I don't really like the rapping on this, but I like jazzy beats.
You guys know what else I can listen to? I'm familiar with some classics like ATCQ, Pharcyde, Us3.
check out Freestyle Fellowship and Mikah 9 especially for some jazzy flows

Listen to this if you haven't already.
Nujabes, he even has a fair amount of instrumental beats.

this. you don't even have to listen rapping for most of the time..

His stuff is really boring after you've heard it once or twice.
He's like the Kenny G of jazz-hop.
>>55515878
He's elevator music.

You must not have listened to a lot of Nujabes productions, I'd say he can be very versatile and manages to switch things up.

nice mem :( you could at least give it a listen
I'm not going to say all his shit is incredible, but sometimes he really hits it, like when his own label put out a compilation cd, he did like 11 original songs out of 14 just for that cd, and they're amazing.

His drums are so basic I don't know what it is but it bores me to death.
I like a couple of the love (sic) tracks or whatever they're called.
>>55516225
Are you fucking kidding me? The Luv(sic) tracks are the ones with the most basic fucking beat you can think of, I think all of them share the same beat
Did you check out Fly By Night? He grooves that cowbell like a motherfucker during the verses, how are the fucking luv sic drums more interesting than that? Yes I mad

lol I haven't actually heard any of them for like 3 years I just remember liking one of them. Relistening now you're right it has the most generic drums I can think of and that rapper is awful too.
Anyway I don't really see anything interesting in that track either. I mean he's obviously pretty good at what he does but there's nothing that makes me really wanna come back to it. Fly By Night has a cool sample though. I don't see why people put him on a pedestal. What has he done that Krush didn't do better 10 years before him?
Also there's just so many producers making that type of smooth groovy hip-hop. This Black Milk track is more interesting than any Nujabes I've heard.

Thanks for thread.
Is there any actual ACTUAL jazz-hop? With improvisation, complex harmonies, really heavy syncopation, polyphony etc. that isn't just sampled straight from jazz records and looped indefinitely?
Ta-Ku is a pretty good artist for that.
