Grooveshark is dead. Fuck my life.

Is there anywhere left to listen to and catalog full songs without downloading? Goddamn I wish I backed up my playlists, I'd been using that site for 6+ years.
>>
>>55527417
>grooveshark
are you retarded or is this a ruse?
>>
I thought you were trolling but fuck it really is gone
>>
You knew this day would come. It was too mainstream to do what it was doing.
>>
>>55527417
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Literally going back to have to go back to YouTube for music

That site was so convenient
>>
>>55527441

And what's wrong with grooveshark? It was free, fast, and had a big catalog. It was a great while it lasted.
>>
>>55527417

http://www.goear.com/listen/8735821/wish-you-were-here-pink-floyd

goear.com is pretty rad.
>>
FUCK

Could they have not given us one day to back up our playlists? Shit I'm mad at myself...
>>
Does this mean I'm going to have to pay for Spotify now? As far as I know Grooveshark had a bigger library and way more obscure stuff like remixes.
>>
Back to Napster for me.
>>
Hopefully YouTube is next. Same shit different day.
>>
Can't people find a way to base these sites in third-world shitholes to stop this from happening?
>>
>>55527417
Spotify
>>
>>55527759

Is it worth paying $10 a month for compared to the others?
>>
Heh, and I was using it earlier today too.
>>
>>55527759

I wish Spotify had more Japanese songs. I used Grooveshark to listen to many anime songs and Spotify doesn't have much.

Same. It's surreal, my friends and I have been using it since high school and I was starting to think it had found a copyright loophole to stick around.

I predict a third-party will take up where grooveshark left off and we will rejoice

or not
>>
>>55527844
Definitely.
>>
>>55528124
jesus, you're a relic of the web. I bet you remember when geriatric1927 was the biggest star on youtube
>>
RIP :'(
>>
>>55528227

I hope so. That's what always seems to happen with piratebay and such, but I don't see how they could recover GS's catalog without the creator's cooperation.
>>
>>55528236
RIP geriatric1927 :'(
>>
>>55528236

Grooveshark was up to this day still the best totally free music streaming site that you could access immediately on any computer.

What are you on about?

HOLY FUCK I was using it this morning. What the fuck.
>>
Jesus fucking christ. A HUGE about of live shows, bootlegs, remixes, and b sides were lost.
>>
Fucking Christ.:(
Grooveshark was my first real music discovery medium back in ~2006/2007. I haven't used it in yet as but it's sad to see them go.
>>
Fuck, where my Coil coming from now?
>>
>>55528391

This is what pisses me off the most. Grooveshark was a dumping ground for obscure stuff that would never find its way to say Spotify. Plus tons of foreign music that will be a pain to find again.
>>
Music I won't have access to because Grooveshark is kill.

>Rare Sebadoh and Lou Barlow tracks
>Basically any rare guided by voices stuff
>Anything Whiskeytown and Ryan Adams.
>His first ep and b sides one could find ONLY on grooveshark
>Happy Mondays remixes which were great
>Anything live, rare you can think of I'm just skimming the top of the cream
>>
Daaaaamn, that's really sad. I mean, I stopped using Grooveshark and Spotify years ago when I discovered What.cd and Rutracker but still, I fucking loved Grooveshark when I used it. I don't even know what to say. Damn.
>>
ok so i took about a gram of shrooms a coule hours ago and i have to ask

are you guys human beings? LIke just like me? Fingers, eyes, you can breathe and smile and shit?

I need to know

thank you

This sucks real bad

I fucking hate Spotify and all the other music streaming shit, grooveshark was the best one
>>
My sympathies m8s. I'm a Spotify guy that just downloads anything that isn't on Spotify or has a shitty remaster. soulseek doesn't work on my computer sadly :(.

What is the likelihood that someone will be able to create a backup of the site at least for recovery purposes?
>>
>>55529115
>moralfag here . . . I don't wanna pirate shit
>>
>>55527417
grooveshark was totally free, but had probs, it ended by flooding the site with tons of audio advertising,

they made their interface absolutely incomprehensible and purposefully difficult to manage. I guess we all know why, now.

The only similar service i ever used was full albums uploaded to youtube, but now these shitholes who upload them jam about 20 fucking ads between each song.

The way youtube is now, i don't even know if the uploaders can turn off the ads. Anyways, I'm screwed because that site had lots of my fav songs in playlists. hehe.
>>
>>55529138
the record companies own the site now. As part of the settlement.
>>
>>55529148

>>
>>55529115
Yeah, actually owning your music is sooo outdated. I'd much rather have my entire collection be at the mercy of some streaming service like the poor schlobs in this thread. Oh wait. Didn't work out so well, did it?
>>
>>55529148
>I just joined the internet and what is adblock

I have never seen or heard an ad on grooveshark or youtube in my life.
>>
Godfuckingdamnit. I was listening when it went down this afternoon too. I was hoping the lawsuit stuff was bullshit but... They went and did it. Fuck.
>>
>>55529212

mp3s don't take up space in your house and can be backed up. If I owned all the music I listed too I'd need a room just for CDs.
>>
>tfw

Idk how I'm gonna make it, guys
>>
>>55529148
There were ads in grooveshark?
>what is adblock for 200
>>
I ironically just got finished reading a huge article on the start of music piracy in the early 00's.
>>
>>55528353
the grooveshark people were fucking retards though, they thought they could blackmail the record companies. They shoulda just did that shit with an overseas server or sweden or something.
>>
>>55529277
meh, if i knew shit about computers i'd have better things to do than browse 4chan.
