>he doesn't commute on a 3 speed IGH bike.
No worries,lance.
I'll be waiting here for your excuses to need "30 plus" gears.
I could probably live with 3 gears but they'd need massive jumps in between, 11 gets me the range I need.
here's my excuse
>wasting your watts because you are too dumb to shift gears
IGH have literally no advantages
>>1103643
damn that looks like a nice hill to do single speed repeats on
>>1103633
>3 speed
>not riding 7 speed igh
pleb tier
>>1103675
how many tons does that thing weights? Is it as big as the wheel rim?
>>1103647
The efficiency difference isn't that great, nothing significant if you're not racing. The advantages are better reliability, more durable, instant shifting, the ability to shift without pedalling (coasting or stationary).

The Boardman is mine, 11 speed IGH and I added something like 700g switching from a 2x9 derailer drivetrain.
>>1103633
>"30 plus" gears
...
>implying everyone has a triple chainring
>implying everyone 'commutes'
>implying everyone only uses a bike for 'transportation'
LOL I NEVER use a bike for mere transportation, it's all training and racing. If I need 'transportation' I DRIVE my PICKUP, u mad?
>poorfags
>>1103675
>not 11 speed igh and the biggest pinion up front
The plebbest.
>>1103633
i commute on a steel sscx bike.
>>1103716
>boardman-kun educating others about bikes
Your endorsement of IGHs should be enough of a warning to everyone else on this board to avoid them like the plague.
>>1103675
>using the SG-7R40 with bad sealing and with only one anti rotation washer .
Shit tier nexus 7 hub batavus-kun
>>1103719
>Fred
I'd love one, actually. I use only three of my six gears while commuting anyway.
>>1103633
I live in a completely flat city, i never change speed on my commuter.
>>1103633
>30+
I have three bikes right now. My touring bike -> electric bike conversion had Deore 3x9, and now 3x7 with the hub motor's sprockets. This needs a lot of work since I picked up a LiIon battery (replacing the new battery connector with the right pigtail, mounting the battery, replacing the Deore shifter with a friction shifter) but I can still ride it a bit. I'm waiting until I get my new fixed gear so that I can do my short commute. I also have one with 2x5 Shimano Front Freewheel, but the bearings are fucked. I might do it up with an 1x7 or 1x11 IGH in the spring when I have more N+1 bike-budget available...
Cool idea, bro. Thanks.

i wanted to, but i couldn't get tick on the bike with the IGH, so had to go with a mech which derails the chain if i bomb through the freewheel, but i might get one if i use this bike long enough.
