Thoughts? I'm not convinced that the promise of blending 'dance music with miles davis type jazz' was entirely fulfilled but Baltang Arg is a wicked track (and do any of you hear some of 'Plotinus' in it?)

thanks for the link
uh, don't trust the whole "HRR DRR ITS MILES DAVIS MXED WITH ELECTRONIC MUSIC" thing
Squarepusher is his own entity
that said he has kind of been on a downward spiral for the last few releases
so happy I get to hear this right now though

>uh, don't trust the whole "HRR DRR ITS MILES DAVIS MXED WITH ELECTRONIC MUSIC" thing
yeah, I know people really liked to make that comparison with music is rotted one note and it's not entirely applicable for a lot of his other stuff but I'm just grasping for points of reference on this album
>he has kind of been on a downward spiral for the last few releases
I've enjoyed them all but everything post-ultravisitor sounds a bit hollow to me. no matter, sections of those albums have flashes of brilliance and I love the guy
it's crap
doesn't even sound like goldie
>>55178659
first listen this album is a track by track album, in that really it cant be judged as a full album easily some of the tracks are quite good, others are quite terrible
>>55178659
So far sounds like what ultravistor should have sounded like if he hadn't tired to make it a dubstep album. Like if hey took the same sounds and made a more d&b oriented album
fook m8. Thanks alot. I had no idea this was habbeding!

no problem. Here's an interview, one of whose lines is mildly amusing:
>Basically this company called Jagex commissioned me to make some music for them for a computer game, and then they cancelled the contract and they didn’t pay me a fucking penny.
http://thequietus.com/articles/17497-squarepusher-interview
Is this the natural conclusion of Squarepusher?

I'll try to get a squarepusher general going with the official release of this album
>>55181276
all of these comics are priceless
>>55181307
goddamn squisher
1st impression so far that it sucks, I really am hating the EDM and dubstep influence.
Its like he just made mashups of beatport top 10 and his own music.
>>55181307
well I just finished it. I'm pretty blown away. It was really fucking intense. On first impression, I'd definitely say Squarepusher has outdone himself with this one. Thhe entire album sustains such an amount of energy, coupled with multitudes of musical ideas flying all over the place.
I'm a big fan so far.
Gonna listen to this tomorrow morning. Minimal techno for me as I wind down for bedtime right now though.
>>55181423
glad you enjoyed it that much. When you say it sustains its energy, do you think Ufabulum does it in the same way? They both start out with this gleeful tune (stor eiglass really reminds me of the cure's 'just like heaven'), and descend into this ride where the momentum is kept up by longer and more aggressive ideas. The vinyl copy of this album has the tracklist reversed.
>>55181467
To me, it surpasses Ufabulum. Ufuabulum doesn't really pick up until Metallurgist onward imo.
With this record, each track eventually builds into this amazing flurry (fury) of sounds.
I'm not sure if I would want to listen to it with the tracks reversed because I quite appreciated the way they were. The first two tracks into Rayc fire worked well I thought.
>>55181467
/r/ing more squisher pics
I found it to be a lot more consistent than ufabulous. SPSHR really trimmed the fat.
Gonna listen to it in like 10 minutes. I'm pretty hype for it.
>>55181584
Man prepare yourself. It's pretty crazy.
bump for any plebs on /mu/ who don't listen to squarepusher
>>55181802
>not listening to your daddy
I liked it, overall most of the tracks are just good but occasionally there's this melody or beat that pops in and lifts the whole thing.
Not my favourite Squarepusher release but definitely one I'll return to.
