Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. (HMM) released a statement refuting the Wall Street Journal’s recent report on HMM’s failure in joining 2M alliance on December 1.

The Wall Street Journal said on November 30 (local time), “The world’s largest container-shipping alliance has decided not to allow Hyundai Merchant Marine Co. to join amid customer backlash, dealing a blow to the troubled South Korean shipping concern," by quoting the saying of a senior executive with the 2M alliance who declined to be identified. The executive said, “We reckon that at this point going to bed with Hyundai could shake customer confidence so we are looking for looser forms of cooperation.” The media added that Hyundai Merchant wasn't immediately available for comment.

The US-based economic journal went on saying, “In a November note to clients, Maersk Line said that rather than Hyundai Merchant becoming a 2M alliance member, the parties are looking ‘at other cooperation possibilities’ including taking over Hyundai Merchant’s chartered vessels and deploying them into the 2M network.”

In the statement, however, HMM said, “The WSJ’s article released today didn’t include a full understanding of what HMM and 2M discussed. HMM and 2M are still in negotiations over details of alliance membership and we will wrap up the negotiations at the meetings scheduled in Europe next week.”

Moreover, the company added that it plans to give a full detail of its results and backdrops to the press as soon as the negotiations are completed later. Hyundai Merchant had signed a memorandum of understanding to join the 2M alliance in July.

Meanwhile, HMM formed a consortium with TiL, a subsidiary of MSC’s terminal business, to join a bid to acquire the Total Terminals International (TTI)’s Long Beach terminal. The partnership of MSC and HMM will help the TTI Long Beach terminal to be normalized early and strengthen its competitiveness. With mutual cooperation, it will be able to provide customers with efficient logistics and terminal services, said HMM.

http://qz.com/850369/google-lunar-xprize-teamindus-a-new-competitor-from-india-schedules-its-private-moon-mission-for-2017/

>The global race back to the moon has a fourth entrant: TeamIndus, an Indian enterprise, has secured a contract with the Indian government for a rocket that will fly a probe to the moon in 2017 in an attempt to win the $30 million Google Lunar XPrize.

>TeamIndus will be the first private entity to exclusively use India’s main rocket, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which has flown satellites for countries around the world and launched India’s Mars orbiter in 2013.

>Competitors hoping to win the Lunar XPrize must land a probe on the moon; use it to transmit photographs, video, and data back to earth; and move it some 500 meters across the lunar surface. The contest is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the private space sector and to lay the groundwork for a future economy in space.

>Team Indus’ main competitors for the prize are MoonExpress, an American company that aims to fly on a rocket built by the company Rocket Lab, and SpaceIL, an Israeli nonprofit that booked a flight on a SpaceX Falcon 9. Another international group, Team Synergy, plans to fly on an experimental rocket built by Interorbital Systems, a company owned by two of Synergy’s co-founders.

>TeamIndus is alone among the competitors to announce a specific launch window, set for Dec. 28, 2017. The other competitors hope to launch sooner than that, but with SpaceX still grounded following its September accident, Rocket Labs still awaiting the first flight of its vehicle, and Interorbital’s rocket still under construction, it’s anyone’s game.

>So far, only three governments—the USSR, the United States, and China—have landed functioning probes on the lunar surface.

>TeamIndus boasts a 100-person engineering team, and describes itself as a group of young colts and older “jedi masters”—retired scientists from India’s space agency, the Indian Space Research Organization. The team is backed by a who’s-who of Indian business leaders, including Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, Rana Tata of the Tata Group, and Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal of Flipkart.

>“[India is] ready to take to the global stage in demonstrating a capability for building deep technology and competing with the best in the world,” Nilekani says. “I invested in TeamIndus because they’re the face of New India, and I believe they will inspire the next generation of innovators and achievers.”

