I'm admittedly new to noise. I've listened to the various sub-sub-genres (harsh, wall, PE, death industrial, etc.), and I think my favorite is stuff along the lines of pic related. Lots of loops/sampling, very static-y, occasionally loud.

Long story short, can anyone recommend me more tape loop noise albums?

some speedcore borders on noise. it's been forever since I've listened to this stuff but iirc rottencore - bloody fuck is really noisy you may also want to look through the compilations "splitter destruction" and "psychopathic sound mastrubation" to find the noisier artists. I believe all of this was put out by the SKRD label which, last I checked, had all of their stuff up for free.

Opinions on my first noise release? Should I stop before I get worse?
>>
>>60159472
sorry to say but you look qt. I was expecting amateur "harsh" laptop but got that white noise. I kinda dig the texture at the begging but man it drags(of course it's partially my fault cause I am accustomed to very short fast thinking trax). I also like the idea of description. It narrows my imagination but in a good way(despite being a bit cliche).
Second. Start sounds pretty generic to my ears but then the TRAIN came and went in circles to inject mellow/shoe melodies. I would really like if suddenly something much harsher kicked in. That sudden up in volume on 3:55 was a spot on. For fucks sake, please, on 5:00 louder till it clips. That loop fits very well too, but imo you should end it about 6 min in(like whole trax not only that loop). And it ends. Well nothing spectacular.
From both I am gettin the feeling that they begone a long before they started and both tracks are just an aftermath of something much more powerful and well made.
>>
>>60159472
I like it. And I very much appreciate that you actually care enough about your art to give it titles and cover art that seem actually crafted and not lazy, shitty, and random like a lot of the people who post their shit here. Keep up the good work. Keep experimenting and find new sounds, new combinations, etc. Your stuff is not bad at all. More ambient than the kind of noise most people in this thread are going to expect of you, but there are noise elements.
>>
>>60159776

It was more or less just a straight-up noise set. He seems like the average dude, compared to Gene Pick who's straight up crust punk. It would've been longer if these two guys in the audience didn't have a fistfight and knock the noise table down.

>>
>>60166898
Do you not understand what music is?

What type of music appeals to you?
>>
>>60167004
You're comparing visual and audio phenomena. Why is it so different to find noise appealing? I like Everything from Joanna Newsom to Ash Pool along with noise music. I like the sounds. They aren't uncomfortable when you listen at a low enough volume. Noise can be enjoyed viscerally like metal, or meditatively like ambient. I like astructural sound and I like structural sound. I have always enjoyed listening to the sounds around me.
>>
>>60167004
if you think noise is random signals as in tv static or white noise you are clearly mistaken
>>
>>60167107
Every single thing I heard in this thread is either literal noise or mixture of random sounds without any logical pattern.
>>
>>60167059
I'm not saying it's not music - I just do not understand it.

I like a wide variety of electronic music - including ambient. Noise seems to be on another spectrum.
>>
>>60167145
>random sounds without any logical pattern.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdAhNRp6dO0
>>
Would you guys generally consider yourselves noise purists or do you enjoy music outside of the noise genre that employs really blown out textures? I mean, obviously you like other kinds of music but when it comes to screechy distorted stuff are you more inclined towards the all or nothing side of things?

I did an improv set and recently with a keyboard, guitar and a some pedals and recorded it straight onto a single track tape player. It's extremely blown out but from a normie perspective but I'm just not sure how it'd be taken by noise enthusiasts.
>>
>>60167209
Ambient seems like the most pretentious thing I have ever imagined.

Can someone describe the appeal? It's literally background music.

I am not making fun of ambient - I am interested (although I do think you're a bunch of edgy hipsters.)
>>
>>60167232
It just has to sound good. It's extremely obvious to a regular listener whether or not something that's been made lacks aural aesthetic consideration on the part of the performer. There are just certain ways a piece is put together that make it sound decent or shit. You really do have to know what you're doing.
>>
>>60166048
This is fucking awesome.
>>60166898
Noise is the opposite of pretentious. How can you be pretentious about something that has zero rules?
>>
>>60167299
I guess that's the answer I anticipated. I'm struggling with it, because since it was totally live and made up on the spot there are naturally some shaky bits. On the other hand, I think some parts are really well put together. Most of the issues is just guitar noise sections/riffs going on for too long because I had no sense of how much time was passing.
>>
>>60165409
afaik Vomir isn't that active live anymore (wants to spend more time with family/private life), so don't expect a bigger tour in the near future not to mention in the US
>>
>>60167232
I enjoy plenty of noisy shit outside of noise such as the rhythmic noise/industrial techno spectrum as well as noisy metal and punk.

It's a shitty garbage move, but consider buying two of each - one to keep, one to sell. I can't stand people who flip, but I've fucking done it for AmTapes stuff without hesitation.

Certainly not for everything, but the AmTapes secondhand market is absolutely crazy, especially for tour-only stuff.

