Can we get a New Wave/Synthpop appreciation thread going?
what's your personal favorite album of the genre?
gb2 death lazare
DEATH IS EVERYWHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERE
Chvrches - the bones of what we believe in
This is really great and doesn't get the praise it deserves because it's compared to Talk Talk's discography and not the New Wave and Synthpop genre.

Never got into pre-colour of spring talk talk. Mainly because Mark Hollis' vocal performances are a train wreck

There's lots of fun to be had with Oingo Boingo, though they're not that heavy on synths
>>55637502
Dead Man's is a classic, but i prefer Good For Your Soul and Boingo myself.

Man, Boingo could have been so great if it had just kept with the dark creepy atmosphere of Insanity and Mery, not to mention that awesome bonus track, unfortunately that album never clicked with me as a whole.

Ben Orr this left his corvette trailer in my neighbors yard back in the 80s and it only got removed last year. Pretty cool. Real rock and roll memorabilia.
When I was young, the only pornography to be had was an old box of magazines my dad's buddy left behind when he left.
It seemed like there was always one pictorial in every 80s mag with a trashy new wave girl - especially in Penthouse
Those were always my favorite.
>also, that pictorial with Grace Jones....HNNNGH

LMAO. I'd still smash her. I think I read somewhere that she went onto a successful career somewhere else in the music industry.

The Beloved were a weird band. Right at the end of New Wave and right before Madchester started. I still don't understand why they weren't huge.
>>55643564
First time I heard The Beloved was on a 1980's compilation tape, that was back when Blackbox - Ride on Time was number 1 and Starlights - Numero Uno was another popular house tune at the time etc
>>55637251
Laurie Andersons - Big Science is a great post-punk new-wave album, very experimental and artsy.
She was married to Lou Reed when he died

Synthpop thread, nice.

If I had to choose only one album from the genre this would be it. Or Depeche Mode's 101. Or New Order's Substance. Whatever. I love Rio as well.