>The Google Lunar XPrize was announced in 2007 following the success of the Ansari X Prize, which offered $10 million to the first non-governmental organization to launch a reusable manned spacecraft twice in two weeks. The Ansari prize was won by the company Scaled Composites, with a vehicle that would be come the basis for Virgin Galactic’s still unrealized space tourism hopes.

https://www.americanbazaaronline.com/2016/11/30/donald-trump-calls-terrific-nawaz-sharif-praises-pakistan-pakistanis-amazing-fantastic/

>NEW YORK: By now, the new normal is to be surprised by President-elect Donald Trump. It’s futile to try second guess some of his tactics, and outbursts. So, it’s hard to fathom what exactly he had in mind when he purportedly lavishly praised the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan and Pakistanis, in a phone conversation the two had.
...
>Here’s the text of conversation between Trump and Sharif, according to Pakistan’s PIB:

>‘Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called President-elect USA Donald Trump and felicitated him on his victory. President Trump said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif you have a very good reputation. You are a terrific guy. You are doing amazing work which is visible in every way. I am looking forward to see you soon. As I am talking to you Prime Minister, I feel I am talking to a person I have known for long. Your country is amazing with tremendous opportunities. Pakistanis are one of the most intelligent people. I am ready and willing to play any role that you want me to play to address and find solutions to the outstanding problems. It will be an honor and I will personally do it. Feel free to call me any time even before 20th January that is before I assume my office.

>On being invited to visit Pakistan by the Prime Minister, Mr. Trump said that he would love to come to a fantastic country, fantastic place of fantastic people. Please convey to the Pakistani people that they are amazing and all Pakistanis I have known are exceptional people, said Mr. Donald Trump.’

>Now, one thing is for sure, before one could even try and analyze some of the rather strange words uttered by Trump, as per Pakistan’s PIB. If there were to be a list of countries to be ranked on the basis of trustworthiness of their PIB, its likely Pakistan and China would be hot contenders for the last spot on that list.

>The human brain's capacity for imagination is boundless. But machine intelligence still struggles to form images, ideas, and sensations without direct input.

>Researchers from MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), however, led by PhD student Carl Vondrick, has developed a deep-learning algorithm that creates short videos to simulate the future of a still image, like a beach with crashing waves or golfers walking along the grass.

>"These videos show us what computers think can happen in a scene," Vondrick said in a statement. "If you can predict the future, you must have understood something about the present."

>Vondrick worked with MIT professor Antonio Torralba and University of Maryland Baltimore County professor Hamed Pirsiavash on the project. They are not the first to tackle this topic, but their model does pioneer new techniques—like processing an entire scene at once.

>"Building up a scene frame-by-frame is like a big game of 'Telephone,' which means that the message falls apart by the time you go around the whole room," Vondrick said. "By instead trying to predict all frames simultaneously, it's as if you're talking to everyone in the room at once."

North Korea warned the U.S. to end its "ever-worsening hostile moves and increasing nuclear threat against" Pyongyang. In a memorandum issued Monday by North Korea's foreign affairs ministry, the isolated state listed what it called "the criminal acts of the U.S."

The lengthy memorandum is reportedly being seen by many experts as a direct message to President-elect Donald Trump.

"The anachronistic hostile policy and nuclear threat that the U.S. has enforced with unprecedented recklessness against the DPRK have only provoked its just and righteous countermeasures for self-defense," the memorandum reads, as published by the state-run Korean Central News Agency.

It also claimed that outgoing President Barack Obama’s administration went out of its way in its attempt to “overthrow” Kim Jong Un and the country. Obama was also accused of “constantly heaping malicious slander and criticism on the DPRK” and said his government pursued an "aggressive and heinous ‘strategic suffocation’ policy."

"The U.S. has gone so far as to breach the basic principles of international laws and ditch its dignity of a superpower by pleading with other countries to join their pressure racket against the DPRK through downgrading or severing ties with it," the memo reads.

North Korea has threatened the U.S. on several occasions for the sanctions on Pyongyang following the isolated state's nuclear tests.

After Trump's surprise election victory earlier this month, North Korea warned it would not disarm.