Cool, hope you enjoy it. I ordered the CD in the mail not knowing what to expect and I ended up loving it personally. I'm actually looking for more of that type of tape loopy noise as well. I've played around with making it myself and discovered how much it appeals to me that way.

That's hilarious. You could have recorded it with a phone or something, although that would probably be where things would become a little weird, if you could only hear it like that from his room.
I've had moments like that, things like an airplane overhead or machines droning & humming that sounded interesting and worth recording. I have a lot of stuff like that on my phone that I've captured.

When Christian Cosmos' Enthronement by God... was being sold from Hospital on vinyl the description implies Fernow is behind RSE, even if he didn't say it himself. Pic related

Dom said in an interview that he never intended for RSE to be mysterious. He said that in one of the liners for "the Christian Cosmos record" which I assume is Unmaking, it said that RSE, VS, and CC are all Fernow's projects, a trinity of sorts that explores the nature of anxiety in nature, man, and god respectively.

>>60194522
Lapke's said it's just rumor that he's involved with CC. He just provided a couple of source materials.
>>
>>60197766
Because he spams his shit everywhere, acts like a child parroting the same insult about everything that's not his, and creates a shit aesthetic with his noise that's comparable to Dicklick Brigade levels of ironic memery.

That's actually a really cool concept, I gotta check this stuff out more. RSE is possibly my favorite fernow project already.
>>
>>60200522
It is. I could never feel the anxiety in CC though. I can feel it in RSE and very much in VS, but CC was always a very optimistic and light-atmosphered sounding project for me.

i only listen to merzbow (other noise never appeals to me) but i'd describe my fascination with it as related to the non-emotional impact of it, i read masami akita once say that it is immediate and doesn't bring to mind memories or associations with things. it's like pure sensation. i used to listen to lots of "normal" music expressing ordinary feelings and thoughts but as i aged i found it difficult to relate to a lot of those things and this immediacy of 'noise' music has more appeal to me. it's aesthetically pleasing, extreme, intense, pushes boundaries; it creates soundscapes that i can use like harsh ambient music while reading and doing other things. it also gives some kind of thrill like driving fast and dangerously or something similar. sometimes i feel like my feelings have become noise, in other words like all i feel inside myself is "noise" rather than a particular emotion as such, it's some kind of disillusionment. but more than this, masami akita is schooled in surrealism and has lots of interesting interests that find their way into his work; there is this surrealistic element of the music, related to dada and other art movements. the combination of sounds that "cramp your mind like the chance meeting of an umbrella and sowing machine on a dissecting table" as masami once put it, referencing a classic surrealist quotation. in other words, it has some novelty that induces pleasure. merzbow also usually has a forceful, driving, moving quality, it's never dull or boring like other noise groups i've tried out, it has power. also i agree with merzbow's views on animal rights, straightedge lifestyle, etc and it gives me pleasure to listen to his stuff.

I've been enjoying some of Merzbow too from a few live shows on Youtube but don't know where to start in terms of albums.

Also, advice for equipment? I was thinking of hooking up my Tascam DP008 to a pedal or too and seeing what happens but I don't know if it would produce the kind of tones and whirrs and highpitched squeals that I enjoy

Crumer's having problems with his upcoming LP, "Stare At The Devil". From the pressing plant:

>Starting around 13:00 minutes into side A, there is heavy, high frequency info. We dropped the level down 20db and dropped the head -- even at that level it is drawing significant current. We would not be able to cut this "as is" at any level competitive with other commercial releases. As another example, side 2 starts with a pulsating 15k tone that we would not be willing to even drop the head with. The tone last for almost 4 minutes and it is this kind of extended incident that cooks cutter heads.
>This is the second time this has happened to a Crumer LP. Getting it re-mastered this time so it stays an LP (Let There Be Crumer we simply did CD version) this is begging for a digital version of the original, too brutal for reality mastering job

It makes me wanna look into more (nearly) purely vocal noise/experimental whatever. Masonna sort of does it. Some artists I can think of other than Junko:

C. Spencer Yeh (Solo Voice I-X)
Ami Yoshida (anything)
Yoko Ono (Voice Piece for Soprano)

Fingers into Marjorelle from Vegas Fountain was fucking great
>>
>>60220492
Ami Yoshida makes me super uncomfortable for some reason while junko is just pure unaltered fun.
>>
>>60220537
Yoshida focuses more on the functioning of her lips, cheeks, tongue, teeth, throat, vocal cords etc in articulating her sounds. You can hear the saliva moving around in her mouth and constricted breathing which I think would add to the discomforting aspect of her style. I'm not sure but it sounds like she might have amplified her throat as well?
C. Spencer Yeh and Gerritt Wittmer/Paul Knowles do similar things, where you can hear their throats and breaths. Links related:

I agree with Junko, as from what I've heard her thing is screaming rather than what I mentioned above. Both are good.
