Any UK anons have any grime suggestions?

After Kanye's performance with most of north London backing him up I want to get into the scene more.

I'm really enjoying videos like this with like 10 MCs jumping on the mic spitting like they're on speed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOIF7iUn-Z8

Anything really frantic and fast paced I can get into

Mid 2000's Macabre Unit stuff seems to be a favourite in terms of grime around here. Six ft. below sound 2 is great. Some real dark instrumentals.

Novelist is probably the best young grime MC/producer out right now.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b9-eflxM-4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaG2RyDxQlk

He was on stage with Kanye as well
>>
>>53935598
Most shit is pressed to 12" singles or played on radio stations like rinse. Mixtapes are rarely a thing, if it is it's likely a dj mix and was probably played on radio or at a rave/club/party. Grime is really a club genre, so home listening isn't massive if you're not Wiley/Skepta/Dizzee big

>tl;dr people release full albums or singles

Is it still? I knew it originally was, but I mean there's barely been any promotion for it. And this is Skepta's (and the UK's) big chance to break into the market with grime.
>>
>>53936150
probably not, would've leaked by now anyway

if theres a demand then they would probably come to you

thats the ting u americlaps don't understand
we couldn't give a hoot about breaking into some market. they make grime for the local people who understand the scene blub.

can't be having outsiders trying to claim our scene and recalling it rap like u americans always do ya herd?

but checkem out on youtube fam always got classics on their

check out all the radio sets most albums are bad
>>
>>53936248
I'm from the UK man. I see what you're saying but the artists need to get their money. Yeah they're doing it for fun but its still a real hustle. Just because grime becomes popular outside of London doesn't mean its gonna go all poppy and shit.
Look at what's going on in New York the past couple years. The beast coast movement is real, and its ended up with Joey Bada$$ doing extremely well with an album that wouldn't have sold jack shit back in 2010. He's making that trademark NY boom-bap and he's getting huge exposure.
Same shit's going down in London right now. Grime's been sleeping for a minute but its back in full force. Wouldn't be surprised if guys like Skepta and Novelist achieved big things doing this shit.

Plus if grime becomes sellable, it could do wonders for the scene.
In the past few years, we've lost MCs like Chip (who's kind of coming back but he's never gonna fulfil his early potential), Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Dizzee Rascal, shit even Skepta was gone for a bit.
If grime gets to the point where it sells, MCs won't have the pressure to switch to a style that sells. At the end of the day its their job.
>>
>>53936329
this

grime will never die as long as the guys active in the scene keep pumping out grime. artists can come and go but there will always be wave after wave of 140 BPM war lords

side note riko dan is a beat MC
>>
>>53936248
this is some bullshit
there's no musician out there who doesn't want people to hear his music
and 99% of people would love to make money off of it too
if these guys are as poor as it seems they are, i'm sure they could use the cash
>>
>>53936381
buy the music yo
support the scene
holla them on twitter
if more people got involved in shit like tweeting the artists to DJs, demanding songs at clubs or phoning in to radio stations, more grime would come

people need to request it and create a demand

Listen to as much shit as you can from all of these. Incoming opinions, JME is shit, Dizzee Rascal is shit after Boy in da Corner, BBK are shit, Jammer has never been a good MC but is an alright (not top) producer, the only grime worth listening to after 07 is instrumental grime as all MCs became terrible.
>>
>>53936393
The guys who used grime as a platform get ostracized by guys in the scene though

Its more so dont let them shit where they slept and forget about grime. wiley has made shit like heatwave, the rolex sweep but also kept relevance by dropping shit like the steps 1-20 freestyles all for free, his epic zip folder give aways, etc

its up to the guys in the scene to keep it real and keep pushing grime

kannye and drake can try and jump in but its the guys in the scene who get the blame for cheesy pop sell outs
>>
>>53936381
buy what?
every time anyone tries to get grime reccs, everyone says that no one actually releases music AND ESPECIALLY not albums, they say you have to go to the live shows or listen to the albums or the radio
so if you're anywhere except in London, i guess you're not listening to it
and i'm not paying to download single tracks on iTunes

if grime wants to survive or grow, you gotta make the music available to listen to, simple as that

(i've bought a Dizzee Rascal record before, btw, because he's put out a full album of a finished product)
>>
>>53936450
waifer
>nah nigga
low deep is some epic shit too yo
>>
>>53936497
lots of artists post thier sets on soundcloud, mixcloud, etc

plenty do digital releases too
>>
>>53936481
I see what you're saying, but how sick would it be if MCs could drop grime, and sell bare albums and get bare success from it. Same kinda shit Joey and the rest of Beast Coast are doing. They haven't had to 'sell-out' to get people to buy their shit. I believe I read somewhere that B4.DA.$$ sold more in its first week than Macklemore and Iggy sold in their first week.
Its shit like that that gives me hope that grime can be recognised as a genre that brings success, and not just pure underground radio station type shit.
>>
>>53936583
i agree
the more people who say they wanna listen to grime the better
people will always argue over shit but really it works out better for the scene. competition becomes fierce, the best talent gets brought out. it keeps going further and further
>>
>>53936432
nah lad grime is about the dignity mate. >>53936497
buy the music on itunes support the scene.
thats how it works in the uk
>>
>>53936635
yea i saw how it worked out for ya the first time when grime went all but extinct
it'll happen again
>>
>>53936497
I guess most producers and MC's just think about playing clubs and getting big in the UK. People listen on sound/mixcloud or buy vinyl. Worldwide audiences have never been a thing they thought they could reach, don't want to generalise but most of these guys come from kinda shitty estates or at least used to, and they do their music for the love of it, rather than making money. Nobody thinks they could get rich making grime... if they did that'd make me laugh a bit.
