what i predict is if China tries to pull anything suspicious we will have US & Canada, Japan, SK, EU, Russia, India, and maybe Brazil and Iran may develop / adapt their systems and infrastructure for self-contained intranets.

it's not immediately clear to me how China can force IANA to refuse to service a website.
I'm sure they might do it; but the nature of the arrangement of how it will be governed isn't apparent to me so I don't know what they might do to take advantage of the fact that it's no longer under control of the US government.

Police say a villager in southwest China killed his parents and then 17 neighbors in an attempt to cover up his crime, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Friday.

An investigation found that Yang Qingpei argued with his parents over money on Wednesday evening and killed them, Xinhua said. Fearing he would be identified as the killer, he then murdered 17 neighbors in the village of Yema, it said, citing police in southwestern Yunnan province where the village is located.

Xinhua didn’t say how Yang, who is 26 or 27, allegedly killed the villagers.

He was arrested in the provincial capital of Kunming, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) away, on Thursday, a few hours after the bodies from different households were discovered.

The deaths are one of the bloodiest mass slayings in recent years in China, where deadly random attacks on schools and public transport have been blamed on people bearing grudges against their families, neighbors or society in general.

Because firearms are tightly controlled in China, mass killings are usually carried out with knives, poison, homemade explosives or by arson.

>Donald Trump’s charitable foundation — which has been sustained for years by donors outside the Trump family — has never obtained the certification that New York requires before charities can solicit money from the public, according to the state attorney general’s office.

>Under the laws in New York, where the Donald J. Trump Foundation is based, any charity that solicits more than $25,000 a year from the public must obtain a special kind of registration beforehand. Charities as large as Trump’s must also submit to a rigorous annual audit that asks — among other things — whether the charity spent any money for the personal benefit of its officers.

....

>Tax filings show that in each of the past 10 years for which there are records, the Trump Foundation raised more than $25,000 from outsiders. Tax records alone do not reveal whether the donations amounted to solicitations under New York law, but in several cases there is strong evidence that they did.

>For instance, the foundation has received more than $2.3 million from companies that owed money to Trump or one of his businesses — but that were instructed to pay the foundation instead, according to people familiar with those transactions.

>In the most obvious example of a public solicitation, the Trump Foundation set up a website early this year to collect small-dollar donations that it promised to pass along to veterans. In all, the website said, the Trump Foundation took in $1.67 million through that site.

This.

What I don't get is that all this knowledge is basically in public domain. Therefore I draw the conclusion that all the associated governing bodies involved in this case came to a solution be it either the Trump org. winning OR paying fine / settling the case.

In the end all this buzz in the media is just presenting a candidate by highlighting all of the negative things about them. It would be boring and not in the interest of the big donors behind the networks to showcase candidates they are clearly in disfavor in any appealing way. To make it short, creating a race and as a result generating ad revenue.

http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/305309/donald-trump-rape-lawsuit-refiled-new-witness/

>In June, we told you about the rape lawsuit filed anonymously against both Donald Trump and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. One week later, we explained why, given the presence of a witness, the case should be taken seriously, and in August, we explored how this and two other rape allegations against Trump have been roundly ignored by TV news media. Last month, the civil suit had been withdrawn for some reason, but, on Friday, “Jane Doe v. Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein” had been refiled, and, this time, another witness has been added to the legal complaint.

>The complaint alleges four separate assaults by Trump and three by Epstein, after being “enticed by promises of money and a modeling career to attend a series of parties, with other similarly situated minor females, held at a New York City residence.”

>In addition to the graphic details of the rapes, one particularly horrifying allegation is that after the first time Trump raped the plaintiff and threatened her family, Epstein immediately raped her again

>Trump’s attorney has denied the existence of any relationship between [Trump and Epstein], even though the Republican presidential nominee told New York Magazine in 2002 that Epstein is “a terrific guy” who “likes beautiful women as much as I do,” while admitting that “many of them are on the younger side.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/23/us/david-duke-senate-louisiana.html

>David Duke, a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, embarked on a campaign on Friday to seek a United States Senate seat as a Republican in Louisiana, where he will try to capitalize on his history of inflammatory speech and on the presidential campaign of Donald J. Trump.

>The decision by Mr. Duke, a former state representative whose unsuccessful campaigns include bids for Congress, governor and president, thrust him into a sprawling field for the Senate seat and intensified what was already poised to be a raucous race.

>But before Mr. Duke could even file his qualifying paperwork in Baton Rouge, the capital of Louisiana, Republicans there and in Washington were distancing themselves from a campaign they plainly expected to be marked by racism and anti-Semitism.

