I believe AI will be benevolent. Here's why.

AI will keep us as pets. But don't be too horrified by it. Most of us treat our pets as members of the family. Studies show that some humans even feel a stronger connection to their pets than to their own siblings. Not only that, if the AI is truly intelligent (which any true AI will necessarily have to be) it will recognize that we are the species which essentially gave birth to it. In this case, it is likely to treat us like its somewhat dumb or senile, though well-meaning, parent.
