So what do you guys think about this?
Will it all go horribly wrong and everyone will die or will we get cure for many diseases?
>>1470
It could also lead to incurable plagues that could wipe out 99% of humanity, but I guess there is a little risk in everything anyways. So why not?
The future of humanity is gene manipulation, and it's going to happen no matter what we do, so bring it on.
It's going to result in Nazis 2: Electric Boogaloo, so I hope you're ready for China to turn their affluent population into the Aryan master race :^)

>Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson is traveling to the Middle East this weekend to meet with Syrian refugees.
>The retired neurosurgeon has been facing questions about his command of foreign policy. Carson will tour one of Jordan's major refugee camps on Friday and Saturday, campaign manager Barry Bennett said. Bennett declined to release more details about the two-day mission because of security concerns.
>Like other Republicans, Carson has sometimes taken a harsh tone when discussing the issue. Last week, he likened blocking potential terrorists posing as Syrian refugees to handling a rabid dog.
>"We have to have in place screening mechanisms that allow us to determine who the mad dogs are, quite frankly," he said. "Who are the people who want to come in here and hurt us and want to destroy us?"
can someone explain to me how he goes and visits these camps do they just like let him walk around? do they tell the people he's running for president? do the refugees ask why he's black?

When your political agenda is to avoid these tragedies, you're allowed to do that.
http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/the-dawn-of-the-space-mining-age/
>The recent passage of the Space Act of 2015 in the U.S. House and Senate marks a key milestone for the commercial space industry. Ever since the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, nations have been banned from claiming or appropriating any celestial resource such as the Moon or another planet. Formally titled the “Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies,” the nearly fifty year old agreement has formed the basis of international space law ever since.
>Now that’s about to change.
I would post more but the character limit in OP posts on this board is ridiculously low.

now the space mining laws

This really makes me wonder if there are going to be asteroid wars between corporations and nations of earth in 50-100 years.
>>593
One this is for sure. War is going to change drastically in space. I'm not talking about different weapons. You'll have very little warning time against any kind of attack, and anybody with a spaceship would be capable of dealing critical damage to an entire colony.

I like what Bernie's doing, but he'll become the next JFK even if he DOES get elected, which is mechanically impossible considering most voting booths are rigged anyway.
The last chance we had at a real democratic government in America died when Bryan lost the election.

Mocking the disabled doesn't fly with even the most staunch conservatives.
Was bound to happen eventually. The guy is a protest candidate. He's not really cut out for politics, and he doesn't really understand the issues or the policies his underlings have written for him.
I freely admit that Trump was badly needed by Republicans as a way to break up the completely dysfunctional establishment, but as an actual candidate he leaves a lot to be desired. I'd like to see Cruz pick up a lot of the support that Trump is losing. He's another anti-establishment candidate, but he's a much much stronger contender when it comes to actual policies and political savvy.
It's rather humorous that you mention he has had a 'drop' in polls but is still far, far in the lead.

http://nypost.com/2015/11/22/struggling-firefighter-injured-after-just-10-days-into-new-job/
>A firefighter who was allowed to graduate the Fire Academy despite failing physical tests has already gone out on medical leave — just 10 days into the job, The Post has learned.
>Probationary firefighter Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder injured herself Monday while conducting a routine check of equipment at Queens’ Engine 308 in South Richmond Hill. Getting off the truck, Doirin-Holder missed a step and landed on her left foot, suffering a fracture, sources said.
>It was her second shift after a transfer from Engine 301. In training for a hazmat assignment, officers found her struggling to perform the required tasks.
>Doirin-Holder, who turns 40 this month, is one of 282 “priority hires” passed over in 1999 and 2000. Federal Judge Nicholas Garaufis ordered they must get preference as victims of past discrimination against minorities.
>It was Doirin-Holder’s third attempt to pass the academy. She failed midway through an academy class in 2013 and returned to her former job as an EMT. Two other female priority hires in that class did well.
>Doirin-Holder started another class in early 2014 but dropped out because of an injury. The FDNY then gave her a desk job and kept her on the payroll at top firefighter salary, $76,488. She made $81,376 with overtime in 2014 and entered her third class this summer.
>Since she was injured on duty, she is eligible for a disability pension that would pay three-quarters of her annual salary, tax-free, if deemed unfit to return.
