The Texas Biomedical Research Institute announced preliminary approval for a new and expanded “level 4” laboratory, built to the industry’s tightest safety precautions to study the world’s most lethal infectious diseases.
The level 4 lab allows scientists to work with infectious diseases for which there is no known cure, such as Ebola, Marburg and Lassa fever.

Probably because the institute was never in danger and they just pulled that article out of their ass.

Or it is in fact in danger and the government ordered the article deleted to prevent widespread panic about a deadly virus escaping.

I've been in the level four in Galveston right after Ike. It was fine.

San Antonia, where the Institute is located, isn't in any danger from the hurricane. Weather scans of last 24 hours have shown that it is largely east and north of Houston, and only going farther east as it dissipates over Arkansas, Mississippi. Probably put up the article because they were banking on the average 'murikan not being able to read a weather chart and want that internet traffic clickbait.

Epic meme my good sir, do how do I upvote on this sub?

I saw someone post on facebook who said they were the communications person for the place and that's it's not true. There was no breach of water into the lab, and I doubt anything would happen anyway if it did.
Sad though, I trusted Huff Post more before I saw this.

>There is no timetable for the expansion of the level 4 capabilities, which makes up almost 40 percent of the Texas Biomedal’s operations, said Dr. Larry Schlesinger, the institute’s president and CEO. The exact location, design and cost of the project is not yet known.
Because there was nothing to report on it. It was never up and running.
