Do you use gloves when riding a bicycle?
>>1101329
Only when it is cold enough outside.
>>1101329
Only when I'm gay.
Every time, the real faggy fingerless kind.
Truth be told, I do it because I think they're fucking cool, but it comes in real handy for wiping snot away, for keeping my hands clean if I need to fiddle with something, and in the ever-so-rare chance of falling, I won't have skinned palms which are fucking horrible.
>>1101333
Me too!
Fingerless gloves for the 9 months of summer we have in AZ. I swear it makes a ride more comfortable, and what >>1101336 said
>>1101329
Yes. The daystar is my nemesis, not my friend.
>>1101332
This, although pogies are far superior to gloves when it gets really cold.
In warm weather, gloves seem to do nothing but make my hands sweaty, I can't stand them.
>>1101346
Gloves make you go faster
>>1101329
Fingerless gloves from 2006, still used on the daily from Wilson's Leather before they sold themselves. Never been washed, they're so salt logged they keep their shape when removed. Wilson's Leather had some quality stuff
>>1101336
>I think they're fucking cool
>I won't have skinned palms
this, leather gloves saved my palms plenty times. it's apparent on my left hand >>1101349
no, pros general don't either unless they're racing or it's cold. I don't fall on my hands though, and that isn't easy to train.
Only when I ride my bike with uncomfortable handlebars.
>>1101333
So, always?
Yes, because my hands sweat a lot and slip around if I don't.
>>1101336
Sometimes I blow so much snot that I need to switch gloves midride.
>>1101361
Going from cold to warm, whether leaving a building or just building up a sweat, makes me run like a fucking spigot
>>1101368
When your snot warms up, like most gels, it flows better.
When it's cold enough to tingle my fingers. When it's good out, gloves just make your awful tan even worse.
Only when it's cold or when I'm racing.
>>1101329
No, because my grips are rather comfy and my hands don't really slip. I've considered it, but biking apparel is really gay, and I don't have the performance capabilities or the bike to warrant it. If I fall, I'll just deal with the skinned palms.
>>1101329
I tried gloves once. I hated the feeling. So I havent since.
>>1101405
>>i tried wearing a watch once hated the feeling and havent since
>>i tried wearing a tie once hated the feeling and havent since
>>i tried wearing tied shoes once hated the feeling and havent since
>>i tried wearing a jacket once hated the feeling and havent since
>>i tried eating something other than kraft macncheese once hated the feeling and havent since
>wat is adjustment period
>>1101329
Yes, in 99.9% of cases. I skinned my palms once, it wasn't fun.
Gets cold here. There exist really cheap knit cotton gloves, usually sold in packs of 20 or 24. Can go in washing machine and dryer. My skin is sensitive to dirty stuff, so I use them as a liner to my mittens which are a pain to clean. Also good for work and stuff.
Once dug thru a bucket of rusted, moldy stems at bike co op. Used the cotton gloves. They were torn and nasty when I finally found my $5 treasure. I threw the gloves out. Make that $5.50.
Also helps avoid touching the parts of public transit which are a little too sticky for comfort. Probably have saved me a few colds.
useful stuff episode one
>>1101354
I also had a hard time learning not to fall on my hands
>>1101329
I used them when I rode bmx and mtb, and im getting a pair for use on my fixie now too.
Hands go numb in the mornings, so that fucking sucks, and im starting to get blisters so the gloves might help
>>1101329
I'm used to be using gloves so much that I can't ride without them.
And no, I don't care about the tanlines.
yup
>>1101329
those are actually the exact gloves I have haha. I mostly just wear them in the cold and if its really cold I wear different gloves. Good gloves for the price though.
Fingerless glove meter off the charts ITT.
Only when I race or it's cold.
Cycling over an hour? Glove up!
Cycling over bumpy/rocky roads? Glove up!
Cold? Glove up!
Risk of falling? Glove up!
Sweating a lot? Glove up!
Bar tape with poor traction? Glove up!
Raining? Glove up!
You get the point.
>>1101502
Never had problems, I'm a dirty shitbag in regards to hygiene and sweat logged clothes too...
I have used them since BMX, so I end up feeling naked if I omit them from my rides.
I have used the same Pearl Izumi fingerless fags for the last 5 years and they're still going strong!!
I started wearing them for grip - anything I touch gets wet. I also wear nitrile gloves when working on anything that requires my hands for more then 20 mins.
Even when typing for long periods, I use copper-infused compression gloves.
>>1101354
train to not fall imo
>>1101497
I hope you pop wheelies every time your wear them
Commuting, generally no. Riding to ride, generally yes.
>>1101600
bet'cher ass i do
>>1101417
I have gone down 4 times in 10 years. First time kept my hand off my dick for 6 weeks. Went down shortly after that on my way to buy gloves and cut my hands up. Bought gloves that day and have not used my hands in a fall in 9 years.
I wear them so I can touch my dick at night.
>>1101626
You should have gotten an onahole, dude.
>>1101497
Oy mate
>>1101600
Every time on a bike i try to , my gloves are a good reminder
>>1101354
Yeah, falling on your head is a basic technique required for riding :^)
Only some skinny weak boned faggot would rather not fall in their hands, because you weak faggots know you will break those princess arms. Every time i fell i made sure i was going to land in my hands like i was doing a pushup. Being able to bench 150kgs my arms cant take a lot of punishment.
I once was ran over by a car and landed like that, my arms absorbed the whole impact and my thick gloves were completely torn apart and i only hit my calf in the road didnt even scratch it. A weak skeleton like you fags trying to "roll with it" would have gotten all fucked up or even died.
TLDR gloves are for strong badass dudes, only weak homos dont use them.
>>1104007
You should still roll on an arm, but the arm is curved not locked and your palm should be facing in. Breaking your wrists is a bigger issue falling on your hands than skinning them. The branch breaks the leaf bends.
What are you going to do when you have to jump from a moving car? Your hands won't save you then.
Recently bought those pictured to replace my old Endura Full Monty summer gloves which are quite worn.
only if it's cold, and there's only three or for days where its actually cold enough to justify it in Australia
I don't really like how they feel
>>1105146
yeah i hate feeling comfortable as well
Always while mountain biking, never road cycling.
Always for mountain biking
It's not really to protect your hands if they fall, gloves usually help a little with that but your hands will be pretty tough anyway if you've been biking seriously for years... It's just that if your hands are sweaty your grip will go to absolute shit and make proper riding impossible, and also if it's cold the blood will go out of your fingers and again your grip will go to absolute shit. I suppose if you lived somewhere where the temperature is exactly correct to not get sweaty or be too cold you could go without them.
Sure, if it's below 40 I always wear gloves
>>1105192
fucking australians
>>1105207
But I'm amerilard ;_;