Trump said during his campaign he was open to speaking with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un directly. The business mogul also made remarks about North Korea’s nuclear program and described Kim as a “maniac.” He also suggested that China could "make that guy disappear."

“We can’t play games with him,” Trump said in January while visiting Iowa. “Because he really does have missiles. And he really does have nukes.”

However, Trump emphasized in his victory speech Nov. 9 he was willing to work with any country open to working with the U.S.

>N. Korea-China trade on steady rise despite sanctions

SHANGHAI, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) -- Trade between North Korea and China increased for the third straight month in a row last month, inviting doubts over whether China is effectively taking part in the international community's economic sanctions' on its traditional ally, Chinese trade data showed Friday.

According to monthly data released by China's General Administration of Customs, the two communist countries traded goods worth US$525.24 million in October, up 21.1 percent from $433.73 million a year ago.

In the figure, China exported $286.86 million worth of goods to the North, up 16.1 percent on-year, and imported $238.38 million worth from the North, up 27.6 percent from a year before, the data said.

The monthly increase marked the third in a row since August, when the bilateral trade marked a 29.9 percent rise on-year in sharp comparison with a 9.1 percent drop in April following the U.N. Resolution 2270 adopted in March against the North's nuclear test in January. The figure also posted an 8.1 percent decline in May and a 15.7 percent decrease in July, except for a 9.4 percent hike in June.

In particular, China's exports of construction materials and vehicles have been noticeably on the rise, which apparently has something to do with ongoing bilateral infrastructure construction projects in their border areas.

>China's October coal imports from North Korea up on month after falling in September

China's coal imports from North Korea rose in October after falling more than a quarter in September from the previous month amid a push from the United States to punish North Korea for its recent nuclear test.

Coal imports from North Korea climbed 1.22 percent in October to 1.82 million tonnes compared with September, data from China's General Administration of Customs showed on Friday.

North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on Sept. 9, and said it had mastered the ability to mount a warhead on a ballistic missile.
China expressed anger with North Korea for the test, its largest to date. China's coal imports from North Korea fell to 1.798 million tonnes that month from 2.465 million tonnes in August.

Earlier in the year, China said it would comply with U.N. sanctions and ban coal imports from North Korea following Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test in January, although Beijing has made exemptions based on "livelihood purposes".

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang told a daily news briefing after the figures were released that it was not the statistics people should be paying attention to, but whether the coal trade was legal.

"China has consistently fully and conscientiously carried out the U.N. Security Council's resolutions on sanctions on North Korea," Geng said.

Products like coal with a civilian purpose that do not benefit the nuclear and missile programs do not fall under the sanctions mandate and Chinese imports accord with those rules, he added.

"We uphold that the U.N. sanctions on North Korea should not have a negative impact upon livelihoods in North Korea or humanitarian needs," Geng said.

A senior prosecutor in Germany has confirmed to a South Korean media outlet that German prosecutors have been investigating Choi Soon-sil and her daughter over money laundering allegations against a company in Schmitten.

The cable broadcaster JTBC on Thursday aired an interview with Helmut Fünfsinn, the prosecutor-general of German state of Hesse, in which he said that the controversial friend of the South Korean president played a significant role regarding the alleged illegality.

The prosecutor also noted that a few people, including Choi and her daughter Chung Yoo-ra, are being investigated.

Fünfsinn, however, declined to comment on whether the German prosecution has questioned Chung, who is known to be staying in Germany, or whether it is tracing the financial accounts of the suspects.

Last month, the prosecution in Hesse said it was investigating four people regarding the money laundering allegation, and three of them are South Koreans.

Schmitten, a town near Frankfurt with a population of nine-thousand, is where Choi established The Blue K and Widec Sports allegedly with the aim of embezzling funds from the Seoul-based Mir and K-Sports foundations. Choi stayed in the area before returning to South Korea to be investigated in the current influence-peddling scandal.

