How the FUCK do I determine "positive" for these speaker wires? Apparently this is AC not DC as I thought so it isn't as simple as just checking with a multimeter.

Yes I know you can check the colors of the wires on the stock wiring harness, problem is, multiple sources quote different things for a 2000 explorer. Also metras wire harness that is used to quickly and easily hook up aftermarket speakers is known to reverse polarities because of a manufacturing defect they they refuse to acknowledge.

My autism DEMANDS I see first hand what the polarities are so I can know they are right. I had all 4 speakers hooked up and a subwoofer. the speakers sounded pretty average. The sub was great though. I have used these speakers in other cars and they sounded better, hence my wondering if the polarity is reversed.

TLDR; how do I determine polarity of AC voltage in this scenario?

Just purchased a Toyota Corolla S Plus 6 speed the other day and am already looking to make this thing more fun to drive. I just got a job that will allow me some expendable income so as an absolute noob when it comes to the mechanics of vehicles I've come to ask your advice.

I have already considered getting a sway bar to help the over-steering and getting a muffler as well as some cosmetic shit, but I would like to make the car quicker at least on the low end without fucking it up. I want to make it stand out on the street but not be a complete faggot and have everything under the hood stock.

The goal is to make the thing more FUN to drive and look different than the rest.

I understand I'll have to add better parts such as better brakes, clutch, etc. if I plan to do too much, I'm just looking for a starting point.

My miata (MX-5) is a piece of shit. It's a 1.6i NB from 2000 and it starts bad. It cranks fine, but it doesn't start well.

Here's what happens:
I try to start it, but it only cranks. I stop after cranking it for about 4 seconds. Loud bang comes out of the exhaust, possibly unburnt fuel. Crank again, it starts. This only happens with a cold engine. Warm engine? No problems at all. Does anybody recognize the issue? I've asked on numerous forums, asked a mate who follows an automotive education, asked someone who works on miatas for fun, but they didn't know. They gave me suggestions, like replacing spark plugs and spark plug wires. I replaced those, but to no avail. After installing the new spark plug wires I got an RPM idle dip to about 500 rpm at a stoplight, managed to fix that though.

Other suggestions I got so far:
- Leaking/clogged/non functional fuel injector(s), could explain the unburnt fuel that explodes in my exhaust system
- Something with my ECU, bad mapping or something so that it runs a rich blend at start with a cold engine (don't know all that much about this to be honest)
- (too much) fuel stuck on top of the piston

So this guy who works on miatas for fun told me to crank it once and when it doesn't start, pull the spark plugs out and see if they are covered in fuel. If they are, then that could be another clue in resolving my issue.

I honestly don't know what to do anymore. Please help.

I did up an insurance quote for pic related in Arizona.

Two options were:
1) $300 per year for what must be minimum required by law and didn't appear to cover anything (Stolen? Too bad! Crash? Too bad!)
2) $9,000 per year (yeah, thousand) with the only change to the quote being it's collision coverage for purchased price/value.

What do you guys do for insurance?

It shouldn't cost $9,000 to protect myself against loss of a $15,000 bike and that price suggests they are guaranteeing I'm dead within 18 months.

Trying not to rant, but in Australia I had a ZX12R insured for $10,000,000 liability (the norm in Australia) and full replacement value for about $600 per year. That was 1.5 years ago.
