>tfw there won't be a mainstream rap album as experimental, divisive, and unique as this one for years to come
>>
Critical consensus was overwhelmingly positive.
>>
>>54171265

>mainstream

keyword right there. industrial hip-hop has been done before many times, just not very well known. yeezus is one of my favorite albums, but saying it holds some title as "most experimental" is fuckin nuts
>>
>>54171286
not amongst your average music consumer. Critics opinions aside, many people who I know listened to it once and never touched it again because they thought it was pure shit
>>
>divisive

every single person worth a damn i know loved it.
>>
>>54171286
Yes, CRITICS loved it. But some casual hip-hop fans were once again, not ready for Yeezy's forward-thinking production. It's the fallout from 808s all over again.
>>
>>54171265

I can see him releasing another similar album in the years to come.
>>
>>54171265
Pretty sure his next one will be even more so
>>
>>54171597
Have you heard 4 5 Seconds? This is going to be his worst album by a large margin
>>
you don't know that OP
>>
>>54171265
I still don't understand this opinion. It was good. Nowhere near as good as MBDTF, but a pretty nice follow up...
>>
>>54171611

>people STILL don't know FourFive is a Rihanna song on a Rihanna album and the rumor that it'd be on Kanye's album was proven false
>>
>>54171611
That's a Rihanna song
>>
>>54171417

But they both suck anon
>>
>>54171611
That's a Rihanna song though. His singles so far have been pretty decent, but I'm losing faith in this album as time goes on
>>
>>54171624
>experimental, divisive, and unique
He said nothing about it being better
>>
>>54171265
>mfw white people always think something being experimental means its better than normal

you faggots have ruined hip hop this decade
>>
>>54171707
You're the only one that said experimental=better, retard
>>
>>54171707
This is a good decade for HH so far, even if Kanye has been sucking dicks since 808

>>54171265
in the midst of bands like Death Grips and Clipping and Run the Jewels I just don't get how people can think this is so "industrial" and "brash and aggressive"

production just sounds messy to me

I don't get this album at all

experimental maybe, but it was a shitty experiment
>>
>>54171787
ok MBDTF isn't so bad
>>
>>54171789
How the fuck is RTJ more industrial/brash than Yeezus?
>>
>>54171814
soooooo much more hard hitting. phat-er sound, for lack of a better term
>>
Seriously though, the last announcement I read said that 45Seconds would be on Kanye's album. Where are you guys seeing that it won't?
>>
>>54171915
The last announcements everybody ELSE read said Rhianna's album.
>"FourFiveSeconds" is a song recorded by Barbadian singer Rihanna, American rapper Kanye West and English musician Paul McCartney for Rihanna's upcoming eighth studio album
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FourFiveSeconds
>>
>>54171915
there was no announcement retard. Only thing Kanye said was it was for his new album and Rihanna really wanted it so he gave it to her
>>
>>54171814
RTJ2 absolutely is. El-P's beats are more grimy and aggressive than anything Kanye's team come up with.
>>
>>54171265
Yeezus just sounds very watered-down when compared to other experimental hip hop artists. People who praise this, thinking it's GOAT, probably don't listen to other experimental hip hop artists.
Kanye saw a trend in experimental hip hop, jumped on it, and did it poorly.

>myopiniontho
>>
I literally weep for the people who can't appreciate the masterpiece that is Yeezus. It reminds me that not everyone is born equal and that some people are just doomed to a life of misery in which they can never embrace great art.

I'm so grateful I'm not one of them but so sad that they have to exist at all.

Blood on the Leaves would actually be a really cool track if it weren't for that stupid fucking auto tune effect and the honky, trombone sound.
>>
Implying his new album won't be
>>
>>54171766
[citation needed for it being on Kanye's album]

This shit works both ways anon
>>

I agree. Yeezus is honestly one of the best albums Kanye has made.
>>54172137
>wahhh its 2 accessible for me 2 like it
>>
>>54171611
That's a Rihanna song.
Plus All Day and Wolves are going to be on the album. It's definitely gonna be Kanye's Magnum Opus

>>
>giving a shit about Kanye post Graduation
>>
I love yeezus but does anyone else feel like kanye is playing a character in the lyrics. To me it feels like all facets that we are expose to of kanye west the image. The sex (I'm in it) the arrogance (I am a god) the tabloid life style (blood on the leaves) and the anger (black skinhead, new slaves) all defining characterises that we associate with the image of kanye we see on the front of a magazine. Also the album is full of crazy contradictions that don't make sense, maybe implying that the image is taking over the real kanye. He also wore a mask for the shows. I dunno just my take on the album, it's kinda hard to take it seriously if it's not the case.

>giving a shit abour Yeezus pre Graduation
>>
>>54173378
Exactly.
Paul McCartney was a nobody before Yeezus blessed him
>>
>>54173354
he's being himself. he's just so aware of his own mental state and emotions that the way he portrays himself comes off as a little tongue-in-cheek.

like with the narcissistic tendencies vs self-loathing is the contradiction that sticks out the most to me, and that contrast fits perfectly. he says he's the best at what he does and he puts his heart and soul into it, but then the fame causes a ton of problems for him. he needs the fame to spread his message around though, so it's a constant back and forth struggle.

I don't understand how Yeezus is BRUTAL INDUSTRIAL EXPERIMENTAL HIP HOP. The first song uses a loud synth, but the rest is fairly standard fare, nothing that anyone would consider inaccessible or challenging outside of singles listeners.
>>
>>54171265
>experimental
Trap horns and reverb, auto tuned vox OMG MUHEXPERIMUNTUL
>Divisive
Yes divisive between people who have ears and people who are perpetually on yeezy's dick, and can only listen to pitchforkisms for their opinion.
>Unique
Trap horns, trap hi hats , trap snares, autotune, four on the floor kicks, scary trap melodies, beep boops, the occasional gospel/soul sample

Truly a testament to uniqueness, none of those have been done in hip hop EVER. THANK YOU KANYE!!!!
>>
>>54177102
i know that you're being sarcastic but when you think about everything you said is true unironically as well
>>
>>54171417
Yeah, when those TNGHT circa 2010 horns hit on Blood on the Leaves I knew it was a real forward thinking album
>>
>>54177119
I know you're a trip and your opinion should be disregarded but you can't be this retarded
>>

is liking Yeezus a new meme or something?
>>
>>54173862
He's created the most eloquent public persona, one where you can honestly never be certain if it's real or partially intentional. I would say he's a 21st century Oscar Wilde given all his indulgent effay pursuits and divisive response, but it seems a little dramatic
>>
>>54173354
The 'playing a character' thing is one of the biggest cop outs as far as lyrics go. I really like Yeezus, but I think people give him too much credit and try to find something that really isn't there