When will Choi’s daughter return?
http://m.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20161201000727

As an independent counsel is set to take over the investigation into the spiraling scandal involving President Park Geun-hye and her confidante Choi Soon sil, eyes are on when Choi’s daughter Chung Yoo-ra will return to Korea.

Chung, a 19-year-old dressage rider, is involved in the scandal, but has not been brought in for questioning yet.

Chung is said to be in Germany, on leave of absence from Ewha Womans University. Her mother, who stayed there with Chung, returned to Korea last month and is now under arrest.

The Ministry of Education confirmed through a special inspection that she was illegally accepted into the university and was given overly generous marks without attending classes or turning in assignments at Ewha, due to her mother’s status.

Choi, who holds no government post, is suspected of meddling in state affairs, extorting donations from conglomerates and getting her daughter accepted into the prestigious university through her ties to the embattled president. It is also suspected that Samsung Group, a corporate sponsor of Chung, received business favors from the government in return for generous support of Chung.

“As we are investigating the Ewha case, Chung Yoo-ra will be questioned at some point,” said an official from the prosecution, without specifying an exact date.

A special committee for the parliamentary inquiry summoned Choi and Chung as witnesses for questioning at the second hearing to be held on Dec. 7 at the National Assembly in Seoul.
>>
>>89110
But it remains to be seen whether she will accept the call, as her lawyer Lee Kyung-jae, who is also representing Choi, said Wednesday that Chung would only return to Korea when the prosecution formally calls her in for questioning.

The prosecution has brought in several ranking officials from the university, including the university’s former President Choi Kyung-hee and admissions chief Namgung Kon, on charges of obstructing business. It raided the school on Nov. 22.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education said Thursday it would suspend financial support for Ewha Womans University for its irregularities surrounding the admissions process.

The ministry has provided select universities with state budget funds to help improve their university admission systems.

Ewha, which won the project for three straight years dating to 2014, received about 700 million won ($598,000) this year. The money will be withdrawn and the school will be excluded from the financial aid next year.

Ewha Womans University had already won eight of nine state-funded projects, which critics say could be a result of the school giving special favors to Chung. But the Education Ministry’s inspection could not confirm the links.

The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center Alexander Okhrimenko shared the latest data on the payment of tariffs for housing and heating services: "it makes a new record: for the month of October, almost half payers - 46 percent - refuse to pay. At present, the total amount of public debt on the housing and utilities rates - 17 billion hryvnia. A year ago it was 11 billion. (before the maidanek coup it was in the plus) I draw your attention that it is only in October, when the bills came. Most of the debt for is about gas heating. Since September less than half of people stopped to pay the bills. 64 % of people do not pay for hot water at all. With the heating situation is better, because the payment system is less expensive "- said the economist.

That is not that big of a suprise. The peoples salaries are going down by the month. Paying all this stuff is not really easy. A lot off people there need to pay rent in euro. So with the hryvnia going down it's no way to manage.

>PC players can destroy Xbox One players in Gears of War 4 this weekend

>For years now, gamers have argued that letting PC and console players face each other in first-person shooters would result in a ridiculously unbalanced playing field—that the superior precision and quickness of mouse aiming would utterly dominate the competition using slower, touchier analog sticks, all things being equal. This weekend, Microsoft is rolling out a public crossplay test for Gears of War 4 that could help settle that argument once and for all.

>Community Manager OctusTC posted in the Gears of War forums yesterday that cross-platform play would be open between Friday, December 2 and Monday, December 5. The event is being referred to as a "special test weekend... conducted to evaluate the potential of a more permanent crossplay solution in the future to allow Windows 10 and Xbox One gamers to play together in Versus outside of Private Matches" (cross-platform play is already allowed in public co-operative matches).

>"Crossplay is divisive in any Versus experience, and Gears of War 4 is no different," OctusTC continues. "From the beginning, we stated our intention to keep both platforms separate in non-cooperative game modes in order to preserve competitive balance. Conserving a fair, competitive environment remains a top priority for us."

