Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday Muravsky’s dismissal in a Sunday statement that said the “public reaction” to a series of Muravsky’s photos had led to Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak’s decision to dismiss him.
The controversy surrounding Muravsky’s photos–and if they were staged or not–is particularly sensitive as the Ukrainian government has sought to distance itself from any potential comparisons to its Russian counterpart, which has been accused of spreading propaganda in an effort to win over public perception in the now two-year-old conflict between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed separatists.
“The Ministry of Defense recognizes the work of [Dmitry Muravsky]. [The] Defense Agency has received a lot of his high quality and artistic design photos that were never considered by the Ministry as documentary or real war photos,” the statement said. “Ukraine has always adhered to the principle of uncompromising truth and transparency in its war against the Russian aggression, including Russian propaganda.”
Business Insider published an article featuring the images titled “Images from the front lines of Ukraine are a vivid reminder that there’s still a war going on in Europe” and then-Ambassador to Ukraine Geoff Pyatt tweeted the photos as “Amazing new images from the #Shyrokyne front of Ukraine’s forgotten war – outside #Mariupol.”
Muravsky had been hired on June 16 to help “establish the Information and Coordination Centre for volunteer photographers, cameraman, artists, filmmakers and scriptwriters” that would “allow them to create a high quality content” for Ukrainian armed forces, according to the Ministry of Defense’s statement regarding his dismissal.

>A woman who said she was selling crickets and worms on a crowded New York City subway car appeared to become frazzled by some teenagers and let the critters loose on riders, then urinated on herself, according to social media posts and news reports.
>Riders on the subway train were locked in close quarters with the bugs for half an hour during rush hour on Wednesday evening after a passenger pulled the train’s emergency brake while they were on the Manhattan Bridge.
>Two days later, on Friday, a woman who identified herself as Zaida Pugh came forward, saying she staged the episode as a prank to raise awareness of how people treat the homeless. She said she is an actress and was not concerned about a backlash from inconvenienced commuters.
>“Of course they’ll be angry with me, but I guess I’m just doing me. I’m waking people up with my shows, my acts,” she said by telephone.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/02/politics/vladimir-putin-bloomberg-dnc-hack/
>Russian President Vladimir Putin denied having any involvement in the hack of the Democratic National Committee in early August, in an interview published Friday, but said it's "important" the contents of the DNC emails were made public.
>A US official saying earlier this summer there was "little doubt" Russia was behind the attack.
>"I don't know anything about it, and on a state level Russia has never done this," Putin told Bloomberg News. Still, Putin asked if it matters "who hacked this data," and argued that "the important thing is the content that was given to the public."
>The Russian president also commented on the US presidential election. Putin said that he has no preference among the two major party candidates, but criticized them for playing "the anti-Russian card."
"I don't think they are setting the best example," he said.
...
>The Russian president maintained his neutrality in the race for president, but was sharply critical of both Clinton and Republican Donald Trump's rhetoric during the campaign.
>"They're both using shock tactics, just each in their own way. I don't think they are setting the best example," he said.
Putin also said Clinton and Trump were being "shortsighted" by playing "the anti-Russian card." But he noted that both candidates are "very smart people" who "understand which buttons you need to press," explaining that he viewed the attacks on Russia as "part of the U.S. political culture."
>And Putin rejected a criticism, leveled by critics and opponents of Clinton, that the sale of a Canadian uranium mining company to a Russian company in 2013 was approved by the State Department under Clinton in exchange for a $2.35 million donation to the Clinton Foundation by the chairman of the company.
>"Does that mean we control the Clinton family? That's complete nonsense," Putin said.

>A group of PhD students from the MIT Media Lab and researchers from Microsoft Research have come up with the ultimate wearable: a temporary tattoo that can turn into a touchpad, remotely control your smartphone, or share data using NFC.
>The technology, which is described on MIT's website and will be presented in full at a wearables symposium next month, is called DuoSkin. The researchers say you can design a circuit using any graphic software, stamp out the tattoo in gold leaf (which is conductive to electricity), and then apply other commodity materials and components that would make the tattoo interactive.

