What are your thoughts on worn out basses/guitars?
How do I get mine to look like this?
Play it for like 30 years and never use any other guitar

play the same guitar for 50 years
Another cool example
>>75206013
if you're more concerned about the way your instrument looks than improving your sound, you'll never get there

it's gonna take some time then
>>75206013
p disgusting imo.
like wtf dude just bring it to a luthier for a layer of resin at bare minimum.
t. violinist/ guitarrist

Either of these or you're a fucking faggot.
>>75206071
ur retarded, if nobody cared what their guitar looked like then we wouldn't have all these wacky guitar shapes and nobody would own more than two or three guitars
>>75206080
in reality i've been using the same guitar for 5 years now and its not even close to this. i even drop it all the time and take it places often without a case. the poly clear coat is strong as fuck so if you want your guitar to ever get to that stage you're gonna have to sand the clear coat off and then use it for a while, or just sand it off and then sand some paint off if you want to skip right to it
>>75206013
You can't unless it has nitrocellulose lacquer.
lmao there are so many retarded fags like OP that a beat up guitar is worth more than a guitar in good condition, and there are people deliberately spoiling healthy guitars because of this
Why do you wanna wear a guitar body? Thats lime me buying a a vintage car thats mine and i make it rust it to make it "look vintage" it's dumb just do it over time and it's a waste of money if you buy one worn.

>he poly clear coat is strong as fuck so if you want your guitar to ever get to that stage you're gonna have to sand the clear coat off and then use it for a while, or just sand it off and then sand some paint off if you want to skip right to it

Stop complaining and make money off it.
>>75206258
>you cant sand off a poly clear coat
>>75206237
people like what they like, why do you care

Do something with your life
>get a job
>save money to travel
>start networking with people and meet up with other musicians
>start touring or playing locally as much as possible
be a unique and creative person, dont think too hard about your guitar's looks and then maybe someday after many years of living a hard, enduring life you'll have a worn out guitar with many stories behind it to tell others.
In other words, get off 4chan and be a member of society.
If they look worn because they're old, I'm okay with it.
I hate "ageing" and relicing, though. It usually looks bad, and the idea behind it is pretty cringeworthy, IMO. It's basically the same thing as being pre-ripped jeans, and that's lame as fuck.

regular lacquer paint chips and checks just like nitro
all those old guitars from the 50s that are beat up probably looked all beat up a couple years after they were new, lacquer is just really fragile finish