>This will not be the first time in the debate between handheld controllers and the PC's keyboard and mouse that they have been directly tested in the real world of FPS competition. Back in 2014, an Xbox One-based Titanfall team decided to use their trusty controllers to take on some keyboard-and-mouse PC players in a high-level tournament. That attempt led to a vociferous debate over the use of aim assist to help correct for the imprecision of a controller's analog stick. Some see that game-provided assistance as a necessary tool to balance out the disadvantages of the analog stick, while others see it as an unfair advantage for controller users that cripples mouse-based players. For what it's worth, Gears of War 4 lead multiplayer designer Ryan Clevin told IGN in August that his team "definitely work[s] from the controller out... We do play [with] mouse and keyboard, but the core of the game is around a controller.”

>This isn't even the first time Microsoft has considered the question of pitting PC and console players against each other in an FPS. In 2010, Voodoo PC President Rahul Sood publicly discussed rumors that Microsoft had internally tested a bridge between Xbox and PC players. The result, according to Sood, was that "the console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the Xbox team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative."

>In a response to that report, Microsoft Senior Director of PC and Mobile Gaming Kevin Unangst told PC World that Sood's comments were "not an accurate generalization" about Microsoft's efforts. "Game design choices can balance or tip the scales, much in the same way that a PC game can be built to use a gamepad or keyboard and mouse, and can implement either or both well or poorly," he said. "It's the developer's job to find the right balance."

SEOUL, South Korea — A popular South Korean singer, Lee Seung-chul, recently posted on Twitter what he called a sad joke that reflected public outrage over a scandal involving the country’s president, Park Geun-hye.

“If Hillary is elected, the United States will have its first female president. If Trump is elected, it will have its first crazy president,” went the joke, which was widely shared online. “South Korea got both in 2012.”

Ms. Park’s 2012 victory was hailed as a milestone for South Korea’s deeply patriarchal society. But four years later, pressure is mounting across the country and even from within her party for Ms. Park to step down or face impeachment. This week, she became South Korea’s first sitting president to be accused by prosecutors of a criminal conspiracy.

The scandal surrounding Ms. Park has left many South Korean women infuriated with the president and fearful that it could be used to argue that women are unfit to lead. They worry that the country, already among the lowest in global gender-equality rankings, could become even more resistant to elevating women to positions of power.

“We have had more than our share of outrageous male politicians,” said Kim Yun-jeong, 22, who had a placard that said “Park Geun-hye, OUT!” at a recent demonstration in Seoul, the capital. “But I feel men now saying, behind our back and with a smirk on their faces: ‘See! This is what we get when we have a woman president for a change.’”

Ms. Park’s troubles stem from her decades of ties to Choi Soon-sil, a daughter of Choi Tae-min, the founder of a fringe religious sect who befriended Ms. Park in the 1970s. Ms. Choi was indicted Sunday on charges of using her influence with Ms. Park to extort millions from businesses. Prosecutors said Ms. Park was an accomplice of Ms. Choi, but she is protected by the Constitution from criminal indictment.

Ms. Park has agreed to submit to an inquiry. But on Tuesday, her lawyer, Yoo Yeong-ha, tried to use Ms. Park’s gender as a shield, saying that she was “a woman before being president” and that her “privacy as a woman” should be protected from prosecutors who sought to question her.

Women’s groups were having none of it.

“They are not investigating her privacy as a woman but her acts of destroying constitutional order as president,” a group of women’s advocacy organizations said in a joint statement. (Mr. Yoo declined to elaborate on what Ms. Park’s privacy had to do with the investigation.)

South Korea’s women have been just as loud as its men in denouncing Ms. Park. Recent polls have found her to be deeply unpopular among both men and women.

And in the huge protests that have filled central Seoul over the past four weekends, women have often led peaceful marches — an unusual sight in South Korea, where anti-government demonstrations often feature men clashing with riot police officers.

