Breakfast is either oatmeal on ride days, or some sort of egg dish on gym / rest days

At 11 I have a shake with spinach kale and banana

At 1:30 I eat lunch, usually quinoa with beans or something like that

At 3:30 I have some sort of shake with wheatgrass protein powder and a bunch of veggies

At 5:30 I have dinner which varies a lot but I'm vegetarian so usually tofu or beans with barley or quinoa. At least 3 days a week I eat salmon or tuna steak

At 8:30 every night I have 250mL of vanilla ice cream

At 9:00 every night I eat a large carrot.

This schedule is concrete and does not change.

Ah, and I feel I should answer your other questions, I drink LOTS of water on a daily basis, and this is the same on rides. And on longer rides I carry some sort of energy bar and eat it part way through after a few hours (I prefer vector bars)

I don't spend that much money on food, the only notable expenses are my fish, and shake stuff. Other than that it's largely bulk stuff and vegis.

I would say cut down on the milk, eat less fruit, and more vegis. But other than that your diet doesn't seem all that bad.

Ihad my mountain bike stolen in denver at the end of summer. It was my own fault I guess cuz I just used a cable lock. I saw other people using them so I thought it was ok.
I know better now and have a u lock and a heavy duty chain.

I've got two major questions.

One, the chainstay (2nd from bottom pic) was getting really nicked up on my bike, and when I noticed I put a few layers of masking tape over it. Today, when I peeled it off to take a picture there wasn't any more damage but quite a bit has already been done. I would like to know why the chain might be hitting the chainstay and how to prevent it.

Two, in additon to the chainstay damage there's some old chips on other parts of the frame that have rotten rusty, and I have bought some supplies from various stores to fix them.

The supplies I bought for painting are:
>sandpaper, 60, 150, 220, and 2000 grit
>rust remover gel (phosphoric acid, water, 2-propanol)
>wax/grease remover prep spray
>surprisingly well matched red spraypaint
>clearcoat
>acetone
>rags
>brushes
>masking tape

My plans for painting, from start to finish are:
>mask off about 1cm around area with tape and paper
>sand with 220 (150 as needed if it's rusty or rough) on and within about a half centimeter of the chipped area, trying not to remove metal
>if it's got rust use the rust remover as directed until it's sufficiently gone, careful to keep it off existing paint
>wipe the area clean
>clean lightly with acetone and/or prep spray (I'm not sure about what do do)
>spray some red paint into tray
>brush on a light coat to cover the sanded area, focusing on chipped spot
>sand lightly with 220
>repeat for 4-5 coats
>sand final coat with 220 then 2000
>spray a coat of clear on masked off area
>use buffing compound to blend the clearcoat in with the stock paint

I'd like to know if I should do anything differently or if I'd be doing anything wrong. The bike is a late 80s/early 90s peugeot montreal express, and the paint almost looks like enamel, which I'm a little concerned about.

Also, how would I go about fixing the chips in the decals, Should I just go with the plan I already laid out and do the final coat over the letter area white before clear coating it?

That's pretty involved for a paint patch, I'd like to know how your plan works out, sounds like you're on the right track.

Personally, when I touch up dings I just dab on some nail polish or enamal model paint and call it good - not as thorough as what you're doing but it works, at least for bikes in a dry climate that get stored indoors.

For the decals - there's no way to fix or improve them, you either have to paint over them or peel them off completely.

Oops I neglected your first question: chain slap happens when your chain has slack in it and you ride over rough terrain. If your chain is too long or you're using an old derailer that doesn't take up slack effectively, those are problems you can solve, but sometimes on a bike with a triple crankset, wide range gearing, and longish chainstays, there's always going to be a lot of chain available to flop around and bash the stay, so your best option is to make sure you have a large-enough chainstay protector in place.

Looks like a Track Bike that was re-tasked as a street Fixie. It's got a front brake, and maybe that Big Bird thing on the handlebars has a horn.

I do get pissed when someone takes a historically significant road frame, e.g. an old curved stay Hetchins, and files off the derailleur hanger and brake cable guides to make a smooth fixie frame. In the case of this Bianchi, it doesn't look molested; there's nothing to prevent it from being restored to it's original self.

Tiagra is great for a first road bike. As the other anon said in the previous thread, your saddle seems tilted a bit too far back, may wanna level it with the ground. Same with the bars, in time when you get more flexible you'll be wanting a lower position.

ShimaNO is evil.

First of all, to work on a ShimaNO bike requires different tools for cartridge bottom brackets, freewheels, and freehubs. The Campagnolo tool lets you do all three with the same tool.

ShimaNO created new standards, like changing the size of cable heads. ShimaNO shift cables won't fit classic downtube shifters, but Campagnolo ones will.

ShimaNO freehubs have short splines, so they have to be made from heavy steel or expensive titanium, or if they're aluminum they will notch.

That's only a few things off the top of my head.

SRAM chains are particularly greasy, and require cleaning out of the box. This is because some of their low end chains aren't properly plated, and get surface rust very easily, which can lead to increased wear. Either rust dust or grime can increase wear, so I'd advise against the low end chains. Nothing wrong with higher end SRAM chains though and they come with a quick link.

You should never buy a Campy chain. By all means, they're excellent chains, some people are able to get extremely long lives out of a Campy chain. But they're expensive and may require a special expensive tool to install, and they're really just not worth it.

There's nothing wrong with a Shimano chain. They just don't come with a quick link.

KMC makes good reliable chains that come with quick links. They also make some lightweight and colored chains for bling. KMC chains are in no way inferior chains, although some may argue the dedicated chain might be designed to work better with matching components. They also OEM some of the chains marketed by other brands.

Sunrace/BBB are cheap shit with mystery quality, and neither brand really strives to ensure quality or get you the best product. They just give you cheap shit at the lowest price. Like many importer brands, it can be hit and miss depending on the specific item, or even batch.

FSA doesn't really make chains. I'm pretty sure they either subcontract with KMC or YBN.

I work at an LBS and still have to deal with this shit.
The only positive aspect I can say about the experience for most people is that an LBS will solve all your compatibility problems, so someone doesn't buy the wrong stem for the wrong bars or something like that.
