Two Sails on a Sound is basically a blueprint for the sounds on Feels, and while the songwriting may be improved on Feels, it's not as interesting sonically or texturally

Along with Too Soon and Infant Dressing Table it's actually very gentle, which is what I meant when I said it's the blueprint for the sound of Feels. It's a smooth collage of sounds for the most part, and it actually sounds incredibly majestic, and here you are talking about "le epic noise". I prefer CS for acoustic AnCo, but I always have trouble arguing that point. It's probably because I prefer when they're more free structurally, but melodically they started to get really good on ST, ie Winters Love. Also, there's not a weak moment on CS, and on ST their are several

OK so to preface this, I'm not a pleb.

I've listened to spirit they're gone, spirit they've vanished many times, and while some parts are good. I always thought it was pretentious pleb-pop that was only remembered because of animal collective's later music.

It's not too abrasive for me, I just hated it.

STGSTV features their best songwriting until MPP, as shown in the progressive-pop ballads of Chocolate Girl and Alvin Row. It seamlessly combines their cacophonous, dissonant, free-form style with their gentle, sweet lullabies, which are mostly found in the vocals. I think this is shown in the first song, a melancholy juxtaposition of pop vocals and harsh electronics

I agree. It is all (deliberately) chaotic and unfocused, but nonetheless gentle. It is hard to pinpoint the rhythms and the arrangements, although the melodies are quite hummable and even serene.