During a Nov. 12 rally that attracted one million people by some estimates, a student from the Sacred Heart Girls’ High School in Seoul, Ms. Park’s alma mater, took the podium. “You have become an object of shame for us,” the student said of Ms. Park, prompting wild cheers from the crowd. “We can no longer tolerate you representing our nation.”

Although Ms. Park is often called South Korea’s first female president, that label fails to capture the complicated ways in which people here regard her presidency.

Ms. Park has never been considered a champion of women’s rights, either as the president or as a legislator before that. According to Kim Young-soon, a leader at the Korean Women’s Associations United, gender inequality has actually worsened under Ms. Park, with sex crimes on the rise and a growing wealth gap taking a harder toll on women.
Her presidential campaign was aimed at securing the support of older conservatives who still revered her father, the military dictator Park Chung-hee, for leading the country out of poverty in the 1960s and ’70s. Many saw in Ms. Park a modern version of her charismatic father.

South Koreans like to say that they see Ms. Park not as a female president but as Park Chung-hee’s daughter. That places her in a peculiar and precarious position in South Korea, where patriarchy rules the political and corporate worlds.

A widely shared Twitter post last year summed up the challenges Ms. Park has faced in the shadow of her father’s legacy and with the cultural misgivings over female leaders: “When President Park Geun-hye does well, she wears the clothes of Park Chung-hee. But when she does badly, she becomes a woman.”

So far, Ms. Park’s gender has not been an outright issue in the scandal, but it has colored the outrage. Older conservative men who have turned against Ms. Park since the scandal often disdainfully refer to her as an “unfilial daughter.”

Online, men have attacked Ms. Park and Ms. Choi by invoking an old Korean diatribe against assertive women: “If a hen crows, the household collapses.” (When a man used that phrase at a recent protest, it set off both cheers and boos from the crowd.)

In the local news media, photographs have emerged that show urinals painted with images of Ms. Park and Ms. Choi. People have derided Ms. Choi, who has no background in government or policy making, as an “ajumma,” or homemaker, “from Gangnam,” a Seoul district often associated with affluence and moral weakness.

“President Park is taken as evidence that women are not qualified for politics,” a feminist group said last week, protesting what it called gender prejudices tainting the campaign against Ms. Park.

Samsung's explosion woes seem to continue as the company has had to recall nearly three million top-loading washing machines in the US due to fears of explosion. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which is working with the company to facilitate the recall, said Samsung has received 733 reports of washing machines "experiencing excessive vibration or the top detaching from the washing machine chassis".

"Before you do another load of laundry, contact Samsung and respond to this recall," CPSC Chairman Elliot Kaye told the Wall Street Journal. "These top loading washers present a risk of injury when used on a high-speed spin cycle...The best way to prevent injury is for everyone who might have a recalled washing machine to contact Samsung—immediately."

Before, it was their beloved, adored, adorned and admired Jimmy Savile.

Michael Holden, Thomson Reuters writes:

*Savile used his fame to gain access to children

In fact, it was negligent parents who failed to protect their children from rapists.

While the blame for raping (assaulting) children is on the rapists, the blame for not doing something, anything, before they were raped is on everyone who does not stand up and speak out about rape and especially about ped-rapists (pedophiles, guys and gals who usually assault children).

If all the blame is entirely the rapist, then all we can do is wait and hope the seek help for their inability to understand "no" or to understand what is and what is not perversion, disease, sickness.

Worry about those who don't speak out about rape: they are rapists, in denial, or they've never been raped and yet still they are ungrateful and emotional wrecks unable to be thankful for the gift of a rape-free childhood.

You are just the worst at influencing with your writing. It's whiny and unappealing. You're wrong, not because pedos shouldn't be murdered, but because you lather your anger in fear-mongering conservatism.
>tl;dr All your threads are shit.

That being said: quote more articles.
Don't just throw out your own view, do that in a reply. Get a few sources and use some quotes in your post, THEN I can consider giving a shit.
Noob.
