M's vice-president of sales and marketing, Peter Quintus, says:

>about 450 horsepower (335kW) and 600Nm was more or less the limit of manual-gearbox durability.

Which is interesting considering the "outdated" gearboxes have been coping with more than that for years now.

Would 25 1000 dollar cars last longer than 1 25,000 dollar car and be cheaper with maintenance?

You are to stupid to live OP. kys
>>
depends on what you want to with the car OP.

But as a pure rational statement, i'd get the 25 000 and go to prostitutes, you'll have a much much better time than buying a car.
>>
>>17116788
Old cars are in most cases cheaper. But if buying a car is only a financial decision you should not be here.

If you drove a stock STI/Evo/RS hard on an actual rally stage, would they be able to handle it or would they fall apart?

They would make it through the stage and die probably. Look underneath one of those cars then look under a proper rally car. The suspension alone on a WRC car costs more than those cars.

Try these lines in a normal car and you'll rip the wheels off.

>an actual rally stage

Depends entirely on the stage.

About the only thing I can't see surviving is the suspension, i'm not sure a stock anything would survive being driven hard through a rally stage with any serious air, even one big jump and it's almost guaranteed to break *something* and put it out of action instantly.

Also your engine would last maybe 100kms with rally style anti lag. The engines are almost making full power at a little above their 2500rpm idle.

Hi guys. This is actually my first post, sorry if i have broken any rules. I'm about to buy this 71' Mustang from a private owner but I don't know a whole lot about cars in general, besides the basics. But - I've always admired these cars. I'm graduating college and I think it's great - but I feel like the guy is asking too much. Looking for some thoughts. Here are the facts: He's asking $7,500, but "negotiable". I ideally wanna pay $3,000-$4,000 Engine is a 221 Cleveland, obviously not original. Automatic 88,000 miles but the engine might have more (unknown) Drives great (I drove it). New tires and brakes. Power steering, power brakes. Modern radio. No horn (broken). Outside looks good besides a little rust here or there - BUT a very messed up interior. The right side of the trunk is rusted out and the springs are broken (you have to hold it open). The carpet and interior in general is torn up and very worn. Check out the photos and let me know - am i getting ripped off? How much should I actually be paying for this. Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks guys!

wut. There's a 221 windsor but not a Cleveland. It's worth more than what you're willing to pay senpai

Give him $6000 then go pull an LS from a junk yard van, and get some sheet steel, a grinder paint, and a welder to fix the rust. With your left over money get some less faggy rims.

Why are modern supercars so damn slow?

muh downforce

They should be even slower. The top speed wars handicapped aero and gearing to do something nobody who owns the car will ever do, but limited performance in all areas the car will actually be used in
>>
>>17115829
The ACR and NSX are proving that no matter how well balanced a car is, people like straight lines.

What's the point of tachometers?

You can just listen to the engine instead.
My first manual cars didn't have an RPM gauge and I got along just fine.

I really wish they would stop putting useless junk in cars.

It's useful for learning how quickly your revs drop off in a car between shifts imo.
>>
If you live anywhere other than Florida or Mexico, it's useful to know where your RPMs are in cold weather to reduce engine wear. Yes, you could just keep them as low as possible, or you can give yourself some more room while still being safe.

So I'm about to move to Guam for 3 years, and I'll be coming back to the states in 2020. So with import laws in mind, if I were to take a week in Japan to find a car, the latest year model I would be able take back to America correct? Cause I'm interested in getting an S14, I would like the s15 but that's a 1996 and up car, same with the s14 kouki. Just trying to understand so I can get a plan together for the future
21 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
2020 minus 25 years is 1995, so that narrows down your choices pretty well. Which is good because in most states, OBD1 cars have looser emissions standards.
>>
So an S14 is an definite option then
>>
See if you can find a NAVAN s14 op, it's the only s14 worth getting that you could actually get. Or you could get a nice built up normal Zenki and get the kouki front end, I hear they're still in abundance over there.

Manual.
Do you want to get angry at your gearbox all the time?
Automatic
>>
>>17111494
Does it really make shitty decisions sometimes?
>>
Buy a manual if you want to make having fun in this car a priority. Buy an automatic if you'd just like to throttle and steer the car.

A bit of a silly question, but do you anons think that your choice in decal or bumper stickers could reduce the chances of getting pulled over or increase the chance of them letting you off with a warning?

< pic related

I'm sure we'd all agree there are many many decals that have the opposite effect. So what puts police employees in a good mood?

Admittedly I'd be surprised if it made much/any difference. The thing that makes me curious is when I'm at work (popular food delivery chain) and I have my branded topper on I swear I notice that cops are less interested in my car or driving. I have a radar detector and have definitely blown past some patrols with the gun scanning me during busy lunch rushes and have never gotten lit up on the job. Alternatively when im driving off work at the wee hours of the night I see squad cars casually follow me for awhile before going on their way, probably assuming im out buying drugs (usually the case)

I have a scion tc (which is already a statistically giant cop magnet) I bought when i was young dumb and full of fun and would get pulled over kinda regularly before I finally undid most of the juvenile ricey cosmetic alterations my younger self thought was cool

OP again, if this theory does have any merit I'd wager the Army mom ribbon, breast cancer ribbon (the mom is a nice touch but might scream bs in a millennial mobile like mine), and the Lyft/Uber stickers would be most effective

I'm most confident in the ride sharing logos because it offers a legitimate reason for you to be out on the road a plausible reason for slightly erratic driving as you might be looking for an unfamiliar address or wandering group of riders.

From what ive read about how to handle being pulled over the consensus is that unpredictability makes cops nervous and should be avoided if you want them on your good side (turning off the car, not activating the brake lights, keeping your hands on the wheel until they approach rather than digging for your license/registration in preparation). Offering ANY explanation for what you're up to is better than none no?
