Is this what they mean by taking him to the cleaners?
>someone tries to steal your bike
>it keeps slipping out of their hands and eventually they give up
Stumbled upon this today: http://www.outsideonline.com/2059412/worlds-21-most-beautiful-handmade-bikes?
Thoughts?
Pic related: full stainless fixie
I didn't find any of those particularly beautiful. They're just gimmicky, tacky, or both.
>dude look at these weird shaped tubes and wacky colors lmao
>>930695
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought as well.
Would pic related even work for a trip longer than a day? The weight distribution seems super weird to me.
>>930695
This one is kind of okay but the person who took the photo must be retarded.
have you guys heard of Schauff bikes
im in germany right now and this dude wants 160 euro for a "vintage schauff racing bike"
is that a reasonable price?
>pic related

>dat backwards seat clamp
>dat stem height
>dat brake lever mounting
>dat everything
Is you friend a crackhead? And no, that's not a reasonable price for a downtube shifted piece of scrap that's been ridden to shit by a junkie.
Offer him 20 euro
really , schauff not even written on the frame. whatever, schauff´s bikes are mostly from 500-3000. Nothing special . If you are looking for a new cheap bike, offer him way much less, about 100 max.

What's wrong with "with you"?
>>931490
One time I heard a controller get on to someone because "With U" Was not the atis code.
Its literally just a useless filler word that clutters the radio imo
How much to fly rubber dog shit out of hong kong now?
I am interested in becoming a truck driver. What should I consider before making the decision. It is at least a one year commitment.
Go ask the truckerfag thread on /o/
:)
>>927109
I always say you need 2 things to be a trucker.
The ability to drive without sleep, and the ability to put up with shit.
What type of trucker?
OO or company
Solo or team
Day cab or interstate
Fixed route/brokered loads/LTL
Who pays for gas/maintenance/cleaning
7on, 5/2 , 10/4
Pay per load or pay per mile
Do you have to pay for cdl/training pr is the company
Do you owe the company time?
title, what are ups and downs between using chain or hub gears?(pic)
>>931025
Hub gear: expensive, heavy, comparatively high losses and fixed increments and range
Derailleur gear: cheap, light, low losses, easily configurable in both range and spacing by swapping cassettes, weak/vulnerable and exposed to external forces
>>931028
>fixed increments and range
???
>>931028
what do you mean by high losses, range and fixed increments?
also derailleur gear is harder to drive.

Seems good, go ahead
>>931514
perfectly cromulent bike; nice find
Yes. $120 for a Shogun in your size is already good in D.C. Markups there for used bikes are absolutely insane.
Suntour and Sugino? Awww yisss.
>this type of thing probably comes up alot but I didnt see it in the catalog
I commute about 10 miles each way to college on my bike. I am thinking the ride will be more comfortable if I get a cargo rack to go over the back tire for my backpack. The backpack can be a little heavy at times, 20lbs maybe more. Would it be hard to secure it? Is there a better way to do this? $100 price range.
Back rack with a basket?
>pic related, its my bike
>>932185
Front rack +basket +octopus strap net
Rear rack +basket +octopus strap net
Rear rack +saddlebag
Rear rack +panniers
>>932200
>Rear rack +basket +octopus strap net
Would a net to hold it without the basket?
I dont think I want to go with panniers. Wouldnt it be weird if the weight wasn't evenly distributed?
>>932207
Use an octopus strap plus net then. I use a 1m octopus and attach it to the bottom hooks on the rear rack when carrying a case of beer.
I'm trying to replace my bike's inner tube. I got the tube out and the old one in and this happened. The stem isn't long enough to fill up the tube. It's driving me crazy. Did I fuck up somewhere?
>>930866
Common mistake, buy a new inner tube with long valve
>>930866
u dun fukd up
how do they hang the bike up?
Magnets. How do they work though?
Magnets shmagnets. There's a really powerful fan underneath the bike and it's levitating on a current of air.

Im in a predicament /n/.
I have a chance to trade one of my road bikes for a Gan Well Pro frame from my LBS. The Gan Well is worth more than my bike but its been sitting because the owner of the shop ordered it when there was a fixie boom in 06-07. Should I trade in hopes of getting the frame and then selling it to some city asshole for 1,100?
>>931896
If the shop can't sell it for less than $1100, what makes you think you can sell it for $1100?
>>931898
Naive city hipsters drawn to Kerrin racing like it supreme steel, or weekend warriors that buy expensive bike gear bc they can. He said himself he'd take as little as 500 for it to free up space. He sells far more mtbs and road bikes than track stuff
>>931904
And why wouldn't he just sell it to a naive city hipster? Are you out in the boonies or something?
Why can't America into public transit?
http://nypost.com/2016/01/25/mta-to-test-open-gangway-trains-to-give-passengers-more-room/
The MTA is FINALLY thinking about getting rid of the archaic subway cars and replacing them with opengangway trains, the trains the rest of the world has been using for decades.
The first test run will be 2020
>>926054
More room inside the trains is great, but if they could actually get the spacing between trains to be at the officially published intervals instead of bunching up and then long gaps, crowding wouldn't be such a big deal
>no trains for 11 minutes
>all of a sudden, 2 trains in a row
>everyone tries to get on the first train
>oops it's crowded as fuck!
About the only line where the open gangways are a bigger deal than CBTC is the 6, where the trains are practically back to back and every single one is packed to capacity. But the 2nd avenue subway will be opened before any new rolling stock comes along and that will probably alleviate the worst of the crowding and bring it down to normal-tier rush hour density.
>>926054
It's huge
Fuel is cheap as fuck .
Cities do have adequate PT
>>926054
cause: public transit = communism
So I'm thinking about buying a steel frame with a 1" steerer standard size tubing, and I'm a bit torn on weather to buy the threaded one or the threadless one.
Threadless -
Pros: Stiffer, lighter, more stem options, more bar options, lower stack
Cons: Oversize stems and bars might look weird and cutting the steerer
Threaded -
Pros: It matches better, and you don't have to cut the matching fork
Cons: It's clunkier and worse in every performance metric
If I go threaded, the bar is going to be higher than I normally ride, but I like the color better, and I don't have to worry about cutting the matching fork too short for the future, and aesthetically it should look better. I'm torn on this one.
I would go quill with 1" - threadless with 1 1/8"
> if 1" threadless you'll have to use a shim
> or get a 26.0 clamping 1" threadless stem on ebay (limited choices) (and limited bar selection)
The real question is why are you even buying a new frame in 1" if you think you want threadless
Also, is quill really worse? If you know your fit, you won't have to fuck around with trying out different stems, building will be okay.
And if you're not racing who cares. A little stem flex can be /comfy/
>>931184
Because the frame looks so good. Yes quill is worse. It's not as stiff, it's heavier, the stack height is higher, and the headsets need more maintenance. Stem is not where you want flex.
Lugged frames should have quill stems
I don't know why you're so worried about some minor performance difference on a random steel frame.
