Reminder that:
Chicago "L" > Poo York Subgay

HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
>>1091435
Depends, lines like the Brown is worlds above any NYC line but lines like the Red, I would say is on par if not worse.
Never been to the States but L looks pretty stylish.
>>1091435
Both are objective proof that americuhns can't into public transport even when they're trying their best.
>>1091478
>worlds above
>still has grade crossings
Scope and size it is much smaller but for 125 years old they've kept the system up to date.
>>1095019
This looks like a giant fucking trainwreck waiting to happen
They say tower 18 (both pictures but different angles) is the busiest junction in the world
I'm trying to move to Chicago next year and I cannot wait to scrap my car. They seem better than the NYC subways (underground subways are great in theory, but then they smell horrible and get dirty quickly, unless you're an Asian country).

The brown line is packed as fuck both morning and evening rush hours. It also has the oldest trains cars on the line (along with orange pink and blue )
Red Line and Purple line have the newest and nicest cars
Junction 18 has to deal with trains in all 4 directions going all 4 different places.
>>1099096
>Red Line and Purple line have the newest and nicest cars
but the worst kind of people
>>1099110
True. I take the brown/purple line north in the AM for work. its nice because the train is nearly deserted (because im not heading inbound)
same with the PM ride home, everyone is jam packed on the Brown/Purple heading outbound while the inbound is totally empty. Then I get on the orange line and it all falls apart.
I would argue the Green line and blue line have some pretty awful people though
>>1091435
and to think they wanted to make the L a subway in the 70s and remove the above-grade line

OFFICAL CHICAGO CTA LINE RANKINGS
from safest to shadiest
Yellow
Purple
Brown
Red
Pink
Orange
Blue
Green
>>1091435
The lines can't be properly ranked without specifying which end you're referring to. The Blue line north to O'Hare isn't bad, it's the blue line south you're talking about.
>>1094784
Just don't look too hard. Then you won't see the corrosion.
Someone commited sudoku on the tracks this morning, good job chicago
>>1091478
Thr brown line is crowded and slow as fuck, you literally picked the worst line.
>>1100327
>blue shadier than red, orange or pink
Found the delusional suburbanite
>>1100438
blue is a 24hr line lad, you get some bad folks at 2am
>>1100440
So is the red you retard. And we should be comparing them at the same time of day regardless.
>>1100425
You should take a leaf out of Britain's train system. We boast a remarkably low level of train suicides.
Our secret? Our trains are so unreliable and awful that you can't even kill yourself reliably.
>>1100330
cool pic
thanks anon!
>shitty obsolete system vs shitty obsolete system.
wow, such pride! It's like when toronto streetcars were named by system in NA.
>>1091435
L has a huge novelty because you are able to ride past skyscrapers in the densest part of the urban core on a train. Can't do that on any NYC subway.
>>1100865
are you retarded?
Take the fucking Q train until the end station
>>1100653
No one cares you leaf
>>1091435
They're both shit, retard.
>>1100910
>Leaf.
If i was a leaf i wouldn't have posted this. You guys are playing dick contests all over NA when even a small town of less than a million peoples anywhere else can get as much ridership as the L
>>1099110
if you are going to be racist and NOT mention the green line you are pleb tier
>>1100951
This. the green line runs through some of the worst areas of the city
fun fact, from th 1950s to the early 90s the red line used to go where the south branch of the green line goes now (howard to cottage grove) talk about a clash of income levels
But isn't it awfully noisy?
Think about having a busy train track litterally right outside your window
>>1100953
Theres a few places near the tracks where the windows are literally INCHES from the tracks, if you stuck you hand out the window it would be gone. I'd imagine its an awful place to livr
>>1099120
The blue line is quite awful. I took it to school in hs and the cars always stank of piss. The brown line is nice though
>>1100437
Yeah but the view is nice and it is usually ridden by quiet commuters
>>1100441
I've been harassed more on the blue line than the red line. The only shady people on the red line are the people selling cigarettes and weed, and they are way better than the violent homeless people on the blue line
>>1101065
the best scam story i heard was when two older people came up to me one had an arm in a cast. I was outside the orange line station waiting for a bus.
they came up to me and said they came from UIC med center and got off at the wrong stop and needed fare to get back on the go to the right place.
heres the background: UIC med center is off the pink line (polk). for them to go to where I was, they wouldve have to taken the wrong train SIX stops to the loop (clark lake) and THEN gotten on the wrong train AGAIN to get on the orange line (halsted). and then they wouldve had to EXIT the station (the orange line has unidirectional stations, aka island platforms, so you can hop off one direction and get on the other direction free) just to find me and ask for fare money.
this may not make sense to people not in chicago but for those who are, its an awful scam story lol
>>1101066
>we put poor people in it so its ok
>>1100947
No one cares you cunt
>>1091435
I've ridden both and personally enjoyed the L more. It's above ground, less claustrophobic, you have data connection, and the views are more pleasant. However it is extremely loud when it picks up speed, whereas a subway's noise is deafened by being underground.
New York subway is nothing of the positives mentioned above, but it's vastly more integrated into the city than the L is making it more reliable.
