Do /n/iggers go night cycling? I have been having the urge lately to just get on my bike and start riding at night. Is this normal? Do people do this?
I've done it a couple of times, I hardly ever can muster the energy to get up at night for a ride but when I do it's great.
>go at 5 am flat (webm related)
>drink lots of nespresso with milk before going out
>it's 3°c
>strong winds make it 10x worse
>pitch black trails that can't be even lit with my 900 lumen light
>climb to 400m elevation
>due to extreme cold and pushing myself hard my body pancakes and launches an anal evacuation
>shart in my bibs
>wind is so fucking loud it sounds like I'm in the middle of the sea
>after just 20km say fuck it and return home at 6 am or so
>have a nice warm shower, some warm tea and super comfy pajamas
>remember how gnarly it was and how it's all over
>best feel ever
do it.

>>why are you hitting your head against the wall
>because it feels so nice when i stop
We haven't seen any good stuff for ages.
I'll miss these forever. The best rides I've ever had. They were smelly, noisy and bumpy, but great.

They were shit. Rusted so bad that the road was visible through the floor. Now that I think about it, the citaros aren't so bad

How hard would it take to turn a collectible bike into an adventure bike?
Also, if you saw such a bike IRL would you not at least smile?
I actually did see one of these in town this summer. Looked like it was being used as a beater/grocery getter.
I chuckled a bit when I saw it.

You should have stopped that person to inform that the bike was collectable and was a crime using it because that decreases its value.
>>1020579
That has a great main triangle unhindered by the rear shock. Would make a great adventure bike with frame bag
Post bicycles that are both aesthetic and professionally photographed.
No hipster bullshit, please.

I’ve been given the 'girl-version' of this bike by an old friend who’s just upgraded. Its mostly in good condition,a bit creaky, requiring some work on the breaks, and probably soon a new tire.
Questions?
how good/bad of a bike is this?
is it worth the investment to fix?
And what should I know/look for as a novice?
Also Im moving to a place where biking is actually possible so i’d love to get back into it.
Whats the best place to learn about bike repair and maintenance?
>Questions?
yes?
>how good/bad of a bike is this?
depends on your usage
>is it worth the investment to fix?
depends on what you need to "fix", because changing a tyre isn't a fix, its something you HAVE to do nonetheless
>And what should I know/look for as a novice?
depends on what you are going to do with your bike, because why would you want to know abuot MTB or Roadbikestuff if you never do Mountainbiking nor Roadbiking?
>Whats the best place to learn about bike repair and maintenance?
just watch the bikeman4u yt channel :^)
>>1026829
It's 'brakes' not 'breaks', damnit.
>>1026858
>depends on your usage
>depends on what you are going to do with your bike, because why would you want to know abuot MTB or Roadbikestuff if you never do Mountainbiking nor Roadbiking?
im moving to the country some time soon so there is an opportunity for both road and Mountain action.
For now i’ll be on tarmac’ed roads going up fairly steep hills. Would it be good for that?
>depends on what you need to "fix", because changing a tyre isn't a fix, its something you HAVE to do nonetheless
alright, the brakes are creaky the derailleur may require changing ,and yes the tires are getting old and need replacing =/
still other then that its in good condition.
Cycle commuters, can we have a luggage/bag thread? How do you carry your stuff while cycling?
Other forms of commuting that require luggage accepted
I use a Carradice saddlebag for daily use. It's great

Also just got this for larger loads
Generally a rucksack because its only five miles, and I had two road bikes neither of which had eyelets of any kind. However I just bought pic related for winter which has rack mounts, so will likely buy a rack and one or two sturdy Pannier bags.
As an aside, I'm hoping to use this for a couple one or two night tours as well, does anybody have any experience using a loaded non-touring soecified set up for short trips?
I'll Likely have no more than 8 or 9kilos of stuff on board and I weigh c. 73Kg. I'll most likely be travelling on quiet roads and gravel tracks...what do you think would fail first? I'll be replacing the adjustable stem with a rigid one, the frame is 7005 alu with steel fork. Sorry for slight thread hijack but I like the idea of touring yet have little knowledge of it.

