What music is truely years ahead of its time?
>inb4 babby's first noise
the world will one day view merzbow in the same way they view mozart - ie inaccessible to plebs and high art created by a man of high intelligence
not neccessarily genre definig or revolutionary but it was 80' metal over a decade before the 80's
Surpised nobody said death grips
You can't compare deathgrips to anyone they have their own unique sonics and basically created a new genre. They're also constantly pushing the envelope of music and breaking genre barriers. I seriously don't understand how people think DG is a bad artist.
tfw we still havent catched on
>Merzfags actually believe this
>mfw /mu/ plebs only know pop musicians mere decades ahead of their time rather than literally centuries ahead
The one true answer.
I love how some people give Gesualdo so much credit for being "ahead of his time" with such uncharacteristic polyphony. He was really just undereducated in music, and wasn't that good of a composer. The simplest answer is usually the right one.
had no idea it came out in 96 I thought it was around 2002
the polyphony isn't what people think makes gesualdo is ahead of his time at all, it's the dissonance and weird modulations
you may have had a point, but the fact that you made such a basic error makes me think that you actually don't know anything
Anything Jimi Hendrix
l never thought of Suicidal Tendencies as ahead of their time but 1983? They really were. Even Pantera was dressing in spandex in 1983.
All memes aside, this album was decades ahead of it's time. Some of the shit in his album has a scary resemblance to things in industrial, and some metal, decades later. It was doing shit in the 60s that only started to become used in the mid-80s
>ahead of it's time industrial
>Ahead of it's time metal
Clear Light made a couple doom metal songs in 1967 and Kluster was making industrial in 1969/1970 (as in the Throbbing Gristle kind, not the rock kind)
Most groups that people say are ahead of their time are very of their time. Being ahead of your time implies playing music that only became popular years later, not being experimental since experimentation is normal in many time periods.
Love that album but I've never really understood these claims, it sounds very much like the other music of the 60's, not like later music (and if anything, a lot of the best stuff is thousands of years after its time)
subject of massive critique from the established community throughout europe until long after his death.
wrote dissonant melodies.
blended traditional folk music with classical
Op. 4 caused an actual riot in the concert hall in 1913
Shitting onto a plate does not make you an avant-garde chef way ahead of his time.
Making shit music no one's made because it's barely comprehensible nonsense does not make you an avant-garde band way ahead of their time.
You guys caught me! I am from the future. This album will be regarded as a classic, I assure you.
Also, its not incomprehensible. There is a clear structure and theme throughout the album. The fact that you cannot see it puts your ignorance on full display.
