Why do all modern cars feel the need to have these big-ass ugly zippers running down the backs of seats? Also modern car hate thread.
>all modern cars look the same
>black interiors
>hard touch plastic everywhere
>terrible fit and finish
>too much electronic shit
>27 airbags
>lane departure warning
>electronic stability control
>backup camera
>forward camera
>blind spot camera
If the rest of America knew how to drive we wouldn't need all these ridiculous safety """"""""features"""""""".
My main gripe about modern cars is the seats, every time i get into a newer car it feels like i'm sitting on a cheap office chair that starts to hurt your ass after a half hour
what the fuck happened to plush seats ?

Tfw Saab isn't around to save us from this hell.
Clutch pedal started making a squeaking sound when I press it and lift my foot up.
should I be worried. what could be the issue?
Did it rain recently
>>17188234
no, as long as it feels the same, the return spring is probably dry, try putting some lithium grease on it the spring near the top of the pedal.
>>17188258
yes why? does that affect it. was quite a cold dewy morning
>>17188683
feels normal and fucntions the same otherwise. just a bit of noise
Just got some leather seats from a town car at a pick and pull and set them up in my crown vic.
I was thinking of cleaning them up. Are leather cleaners/treatments a scam like armor-all cracking old dashboards? If not, whats a good way to shine up and protect leather?
>>17188066
You'll get much better answers on google or /diy/.
Nevertheless a good leather cleaner/shine is all you need.
>>17188066
Lexol
>>17188066
they're not a scam, but they're useless if you don't have real leather, which most cars do not. my 2010 King Ranch had real analine leather seats and I conditioned them with Leather CPR about every other week. I loved the feel and the smell of them.

Is buying a new car worth it?
>>17187689
Its not.
>>17187689
It's only worth it if you can just fully pay it off on the spot if not then here is some advise I'll give you guys.
If you work minimum wage:
>buy a shit box from Craig's list or anything similar to that website
>buy one from a used car dealership if you want to make some credit
If you make more than 15 bucks an hour:
>finance a cheap economy car or a used "sports" car
For the rich or wealthy then do as you please
>>17187721
>finance a cheap economy car
A used one or new?

In 2017, diesel has become better than petrol.
Prove me wrong
Diesel pros
>more torque
>more economical
>more power down low
>overtakes faster
>power delivery rough as fuck makes it feel faster than it is
Diesel cons
>muh sound
>muh 1000 fewer revs
>muh powerband starts at 2000 instead of 4000
>pollutes more (who cares??)
here's a pic of a 125d getting 16 mpg at 150 mph on the autobahn. on a regular run keeping a very fast rhythm it will get 35/40 mpg us easily.
you can set the cruise at 120 mph and it will return almost 25 mpg.
it has 225 hp and 330 ft lb (450 nm) and goes 0-60 in 6.3 seconds.
why would a sane human being go for the 125i which is going to get 35% worse fuel economy while being slower most times in the real world?
There is LITERALLY no objective advantage to petrol anymore.

Diesel cars literally don't run at high altitude.
I want to get into vintage racing.
The local club only allows pre-1972 cars.
I will have about $12K after the sale of my Spec Miata.

Datsun 510 my dude

a mini maybe, or an MGB.
Have a look at your motorsports classifieds
Why do bongs like the Ferd so much?
Because of the cheap finance pay monthly jew that always gets advertised over here. I can't not look at a brand new Focus and think of the pay monthly jew
Because they've had their own division for the last 106 years and made their own cars for the last 84 years.
they actually got good Fords and have a nice racing history so its justified
if they just got all the lame burger shit I would understand why you ask
At what point is a car no longer considered a shitbox
When it's not American.
>when it is scarce
>expensive to buy
>you can't afford to lose it (sentimental or financial reasons)
>If it's made after 2006
Let's say I put the air intake outside of my car, shielded from the head of the engine like behind an open spot of the bumper, would I gain 5hp? My shitbox has only 60 at 1800lbs so 5 would be noticeable.
No. It only sounds cool
*heat, not head

Ok, thank you.
so im looking for a next car and as i live and work in a city i prefer A/T. I dont like slow cars (even more with an automatic transmission) so i'd like something more powerful than my current dd: galant 2.5 V6 160HP - while not the slowest it leaves a lot to be desired.
Also, preferably sedan or estate
Currently I'm considering Saab 9-3 2.8 V6 which has around 250HP so it'd be a considerable upgrade, any opinions?
I live in slavland so my choice can be somewhat limited
>>17186248
>muh hp
stop being a benchracer faggot. what's wrong with the galant? (besides being a mitsubishi)
>>17186311
literally nothing, but it has rust, not a lot but it's starting to get visible
besides i had it for several years and i guess it's time to change (but to be honest i'm still on the fence about it as it's always been very reliable)
