Facts that make plebs chimp out

>Slash is by far the most overrated guitarist to ever live
>The beatles were good but there is much better music contemporary to them and since then
>Nirvana is radio friendly pop-rock
>>
>Hendrix was popular because of his showmanship
>>
Swans is a well liked band now and isn't inaccessible to anyone that's listened to tool

The Beatles "fact" is simply not true but memes

This is mostly true, except that Soundtracks is still pretty inaccessible.

It's a radio friendly version of the Melvins.

sure
but thats not genre specific, most bands suck. for every good band theres 100 shit ones, no matter what the genre

Glad you understand that it's a more accessible version targeted to plebs in the flyover.
>>
ITT: i don't understand the definition of the word "fact"
>>
>>54915409
It's Shoved is much more accessible and less interesting in general, though.
>cleaner sound
>diatonic riff
>lacking the quasi-atonal guitar noodling during the verses and the "anti-solo"
>more straightforward punk structure and energy
The only reason you prefer the Melvins version is because it came first and it's less well-known. Prove me wrong.

this.

Yeah, that'll get them going!
>>
>>54915507
>Prove me wrong.
The reason I prefer the melvins is because I prefer metal over pop. I prefer the goth cobain is also liberally pulling from and ruining over metal, but nirvana is still at the bottom of that totem pole.
>>
>>54914505
>led zeppelin is shit
>Pink floyd aren't as good as you think they are
>Top 40's actually has good music, you just have to not be a pleb to appreciate the production that goes into modern music
>Freddie mercury died of aids because god felt bad for making us listen to that homo for years
>>
>>54915723
You were going so strong until you said that shit about top 40 man. You could make a case for Sia being worth appreciating and literally nothing else. Unless you like Trap Queen by Fetty Wap in which case i'm sorry your mom's abortion didn't take
>>
>music is a 6/10 at best
>>
>>54915723
>the production that goes into modern music
The production without question is the worst it's ever been. They used to use it to make up for the music being shit, now they use it to make up for the talent being shit.
>>
>Rating music out of 10 is for cucks

> majority of /mu core is really bad

Does one hit make Foster the People a top 40 band? I don't recall any of their other songs coming close to top 40 success

yeah that's kinda the "one hit" I was referring to

I really thought top 40 was just referring to the songs. One hit wonders can't be top 40 even though their song is in the top 40?

I don't get it
>>
>>54915185
The first part of this is actually true. When I came to /mu/, DT was in my topspot favorites with another band. Then I got good recs, in prog metal and widened my tastes a lot in other styles. If I had a fav ranking, they wouldn't be at the same spot anymore, still love them though.
>>
>>54915877
I extremely disagree with most of your opinions
>>
>>54915001
That's an irrelevant question; it is in fact impossible to stutter without speaking. Whether or not you stuttered is impossible for any of us to know because we wouldn't have been within range of hearing you speak.
>>
>>54916247
They're like the Pink Floyd of prog metal. Not bad, but shows someone doesn't really listen to the genre if they're a favorite.
>>
>>54915199

apart from "The Powers That B", which tracks? dubs can't save you now
>>
>>54914505
>I don't like Death Grips and I think they're overrated.
>>
>>54917386
Inanimate Sensation and that's about it tbh
>>
>>54914536
This surprised me. I loved tool in high school, stopped listening, only recently got into Swans but everything clicked instantly and wasn't hard to get into at all

People who know nothing about music theory have an inherently less informed and less valuable opinion .
People who don't play an instrument or do something similar like producing shouldn't even bother talking about music.