>“I believe in equal rights for all and respect for all Americans,” Mr. Duke said in a campaign video. “However, what makes me different is I also demand respect for the rights and the heritage of European Americans.”

What a ridiculous story over nothing. It's up to each county in every state to screen out fraudulent voter registrations. It's obvious that this story is being used by those who claim voter IDs are necessary, when in reality you shouldn't be able to register to vote at all without the State & County you are in checking that you are who you say you are. Stop pretending like there have been more than 30 cases of voter fraud in the last 20 years and that voting fraud in the US is rampant.

>An agency within the Health and Human Services Department on Wednesday issued a rule that bars any nursing home that receives federal funding from requiring that its residents resolve any disputes in arbitration, instead of court.

>The rule, which would affect nursing homes with 1.5M residents, promises to deliver major new protections. Clauses embedded in the fine print of nursing home admissions contracts have pushed disputes about safety and the quality of care out of public view.

>The system has helped the nursing home industry reduce its legal costs, but it has stymied the families of nursing home residents from getting justice, even in the case of murder.

>A case involving a 100-year-old woman who was found murdered in a nursing home, strangled by her roommate, was initially blocked from court. So was a case brought by the family of a 94-year-old woman who died at a nursing home in Murrysville, Pa., from a head wound.

>The nursing home industry reacted strongly against the change. Mark Parkinson, the president and chief executive of the American Health Care Association, a trade group, said in a statement on Wednesday that the change on arbitration “clearly exceeds” the agency’s statutory authority and was “wholly unnecessary to protect residents’ health and safety.”

>The new rule on arbitration came after officials in 16 states and the District of Columbia urged the government to cut off funding to nursing homes that use the clauses, arguing that arbitration kept patterns of wrongdoing hidden from prospective residents and their families.

>It is the most significant overhaul of the agency’s rules governing federal funding of long-term care facilities in more than two decades.

>In May, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau unveiled the draft of a rule that would prevent credit card companies and other financial firms from using arbitration clauses that bar consumers from banding together in a class-action lawsuit.

Paramedic here, this is good legislation. Too many nursing homes, not all or even the majority, but too many are negligent and only exist to keep their "patients" alive while collecting medicare.
>>
>>75589
Anyone with half a brain can see how the old system of forcing disputes to arbitration could be abused.

However I can't help but sympathise with Mark Parkinson here, America has a shitty justice system that is hugely busy with lawsuits and hugely expensive. Frankly I'd want no part of it either.

But the time to publicly criticise this has passed, he needs to move forwards.

I don't know if my soul is corrupt enough to do this, but... I'm getting an idea to creat myself a fake SJW persona who will angrily insist that what happened to Harambe was for the best, not for any fault of the gorilla, but, that the entire species should be put down because of the fact cis, white people have been using the term 'ape or gorilla' to insult black people for generations, and that the very concept of large apes has been irrevocably tainted by that slander. Animals are wonderful, but, people's feelings matter more, yadda yadda yadda, bla blah blah bloo, I'd gigure out more believable phrasing for it if I actually tried to pull it off.

>In an alarming victory for the gun lobby, Missouri’s Republican-controlled Legislature voted Wednesday to override Gov. Jay Nixon’s veto and enact a wholesale retreat from gun safety in the state.
>The law will let citizens carry concealed weapons in public without a state gun permit, criminal background check or firearms training. It strips local law enforcement of its current authority to deny firearms to those guilty of domestic violence and to other high-risk individuals. And it establishes a dangerous “stand your ground” standard that will allow gun owners to shoot and claim self-defense based on their own sense of feeling threatened.

The measure has drawn no great national attention, but it certainly provides further evidence that gun safety cannot be left to state lawmakers beholden to the gun lobby. Democrats opposed to the Missouri bill called it a “perfect storm” of lowered standards for the use of deadly force and an invitation for people to be armed without responsible controls. The measure was enacted by the Republicans, despite strong public opposition and warnings about the threat to public safety from the state Police Chiefs Association. Everytown for Gun Safety, one of the groups fighting the gun lobby, noted that stand your ground laws result in disproportionate harm to communities of color.
>Mr. Nixon, a Democrat, vetoed the measure in June, saying it would allow individuals with a criminal record to legally carry a concealed firearm even though they had been, or would have been, denied a permit under the old law’s background check. Mayors Sly James of Kansas City and Francis Slay of St. Louis warned against restricting the power of the local police to deny guns to those who commit domestic violence. They cited sharp spikes in domestic violence homicides in their cities, and they noted that the police would be left at greater risk by this bill