I have th Carradice Nelson. Looks great, but putting it on is a bitch. Takes forever to try to loop it to the my Brooks sprung saddle because the springs are in the way.
What's the most /n/ thing I could do with $100k, I was thinking one of those full year, round the world cruises, but would like to hear your ideas

solid gold 90's rigid mtb w/ slicks
let's talk small-wheeled road bikes
where my lads at riding anything smaller than 700c? although that size is more or less indisputably the best for road racing, I've already got a race bike and would like something a little more nimble for urban use
the most common sizes are pretty much the largest, after 700c it's 650b which you'll see on touring bikes and smaller frame sizes. 650c/26" is pretty much reserved for really small women's bikes and, again, touring bikes. 24" is only for kid's roads bikes, and 20" is for BMX bikes and mini velos (a mini velo pretty much being any 20" bike that isn't BMX)
I really enjoy the agility of a BMX or even a 26" rigid MTB as compared to my 700c road bike. it's not just the weight of the wheels or whatever that makes it handle better, but the way your center of gravity is positioned over the wheels. I can't really quantify it with technical terms, but if you've ever ridden a BMX bike you'll know just how much easier it is to throw it around in an urban environment without ever worrying about your grip or cornering clearance.
what small-wheeled road bikes are you guys riding? 90s rigid MTBs with slicks? those are a great choice, but I'd like something with road geometry. anyone tall (6'1+") have experience with a mercier nano? $300 on bikes direct. a BMX with a 3-foot long seatpost? show me those bikes, lads
Is 700c even the best? I thought it was just mindless traditionalism like all of the uci rules.
>>983099
there are some arguments that 650b or 650c is more aerodynamic than 700c, but 700c requires the least power to roll over long distances (relative to 650c/b at least), and because bicycle racing is historically done in a peloton over long distances, 700c became the standard
does nobody here really ride anything other than 700c?
Moulton bikes are nice.
Dr Moulton intended his design to create compact bikes that were inexpensive, efficient and practical. His bikes are trendy but hardly inexpensive.
Ok, I need some real serious answers here.
My rear bike tyre keeps going flat every two weeks or so now (changed it everytime) and I got no explanatio n why. Please help

Check the catalog for 'BQG' thread.
>>1026805
start here:
-take out flatted tube, try to inflateto get location relative to stem
-check for fraying on inner part of tire
-check for worn rim tape, also check if it's moved off spoke nipple end. Look 4 sharp protrusions on inside of rim
>>1026805
do you mean it's going flat? or you're getting punctures? Because I pump my tires up weekly, they don't hold air forever.
posted wrong..
A birthday present for myself, can anyone tell me how I can get it to coast better?
Also any general advice on making it better is welcome.
Woops,
<-------- This is the bike I bought. The original posted bike was a 29 but it was too big for me, I am 5' 9" - had to return it

At the laundromat atm. Think my front brakes are too close to the rim..
Its really my bike. Im no troll. I need help with my bike you fuck.
How does one recover from PTSD of boomers with shit eating grin passing you on their brand new e-bikes? It's steep as shit climb and they don't even bother shifting to low gear. One can hear the motor suffering.
I hope they run out of juice and die of sudden hearth attack when they actually have to pedal FUCK

when they are at a stop light do the good ol tree branch through spoke trick.

I don't know why this would bother you. Do you cycle because you enjoy it or because you want to fell superior to other people?
I think it's fantastic that ebikes allow people who normally wouldn't to enjoy cycling. Of course you can say they would get better exercise on a normal bike but who really cares?
Why would you care about e-bike fags

Los Angeles County, which was built to accommodate cars, may now finally become a true urban area.
Since I don't know wtf Measure M is:
>Measure M would raise the county sales tax by a half-penny, generating an estimated $120 billion over four decades for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to build new highway projects and expand bus and rail lines, including boring twin rail tunnels through the Sepulveda Pass.
>The rail system would expand to Pacoima, Claremont, Westwood, Torrance and Artesia. The tax also would fully or partly fund 10 highway projects, such as an extension of the freeway on State Route 71 and a new carpool-lane interchange between the 405 and 110 freeways.
>Measure M would raise the county’s base sales tax rate by half-cent in 2017 and increase it to 1% in 2039 after another half-cent sales tax expires. The levy would continue until voters choose to end it.
Sounds okay. The LA area is getting interesting.
>>1025428
For those of you who don't know, the Sepulveda Pass is one of the worst bottlenecks in the world that connects the San Fernando Valley to the LA Basin. A tunnel with rail lines would be a real game changer.
>>1025436
What kind of rail lines would go through them?
Soon it's gonna be too cold for many people living in the Northern Hemisphere to ride their bikes.
