What is the point of this skymobile?

I'd hate to imagine if that plane split in two while in the air.
I picked up this bike about a week ago It's a vintage Rockhopper series from Specialized, I think from the late 90's.
Sat in a garage for probably close to two decades until the owner finally decided to get rid of it, so it's in great condition.
I bought an older bike because I wanted to cut my teeth on something simple and cheap. I plan on using it for generally getting around, but also to beat up on the trails. What are the opinions on an older bike like this with less aggressive geometry for having some fun on the trails? I'd like to get better at bhops and general technical navigation. I"m not expecting it to blow my mind on the technical stuff, but can it hack it?
>>1077287
Early 2000s.
In terms of the trail, this bike is fully capable, and added suspension fork will give a more comfy ride on moderate trails.
Jumping on hi-ten steel frames is how you get good at preforming jumps to begin with. If you can flat hop a steel bike, anything lighter will be like a feather.
Practice bouldering on the bike, to get use to very steep climbs. If you slow down at a steep climb on these, you'll fall sideways. Momentum is the key.
Upgrades should be easy, most are going for all the ratios in the back, but I like having gearing in the front - it allows for a quick drop-down of the ratios so if you need to kick it, dropping it down is super quick.
Also how much did you pay?
What is the Glock 19 of bikes?
>entry level price
>nothing fussy with a bunch of bells and whistles
>enough of what the average person will need out of a bicycle
>durable and reliable

New here? 90s mtb w/ slicks.

90s mtb is the Mosin nagant

It's both then, since it fits your Glock description accurately.

No.
So uh what are you going to do with your old car now?
That's some high level delusion.
>>1074905
It's not delusion, it's clickbait. Outrageous claim is cheap way to inflame interest. Don't click, don't read, don't do anything but block as much as you can.

does anyone have that cockpit image of the guy who inverted the old scott drop bars for his touring bike? I think he had rholoffs on the top. Can't find the image but it was fucking genius.
Pic related, those stupid old drops with the secondary flat section.
How do people lock their bikes when they have quick releases on both wheels? 2 locks, or taking the front wheel off and locking together with the back wheel?
>>1074915
We don't leave their bike outside with the plebs. Take it inside, where valuables belong. Other than that, you always lock the rear wheel together with the frame no matter what type of wheel fixings you have.
>The Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway was a unique coastline railway in Brighton, England that ran through the shallow coastal waters of the English Channel between 1896 and 1901
>The railway itself consisted of two parallel 2 ft 8 1⁄2 in (825 mm) gauge tracks, billed as 18 ft (5.5 m) gauge, the measurement between the outermost rails.[2] The tracks were laid on concrete sleepers mortised into the bedrock. The single car used on the railway was a 45 by 22 ft (13.7 by 6.7 m) pier-like building which stood on four 23 ft (7.0 m)-long legs. The car weighed 45 long tons (50 short tons; 46 t). Propulsion was by electric motor. It was officially named Pioneer, but many called it Daddy Long-Legs. Due to regulations then in place, a qualified sea captain was on board at all times, and the car was provided with lifeboats and other safety measures.
I am angry. Angry about trains. And I want answers.
I live in a town in rural Oregon, and I am currently typing this at 3:01 AM. Go ahead, ask me why I'm up at 3:01 AM.
>Why are you up at 3:01 AM, OP?
Well /n/, I'll tell you why. Every night, and I mean every goddamn night, your train conducting faggot friends roll through my town at precisely 2:45, and they LAY ON THE FUCKING HORN. For the life of me, I can't tell why they do this. I'm assuming it has to do with not wanting to turn the occasional drunk indian asleep on the tracks into a fine red mist, but let's face it, Geronimo picked the BNSF to be his bed for that evening, he drank too much fire water to be awoken by any decibel level anyway, and the Great Spirit picked him to repaint the front car. Run over a whole tribe of ugly natives, just don't wake me up.
You know, in a way it's nice because I know that whether you're black or white, rich or poor, male or trainsexual genderfluid pterodactyl, you're going to get woken up by the Gay Nigger Express if you live here. It brings the community together and we can all wake up and watch Dr. Phil reruns and talk about them at the water cooler at lunch when we're all tired as shit the next day. Mind you, I live nowhere near the fucking train tracks so I can only imagine how much life sucks for the people that do. If I went nuts and started murdering train engineers, I would claim temporary insanity due to sleep deprivation and get off scot-free.

