Hello /n/ I'm looking to buy a used bike. Something thats good quality but does not break the bank. So I found this bike on craigslist. If someone can look it up for me and tell me if its worth the price, especially considering all those parts.

No way, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for that Raleigh. The seller may have sunk more than that into fixing it up, but at the end of the day it's still a bike with a stem shifter and a crappy frame. If anything, aside from installing modern bars and freewheel, he made it a less capable bike than it would have been with the stock parts.

OP, tell us your height, budget, and intended use and we can browse your CL page for better options.
>>

Not OP, I'm really having a hard time finding a decent road bike. I've been looking for almost a week, but I've only found one that I really liked, but the seller already sold the bike (yet he still has the listing up, it's the blue carbon Trek w/ Ultegra). It's my first road bike and I really don't want to make a bad decision. Many thanks in advance.

You can change the filters if you like, but I'd rather not travel outside of 50 mi. from where I live, unless it's a REALLY good deal.

Who here have ED brought on from cycling? Is it permanent or have you restored the flow of blood? Be honest guys. Maybe say how much you rid too

Yeah, my junk hasn't worked for 5 years or so, I'm pretty sure it's permanent

I've ridden about 50,000 miles over the past decade and don't have any problems. If I go for a long ride, particularly one that leaves me feeling fatigued and worn, I might feel a little numb and won't be able to get an erection immediately after getting off the bike, but all function returns within 30 minutes.
>>
If your junks is tingling stop doing what you are doing and get off the saddle.

After changing from road to XC the more upright position and good fit almost completely eliminated any tingling and numbness I had. Also when you go out warm yourself up a little by running a circle or something to get your hearth rate up.

I noticed that the fist hour of cycling sometimes causes some numbness because of legs being weak/cold and not supporting my ass properly. Leg and core workout should solve that with time.

Numbness is also very common with heavy/overweight riders and beginners because of just general weak legs that can't support the spine properly and rely on saddle to do the work.

Yea, for a child.

These kinds of newsboy cruiser frames are almost always sized for riders who are about 12-14 years old. They're simply not big enough for adults. The ONLY way they're useful for an adult is if you don't have to actually pedal the thing.
....
Tho this one does have a welded-on rear rack, which I think is A Good Thing. (that no US companies seem to sell, but anyway)

I have no objection to engines on bicycles, but this one is a total-loss 2-stroke which does burn very dirty. China even banned these things, and is forcing people to electrics now.
Not that this necessarily pollutes less overall, but an electric motor has no tailpipe to spew smoke.
(And to be honest--there were also a lot of 2-stroke mopeds and motorcycles present before in China, also. They're getting rid of those too)

Also that rag-joint on the rear wheel tends to break spokes.

Damn, all that equipment looks like it's one day away from falling apart.

I wonder if there was a possibility of the railroad surviving.

Probably not, the accumulated years of deferred maintenance of its track and equipment had reduced the company's ability to reliably transport goods and remain competitive. The best it could have hoped for was a merger into a larger, more profitable railroad system, like what happened with Frisco and BN later that same year. At the time there were no willing takers, however.
>>
There is a book that tells of the long, slow decline of the Rock Island. They wanted to merge with UP but UP kept putting it off. The lack of money for upkeep didn't help Rock Island.

Autistic people love trains because they're very orderly and only run on the rails.
Lots of little info to obsess over as well.

The show, and its fans, overlap with Sonic because it's full of 'template' characters that they don't have to try so hard to understand.

Thinking of buying one of these today for daily commute and light riding on the weekend. Replacing a Jamis Coda. Am i making a mistake?

Those tires probably aren't great for road commutes, but you will love the STIs and the full fenders stock is great. How much is it?

Rolling resistance is meant to be really good for a MTB style tyre. Puncture resistance not good tho, might swap for some schwalbe marathon.

I found one on sale for about USD $1075 (I'm in Aus so AUD $1420)

>>1015512
yes unfortunately, I'm telling myself that as my commute is only 5k each way it will be OK (?)

I'm fortunate to live in southern california near plenty of mountain climbs. I'm getting back into cycling after a long hiatus and want to try climbing but i'm terrified of getting any real spead downhill. I have friends that will go up baldy on the weekend and casually fly 45 mph back down and i don't get it

tl;dr i'm terrified of going over 30 mph downhill on a mountain road

Can roller coasters be considered a form of transport? They are specialized railway systems afterall.
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1015161
Typically no, because passengers aren't transported between two points, they just travel in a loop.

There's no reason you couldn't actually build a transportation roller coaster with a station on each end, but I'm not aware of any that do this.

Id prefer used but I dont even know how to tell if a used bike sucks or not. They all seem to have flat tires but rust is rare. Is there a guide for buying used bikes?

so i started cycling
my first goal 7.6 miles 3.8 miles each way
and my second goal (today) i did 17 miles
8.5 miles each way.

how many miles do you think will be challenging enough for next weeks goal

also, wow the difference of being strapped to the pedals. it feels kinda awkward just pedaling. trying to keep the rhythm just sorta idling. but when you dig down in a high gear to pump that shit out. it really feels good to push and pull as hard as you can.... fuck it feels good

How long were you in the saddle to do those 17 miles?

If you're really unfit/slow, you might want to focus on time in the saddle vs set distances
