I'm planning to get my gearbox overhauled soon and while i'm at it i plan on throwing an LSD in there. so there are helical and clutch operated LSDs. besides price whats the difference between them?
Visit a forum applicable to your vehicle first, there will be serious owners and weekenders such as yourself.
There will most likely be cheaper options, but most OS giken kits claim lifetime warranties and are pretty much the only industry standard around. Buy right, buy once, but don't waste your money.
If you're not tracking it, go helical. If you are, you wouldn't be asking. Clutch packs wear out (OS claims they never will, many people back this up), but helical offers far better streetability and is far more progressive.

Thats not where those go, OP.

Post Cars that are never mentioned, despite being quite good. I'll Start
>Improved GNX engine
>Understated horsepower, actually around 300 hp
>Fastest American car at the time
>Fastest version of the Firebird ever
>0-60 in 4.6 seconds in 1989
>Amazing hectic 80's styling
>I still have not seen just one post about them
Why? Loads of people jack off to the Grand Nationals and SVO Mustangs, I cannot be the only person who wants one.

>Unreliable American trash.
Into the junkyard it goes.

Just a friendly reminder that your car isn't cool unless it's been in a fast and furious movie.
>>17166717
>movie
The Fast & Furious pictures are flicks at best.
>>17166717
This.
Though I'd like to make a correction by adding *if your car hasn't appeared in the first 3 Fast and Furious movies.
New Fag to /o/ im in quite the predicament as im contemplating on whether to buy a motorbike or buy driving lessons for car hours which cost $100 each lesson which gets you 3 hours. (need 120 hours to drive by myself without supervision where as with a motorbike you can drive immediately after you do your first test)
None of my family members are willing to get my hours up, i usually walk or rely on public transportation to get where i need to go.
Thoughts?
Rip
>>17166510
Honestly it looks like you're underage. But disregarding the lessons, hours don't matter (at least in my state, looking at the rules now), and car>bike
>>17166517
I turn 19 in July this year.
And thanks for the response.
I don't get it, the car is worth what people are willing to pay for, the talk of it being overpriced is seriously blown out of proportion. I think people forget how old these things are and how they've been used as the car to rape for the past 30 years. I think people also forgot that the Ford Escort MK2 is very similar to the AE86, in terms of it's popularity and increasing price overtime yet I see no hate for it.
Shut the fuck up retard
>>17166278
>average price of 15k for a jap rustbucket
>normal
>>17166278
Because of the weebs who like it because of LE DAGUMMI XDDDDD
Both are 2012
Both are around the $40k mark (for low miles, certified used, warranty, etc)
Both are available with a stick and clutch transmission
Both are expensive to maintain
Which one would you buy?
The Porsche
>>17165938
I have the one on the left. My wife wouldn't let me get the one on the right.
>>17165958
Why?
Why not?
I feel this has reached autistic levels. I mean, there's iconic and there's autistic. Am I crazy to think that the grill has really started to hold them back? Like all design has just stagnated because they've chained themselves to the grill?
Stop buying Mercedes Benz.
>>17165946
I don't get the joke. I was asking honestly.
At least the grill is actually used for air intake, meanwhile Mercedes uses the largest badges possible on their cars. They actually have the largest badges of any car maker in the world.
Can someone explain this fucking bullshit to me?
These fucking things shouldn't be a dime over 10k.
What a racket.
>>17165925
All heavy equipment is insanely expensive.
>>17165925
They're heavy as fuck and built to last. That's going to cost you. Same reason why highway tractors cost so much.
>>17165925
then do what everyone else does, get a F350, and a trailer which you'll need anyway and find an unattended one in a job site.
the ignition is dead simple to replace/rekey, not like they have electronic immobilizers or shit.
If you're to chickenshit to do it yourself, I'm sure the biker prospects who work in concrete will get you one for $0.09 over 10k. guaranteed some meth head owns one and owes them money

Hey /o/ I need help, I know a little about cars and read the sticky but it doesn't cover what I need. I need somewhere I can learn about all the bulk shit that goes in a car such as oil squirters, pistons, cams, headers, timing systems, etc.. Current plan is to buy a 350z with a rear end collision or a third gen camero and possibly build/have built a cute NA motor or something I can be proud of (if I have enough $ at the end)and sell at the end of the summer when I go to college and give them all my money. Just need links to places that have videos or big ass posts with detail so I don't have to rely on my two friends who actually know what they're doing compared to me who can only turn a wrench. Thanks :)
Almost forgot, any tips for fixing unibody stuff would be appreciated as well as other cars I could try to fix instead of the 350 or camero, I just want something sporty
>>17165624
this is a stupid idea
>>17165624
if you dont know shit about cars at this point you might as well save your money and not spend it on something you know nothing about. the probability of you successfully "building" a car based off of no knowledge is very low.
should've taken auto shop classes in high school anon.
The previous owner converted my headlights to HID. I'm having a problem with the passenger low beam. It hardly ever works, it didn't come on for a couple weeks and then randomly started working again the other night. Could the problem be the bulb or the ballast? pic unrelated