2/2
I'm not saying make stealth trains, but blasting the horn every .3 seconds through a town at night is an asshole move. If I did that with my car, people would call me a sociopath. We have the little thingies that flash lights and block the road at crossings, if you don''t hear or see that shit, you're Helen Fucking Keller. I imagine all conductors are autistic toddlers and I seriously hope they all die in horrible accidents.
BTW, how do so many people get hit by trains each year? I looked up the stats and it's baffling. Step sideways, you idiots. Don't park on the tracks if you need to have a car fap. It's that simple.
tl;dr, OP gets assblasted and rants about loud trains at night.
I wish a train ran through my town
>For the life of me, I can't tell why they do this.
Because 49 CFR Part 222 Subpart B § 222.21
>(a) Except as provided in this part, the locomotive horn on the lead locomotive of a train, lite locomotive consist, individual locomotive or lead cab car shall be sounded when such locomotive or lead cab car is approaching a public highway-rail grade crossing. Sounding of the locomotive horn with two long blasts, one short blast and one long blast shall be initiated at a location so as to be in accordance with paragraph (b) of this section and shall be repeated or prolonged until the locomotive occupies the crossing. This pattern may be varied as necessary where crossings are spaced closely together.
If this bothers you consider speaking with the Federal Railroad Administration and your local authorities about setting up a locomotive whistle quiet zone.

Good job, shill.
LA Metro should expand the Red Line to Warner Center as an elevated subway like they have in the Bay Area,Chicago and New York. I think this could greatly expand ridership and increase the efficiency of the system as a whole.
bump
>>1072331
There has been some talk of converting the Orange line to rail, but not sure when/if that would happen. I'm personally looking forward to the purple line extension, and hoping they expand the red line south through Vermont to connect the purple and expo lines. I think there would be a lot of people who would benefit from any of the lines expanding though.
>>1072331
Nope. Orange line will be converted to light rail eventually.
>>1073759
Getting rail from the Orange line (hopefully converted to light rail by then) at Oxford/Van Nuys over the Sepulveda Pass and down to LAX should be the highest priority (black line in pic).
Are drop ends a meme?
Yes
Stem on flat bar bikes is optimized for flat bar reach. Hood position on drop ends is just too far out, which is exaggerated even further from the bars being so wide. Maybe if you had a 120 mm stem and reduced it to 60 mm it might work.
>>1071410
no, but they're not quite as similar to actual drop bars as most people think. I had some on my bike for a while before transitioning to full drops.
>>1071425
>he got tricked by the dropbar jews
What is this a race? Fucky half-assed "solutions" are good enough for you. I know because I know what's best for everyone.
So I spent about 2 hours doodling this 2 seat light sport airplane in mspaint and thought you sickos could give it a decent paint scheme.
Standard and floatplane templates included, pick whichever one you prefer.
In the meantime, dumping schemes from the 8ch thread.
I'm making a video game where there's a huge area that's off-limits because of a massive train crash. It's going to be implied that the train was secretly carrying nerve gas. The game is set in a vague time period that's somewhere within 35 years of present day. Is there a specific model of train that I should research? Does anyone have any good reference photos for me to make the 3D model? It preferably should look like a train to people, but I think going to, like, an iconic steam-engine train is probably too much.
>>1076842
Bump, no idea what the answer is but this sounds cool.
Screenshot of non-train-related area of game for bump.

> It's going to be implied that the train was secretly carrying nerve gas
Model it after the Tokyo subway.

fuckin'... wow, yeah? what-not-to-do-while-riding-your-bike.
DurianRider.
got a small pump for my birthday, looking to mount on my bike. i have empty cage bosses on the bottom tube and the pump fits there, but is this a good place for them?
considering also putting it on the side by the seatpost bottle cage but it almost rubs my leg when pedaling. dont want it on the top tube, as i put other stuff there as needed
where/would you put yours?
>>1073330
Mounting the pump under the downtube isn't a good place on a bike unless you have fenders, because then the pump will get sprayed with road crud, I always put mine on the dt (beside a bottle cage) or the seattube.
>almost rubs
It's either in your path, or it isn't.
I've got my much larger Turbo Morph G on the seat tube angled back. My leg only contacts it if I am standing coasting with my right leg down.
used to do the normie thing and have it inside the frame triangle on one of the bottle mounts
got stolen
now its stealth mounted on the underside of my rear rack, electrical taped over all the shiny bits too
