Can any of you recommend a mountain bike short which is sort of halfway between lycra and baggy? Not keen on skin tight lycra for mtb riding but dont want baggy pants either.
Get padded undershorts then some shorts from your favourite sports brand that has your desired level of baginess

>Not keen on skin tight lycra for mtb riding
y not? wear them for a day and you'll get used to them. They much more comfortable than chunky shorts.

If you just started cycling please change your handle bars from flat bars to drop bars, raise your seat, slam your stem and start riding 1 hour minimum per day for six months before you start posting.
Kthx

>raise your seat, slam your stem
Post your bike then faggot. I guarantee my saddle-to-bar drop is greater than yours.
>>1024533
>change your handle bars from flat bars to drop bars
Sure -- if you've got a road bike, and aren't just a commuter. And have an extra $500 lying around to invest in a whole new cockpit, even if that doubles the total cost of the bike.
>raise your seat, slam your stem
In other words, throw away the money you spent getting your bike properly fitted to you, or if you didn't do that, set yourself up for a repetitive motion injury?
>and start riding 1 hour minimum per day for six months before you start posting
Yeah, because every Anon on /n/ wants to be a Cat-1 Pro rider looking to get onto the UCI tour.
There used to be a time in the distant past when posting bait threads was a art. Now, it's more like a 16 year old boy having sex for the first time: can't find the hole, and uses his penis like a battering ram, instead of the precision instrument it is.
The best lies have their basis in truth; in other words, it would have helped if you at least rode a bike yourself, which clearly you do not. "Write what you know".
Go back to >>>/b/, OP, and lurk more. You're just not ready.

Bike gore thread
>>1024389
How, heretical.
>>1024389
What's wrong with that? What if that is the best fit for that particular rider?
>>1024389
Damn, where do you live? I'm gonna steal that bike.
What frustrates /n/ most about bikes, bike parts, bike accessories, or anything mechanical that could be fixed or needs a solution?
I'll start: the state of tubes is unacceptable. It's unreasonable that we can't make a tube that doesn't pop over the smallest things, leak too much you can't ride on it in a day, and cost less than $10.
Note: this is not a thread about types of cyclists or bikes you hate, or about hating bikes in general.
>>1024297
>It's unreasonable that we can't make a tube that doesn't pop over the smallest things
Try pushing a 2x4 into your skin, doesn't work. Now try a hypodermic needle. Tubes pop over he smallest things because physics.
>>1024298
Sure, smaller things will always have higher chances of popping tubes, but it just seems like with modern rubber it shouldn't be too hard to stop them popping all the time. Not a chemical engineer though.
Getting goddamn mudguards on a road bike with no mounts, or a pannier rack... Fuuuuu! why can't we just plug and play everything?
And all the fucking rusting of chains at the slightest adverse weather!
How would you fix Amtrak?
>electrify all their rail.
>use engines that are diesel and overhead catenary powered. so they can keep going in a black out.
>for amtrak footing the bill for electrification. their trains get priority on the lines owned by cargo rail. which means faster and more reliable travel.
>every amtrak train that isn't always full of passengers. has one car replaced with a car that carry passenger cars. fuck I would go by train more if I could bring my car with me and avoid rentals.
>Cut money losing long-distance routes
>Promise butthurt senators from states losing train routes something in return
>Use funds to electrify some lines
>Make deals with freight companies for more frequent passenger service
>Buy new trains
>Lower workers' salaries (U.S. railroad workers make triple what their European counterparts do)
>Where possible buy lines
>In the end if possible privatize the whole thing (Amtrak will still keep the tracks it owns it'll just lease them out like Britain)
>>1024166
Forgot to mention
>Replace wooden ties with concrete ones
>Coordinate schedules so Amtrak trains never run into freight trains
>When there's enough money build passenger-only track alongside regular track so Amtrak can stop mooching off freight railroads
>Freight trains and Acela trains get dedicated tracks so Acela can reach higher speeds
>Now Acela trains don't have to be built to retarded FRA regulations
>Straighten out old Shore Line NYNH&H track from New York to Boston to increase speeds
>Make profits, end subsidies

To the multiple anons who have chinese frames on here, how have they been so far? and where did you buy it from?
>>1023909
I don't own one, but I'd advise against it. Most of the horror stories you hear about carbon fiber frames shattering catastrophically are either off-brand Chinese-made, or counterfeits of well-known name-brand frames.
>>1023911
i dont hear too many horror stories about them, i hear more good things about them than bad things tbqh. All bike are made in Taiwan anyway so who gives a fuck.

Do you gguys get brown/grey stains on you pads like in pic related?
Surely it can't be all fecal matter?
It's probably bacterial growth, soak it in stain remover/prewash soak overnight

I might freeze it overnight maybe, should kill all bacteria?
It seems that you are sweating shit
My Yotsuba jersey arrived today. It looks great. Thinking about doing a 404km ride in it because

If dubs get I'll do it.

How much did it cost?
Does anyone else with mechanical disc brakes deliberately set them up to make a noise which scares the shit out of pedestrians when squeezed just right?
>SQUAAAAAAAAANK
My "superior" disc brakes make me wish my bike had inferior rim brakes.
I got some hydraulic fluid in the pads, now they squeal really loudly, I use it instead of a bell to let people in front know I'm nearby
>tfw i fell for the hydro disk brake meme
Only a few more hours until the first episode of Longriders airs.
Anyone else on /n/ looking forward to this 'cute girls discover road cycling' anime?
not at all dear god no
Not really, but I'll still watch the pilot so I can properly hate it
>>1015600
Probably not, I tend to hate cycling animes as the main protagonist generally became strong as fuck in, what, 4-5 months, which is totally unrealistic. I also hate when they talk in a climb while giving their «most». Who the fuck have enough air to talk at a time like that ?

This is a thread to discuss racing, training and riding bikes competitively. CX is here. How fares your training, /brt/?
Base season. Two sweet spot trainer days after work, two pre-work lifts, and 2x75mi on the weekend. I'm even getting good at riding hungover on Sundays.
how much dosh should i spend on a bike computer? i want cadence speed HR, im 100 pages in the training bible.
>>1015257
Buy something that's Ant+ compatible and will support a power meter, so you won't have to worry about proprietary sensors and pickups that you can't get, and in case you get a power meter of some sort later.
>>1015213
>How fares your training, /brt/?
Haven't officially started Fall training yet, even if I'm still riding and going to the gym, but I'm sick at the moment so I'm not doing anything.
Last one is over the post limit. so let's get it going again. Come here to post screenshots of your ride data and Stravas while everyone else laughs at (You)
>riding to the top of a mountain just to practice breakdancing
Dumb.
Its still warm enough to just wear shorts and a short sleeve jersey
60 km ride in the city today since it was windy. The gusts were nearly 70 km/h so I had to stay on the streets instead of the MUP which has nothing to block the wind.
These goddamn things are ruining my life ;_;
I need any and all options for dealing with them. PLease help me /n/
Wish you luck. Got no suggestions.