Colorado reporting.
It's been hot and raining in the afternoons. It's mostly hot because the sun just beats down, so it's actually nice in the morning or if a cloud rolls by, but once the sun is up and there are no clouds it's too hot.
Also shouldn't /we/ support images? I could include a pic of my brown grass or the perfect blue sky without a cloud in sight.
It's hot in Louisiana

>David Newlands, 24, was given 150 hours community service for punching a vulnerable man in Glasgow last year.
>He refused to perform the unpaid work and was twice given another chance.

>'Extremely disturbing'
>
>The judge told the eight accused: "This whole incident, some of which was captured on CCTV, is extremely disturbing.
>
>"The group, like a pack of animals, turned on an entirely innocent young man for no good reason other than he behaved differently because he has learning difficulties."
>
>Three of those who pursued Mr Miller were originally charged with attempted murder.
...
>Jade Park, 19, from Glasgow, who sparked the incident by falsely calling Mr Miller "a beast" admitted punching him in Jamaica Street and in the Crystal Palace pub.
>
>Judge Ritchie sentenced a 17-year-old male to six months detention for assault.
>
>He deferred sentence on Park, who is about to give birth, until June for good behaviour and imposed a community payback order on all the others and ordered then to perform 150 hours unpaid work in the community.

A dog swam more than 6 miles and walked a dozen more to find its family after falling overboard into Lake Michigan during the weekend.
Edward Casas was boating on the lake Sunday with his wife, Kristin, and the family dog, a 10-month old Belgian Malinois (MAL'-ehn-wah) named Rylee. Casas tells ABC News Rylee went overboard while he was in the engine room trying to figure out a mechanical problem with the boat and his wife was steering.
Casas says he sent out a mayday call on the radio and was connected to a volunteer group that searches for lost dogs.
The next morning someone spotted Rylee going into a nearby campground. Edward Casas says there was a lot of sobbing and hugging when the family was reunited with him.

Can you believe the BBC the most corrupt corporation in the UK has today impletmented a law requiring you to have a license even for using their catch up services on a laptop.
The worst thing about this is that they are threating to monitor peoples data in order to catch them out!

I feel bad for the women in the new ghostbusters, they should have rejected the offer to be cast in the movie, because their reputations and careers are now going to be tarnished over this shit show cash grab.
Stop remaking classic 80s movies, stop remaking classic 80s movies with "progressive themes", especially after you promised a remake with the original cast. These women don't deserve this shit, but they shouldn't have been apart of it in the first place. It's just sad that they have to suffer for some corporate hacks who sat around a table and said
>hey we could make fucking bank off of ghostbusters, and lets make it more progressive! Fuck the original! We'll be rich rich rich!

We already have a harambe thread OP.
A dwarf billy goat gave new meaning to the word "scapegoat" when he busted out a surprisingly slippery Clydesdale that went on the lam in California for several days.
The nearly 1-ton horse named Budweiser, who goes by "Buddy," was safely wrangled back into his pen Sunday in the Santa Cruz Mountains on California's Central Coast.
The goat named Lancelot knows how to butt open the stable gate, and did just that Wednesday, letting his best friend escape, owner Tamara Schmitz told the Santa Cruz Sentinel newspaper
Another Clydesdale, Harry, also fled and was nabbed in a meadow the next day. But Buddy is more wary and wily, Schmitz said.
"Buddy's very elusive," she said. "He's not like other horses. He's not attracted by meadows and other horses. He can stay hidden."
That made him very hard to find. He eluded volunteers from around the Santa Cruz area for five days, with evidence like tracks and loud snorts suggesting he was as far as 3 miles away.
The owners even trotted out Lancelot and Harry to try to lure back Buddy, but he didn't fall for it. They just hoped the horse would stay away from Highway 17, a busy and dangerous road running through the area.
A pair of searchers on horseback finally found Buddy hiding amid manzanita shrubs Sunday.
"When we got him back in the pen, he was particularly frisky and playful and happy," Schmitz said. "I think he was glad to be back."
