice mods.
>What do you drive?
A bright red Acura NSX (Honda)
>Where do you start?
>Where do you end up?
American here. I start in Charleston SC, work my way up through upstate SC And through Tennessee, then haul ass across the midwest before finishing in Portland OR.
>Do you bring a passenger?
I think I'd just invest in hookers along the way.

LA care chase
He went from stealing a mustang to a truck and has a hostage. Been going on for 3 hours
>>16927323
Might as well pull over after this long there's no way he's escaping
lol he's fucked hope he gets shot
>>16927323
I honestly don't see why people run. You can outrun the radio and you can't outrun the copter.
Pros
>great shifting and steering
>lots of torque and picks up speed very fast
>great, responsive handling and hard to understeer
>low cost to own (fuel/insurance/0% interest)
>Recaro seats are fantastic
Cons
>doesn't look that good
>rear cargo area poorly designed
>panel gaps bad in some areas
>current rear motor mount sometimes rattles
>annoying tire size
>build quality
>aftermarket
>easy to work on
>good shape
>suits my needs of capability and space
>relatively low power (102hp/200nm, will be fixed)
>bare bones (no AC, ABS, outside temp gauge), altho last has been rectified
>wheels are too small (will be fixed)
>no rear locker (will be fixed)
>bed door and front bumper are rusty (will be replaced)
Ayy FiST Bro!
Pros:
>Recaros are snug as fuck
>Great aftermarket scene/plenty of tuning potential
>Very quirky and fun
>Looks great and aggressive
>plenty of space for my everyday needs
Cons:
>Quick but after about 50MPH kinda starts to lose its quickness
>Turbo lag is unreal sometimes
>4 doors
>Shit rattles all the time
>Gear changes are too loosey goosey
>so much fun to drive
>seats and steering wheel feel great
>voice commands actually work, stereo is good
>more economical than I expected (25 mpg average, 35 when not hooning)
>ride is just right for my tastes, not too firm (most of the time)
>turning circle is atrocious
>A pillar blocks view a lot
>very easy to lose traction in 1st and 2nd if you're not careful with the throttle, especially on wet roads
>torque steers like a motherfucker in 1st and 2nd
>not the greatest of cargo spaces for a wagon
Umm, why don't you own a Bugatti Chiron yet?

Does anyone?
Hi, /o/.
How much would it cost to convert a 66 mustang coupe into a fastback with either 69 Boss or "Eleanor" body?
I'm also concerned about VIN, as conversion would cause at least several of those being gone if not all and if I were to buy an entire body - what about VIN's then?
Finally - I can do a lot of man work, especially metal related myself, but prepping the body for paint and painting it is out of my reach, so if someone is actually experienced or knowledgeable, please consider that in the estimated price.
P.S.
I do not reside in the U.S. which might make some of parts/body kits dealers unavailable to me.
I hate that Eleanor refers to the shit Nic Cage remake car. Eleanor is and will alwats be a 1971 Sportsroof.
>>16938220
I fully understand the frustration and while I do not visit /o/, I expected "Eleanor" from the remake movie to be hated.
However, a fastback is a fastback and I like them all - which is why I'd like to convert a coupe into one, as I do not posses the means to acquire an actual fastback in the country I reside in.
Additionally, I am not a purist, so I don't care about a lot of originality (though I admire and respect it) - I simply love the look of a fastback.
buy something like this and do some cutting and welding
Is a 4 wheel drive truck necessary to handle logging roads? Does a sedan have enough power and ground clearance to go up the mountains? Would a sedan's weak thin tires pop when it hits sharp objects?
I wanted to drive up into the wilderness specifically to hunting locations but all the good spots are deep in rough logging roads. I only got a sedan.
You could be fine for most of the travel but then come across an obstacle. Wash out, rock that's slightly too tall, whatever. Really depends on the specific road + road material.. gravel, mud, clay
