where were you when you realized that bubblegum bass was more than a silly mu fad and may be the future of dance/pop music?
>>
it has been the trend for at least 2 years now

what do you mean by trend? i mean pc music has certainly garnered some attention in the underground music scene but i definitely wouldn't venture to say that it's gotten much mainstream recognition yet
>>
bumping with the best bgb release
>>
no one wants to talk about this shit? i think it's kind of exciting. looks like charli's next album may be a collab with sophie which is even further proof that this shit is moving into public attention

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af5U7vgsFEw
>>
>>55310698
it's a huge trend, you'd be blind to not notice how much of an effect it's had on so many popular musicians. not charting top 40 musicians, but musicians with an enormous international following nonetheless.

easy ones: Lido/Trippy Turtle, Hudson Mohawke, etc
>>
>>55311373
havn't listened to lido or trippy turtle before. i can see hudson mohawke although i wouldnt consider him too much more popular than the original pc crew
>>
>>55310596
Bubble Gum Bass is the future of music

>>
>>55312065
Fucking love this song And video
>>
>>55312065
I thought this was the future of music for a second but then I realized a converge album was playing in the other tab and made this song sound way cooler than it actual was.
>>
>>55310596
I would love to see OPN work with the PC crew, they could make some really haunting/freaky shit.
>>
what do you guys think about the alleged social/ artistic commentary pc music presents? i think it's much more of a careless appropriation of pop's aesthetics and plastified emotions than a commentary on consumerism or anything like that. I think this article says it pretty well
http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/714-pc-musics-inverted-consumerism/

"The music's pleasurable in the way advertising is designed to be pleasurable, but you never get milked--or not in the way we anticipate."
>>
>>55310849
What is this?
>>
>>55312225
I've always associated PC music with some sense of existential doom. To me most of their stuff represents the bluing of the lines between the digital and real world, which to me is kinda of a scary concept, moving towards an age where the real is indistinguishable from the computer generated. However it showcases this shift using the hyper pop/cute atheistic giving the whole movement some extremely dark undertones of culture and reality as we know it coming to an end.
That's the best way I can explain how it makes me feel. Let me know if that makes sense.
>>
>>55312225
It's about presenting an image, rather than an idea. I think A.G. Cook says that in an interview somewhere. The starting point is an early 00's pop sensibility, but then taking it and merging it with modern dance.

Any sort of commentary on consumerism is incidental (which doesn't make it any less valid).

This GFOTY interview is hilarious btw. She probably my favourite artist from the PC music roster.
>>
>>55312225
>what do you guys think about the alleged social/ artistic commentary pc music presents?
it may be a sham social commentary but it's definitely there in some of their music. hints at technology's influence on contemporary relationships for example.
>>
>>55312426
Most deffinately, absolutely insane. Durring one of her Dj sets she was just completely wasted and it was great.

Clips are really short but still cool quality is not too bad
>>
Anybody have a list of essential bubblegum bass?
I know AG Cook, GFOTY and SOPHIE, but that's it.
>>
>>55312712
literally just go on PCmusic.com
>>
>>55310596
should have peaked already but good job on the y connections these lads have made to keep it alive. unlike the vaporware scene

music gets boring and annoying fast. Because of this ironic phase were going thru some poor souls will act like this is something supergood

poor kids
>>
>>55312810
PC music isn't ironic tho. It is actually good
>>
>>55312712
That's pretty much everyone essential already.

one of my favorite things about this style of music is that it's saccharine. It's like sweet to the point of being disturbing. sophie does a really good job of expanding on this underlying uneasiness with the super agressive percussion and the detuned synths.
>>55312196
opn would probably push the scary aspect of it even further
>>
>>55312864
it's not ironic and it's not good. don't kid yourself
doesn't hold a candle to 90's house

another banger that bubblegum shit can't even touch
>>
>>55313018
it's basically the style of music that was created by the pc music collective.

http://pcmusic.info/
>>
>>55313014
Well I said it's not ironic but I mean in terms of production and overall creativity PC music is definitely on another level then 90's house. However I can't deny that tracks dance-ability.
Although Pc music has some dance bangers you should check out https://soundcloud.com/pcmus/sets/deep-trouble
>>
>>55313053
Yeah this is not what I really was hoping for.
>>
>>55313053
Would be more interested in a SOPHIE OPN colab

When will there be a proper release from someone like A.G. Cook or Sophie? I always enjoy their singles and EPs, but an actual LP would be really cool.
>>
>>55313088
Is this what Hardcore is? It's like one of the last dance genres I haven't gotten to until Mumdance put out a Hardcore mix on Rinse or something, I forget, but it was fairly dope.
