Post some 10/10 ambient albums to cozy up with tonight
>>53872767
Listening to pic related while I write a paper. It's the album that really pushed me to make music of my own so I love it lots.
>>53872767
The rest of Stars of the lids' discog is great of course. Basinski, Hecker, and Fennesz are great too. Can anyone rec me any ambient/drone that sounds like SOTL? specifically the tired sounds of

>>53873403
I never find anything new in these threads, can you please post something less known? I need something to listen to, my backlog is clean
>>53873590
Have you listened to the Dead Texan yet?
>>53873590
willamette
rec: Labradford - Mia Media Naranja
from same label as SOTL (Kranky) and similar style although it sounds more western.
>>53873734
Yes, thanks though.
>>53873789
I'll check this out, thanks!
>>53873590
>ambient/drone that sounds like SOTL
A Young Person's Guite to Kyle Bobby Dunn (or anything else by him)
>>53873733
probably those who are into ambient don't share much and/or there're not many of us who are into the genre
listen to pic related, p obscure but so beautiful
>>53873733
Don't even bother, they can't. It's like they were only allowed to post 10 albums.
Some recs
Gareth Hardwick / Machinefabriek - Gareth Hardwick & Machinefabriek
Brian Grainger- Eight Thousander
Paul Bradley - Chroma
Darren Harper Descend
grouper
>>53873733
Would you have any interest in listening to a 30 min drone ambient album I finished recording yesterday? If not I suggest Symbion Project - Immortal Game. The track "Our Breath Shall Intermix" is gorgeous.
>>53873839
Seconding Labradford, especially their album fixed:context. The track "Wien" off that album is really great.
>>53873892
fuck u
>>53873733
I would but I don't want them to become memes thanks to shit board culture
>>53873927
Ok.
>>53873939
If they are actually good you don't need to worry about that.
William Basinski's work outside of TDL is underrated imo

any publicity is good for the artist, you just don't want to share
Free your soul, pussies
What does /Mu/ think about BoC?
>>53873885
>>53873892
thanks a lot guys
>>53874027
link?
>>53873927 I'm really liking "Wien". Haven't listened to fixed:content yet, but I will tonight.
Pan•American did ambient far better than SoTL could have ever hoped to.
>>53873839
They were even signed to Kranky, how about that. Labradford is a solid choice as well, though.
>>53874072
Love them. Music Has the Right to Children has some of the best ambient songs I've heard, and though Geogaddi is a bit too loud to be considered ambient I still love it as much.
>>53874145
I'm glad you like it!
>>53874161 hm not sure it can really be said that anyone does ambient FAR better than SOTL. I'm interested though. What album should I check out first?
>>53874121
There's a link to their bandcamp in that post. I just searched YouTube and can't find it.
Here it is again

>>53872767

if possible of course

>>53874072
BoC are pretty much sub-mu-core, probably one of the most universally liked artists on this board.
>>53874217
s/t -> 360 Business / 360 Bypass -> Quiet City
I would consider Pan•American (side project of Mark Nelson [the guitarist and singer of the Labradford]) to be an essential "ambient" exploration.

>>53875141
fuck yeah man, love me some gas. listen to some deepchord too, especially the liumin album
godtier
>>53875348
I make music for ambient fans with ADD, a good chunk of my tracks don't break three minutes and still have an impact. It's a pretty cool niche to have.
>>53875348
just listen to 1 song then
how can i feel cozy if my heart is broken.
My everything atm, even when the dude at CD Warehouse chuckled when I got it, and asked if my friends would be impressed... Still vastly life-altering
>>53878394
>even when the dude at CD Warehouse chuckled when I got it, and asked if my friends would be impressed
sounds like a real douchebag
Straying a little farther from pure Ambient but this is still an extraordinary album 10 years on.
>>53878167
great album
>>53878463
Yeah it's like an ass ended way of trying to insult somebody just cuz the record is sitting on my shelf
>>53873939
die
Biosphere - Substrata
>>53878648
is there a chart for Biosphere?
what's his best or where should I start?
These are definitely some of the most depressing and repetitive threads on this board. The same old stuff again and again. Nearly everything that isn't old is garbage. Tons of "ambient" with cheesy drums and trip hop beats, basically the easy-listening and elevator music of today.
Sorry, I don't mean to be so negative. I'll post some recs. I'd love to hear some noisy/drony stuff, if anybody has suggestions.
Carve out the face of my god by Infinite Body. Excellent, noisy/drony ambient. It got some attention when it came out but I don't see many people posting about it.

This is a dude from Poland, I haven't listened to his newer album, but Hidden Scenes is legit:
https://sundrugs.bandcamp.com/album/hidden-scenes
Tired Sounds is great, but I've really been enjoying Avec Laudenum recently. It's like their transition record from Ballasted to Tired Sounds from their grittier style to their more professional sound, and it's calming as fuck.
This guy opened at some noise show I went to, cool stuff, great visuals.
Heathered Pearls - Loyal
https://soundcloud.com/ghostly/sets/heathered-pearls-loyal
Otto A. Totland - Pinô
Sort of a very ambient form of neo-classical if you're interested in that sort of thing
Dark, minimal, floating in the abyss vibes:
Eno - Neroli
Deathprod - Morals and Dogma
Thomas Koner - La Barca
NASA Voyager Recordings - Symphonies Of The Planets
>>53878394
Your friends should be impressed, this album is fucking great.
There was an album posted in plantcore thread yesterday that featured recordings of swamp/rainforest sounds and general noise. The cover had an Aztec crocodile statue on it. Anyone know what it is?
>>53877892
post it pls
>>53880905
Found it. Nevermind.
>>53881689
wait what is it though
>>53881689
>>53881726
would like to know as well
>>53875348
Claude Speeed - Sun Czar Temple
2015, only ~20 min
Synth-based ambient, similiar to BoC but without drums. Good and little bit underrated i think
>>53881726
>>53881977
Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement - Black Magic Cannot Cross Water

>>53872767

Just got into Tangerine Dream, fucking incredible.
>>53874072
Easily one of my favorites
>>53882835
there's nothing known about the group.
i guess it's a duo or some shit
the duo has some serious potential though, i would love another release from them
>>53878330
Embrace the peace within.

Great fucking album.
>mfw shamelessly self promote.
I hope you enjoy it tho.

Anyone else into ASC's ambient material? Time Heals All is one of my favorite ambient albums. It's really good for walking around because it progresses and the mood is pretty dynamic.
Also, bvvdub. Fuck yeah

I love that album so much. He released a follow up album that's 8 hours long, and it has the same formula/concept that Somnium had.

This is some good, cozy shit right here.
>>53884929
Thank you for bringing this to my attention, anon. I like it a lot so far.
This is some of the saddest and depressing music I've heard but it is super fucking good. Always makes me feel like I'm about to die of old age and Im just thinking back on my life in a painfully nostalgic way.
>>53878648
not that guy but just start with Substrata then explore his other stuff
it's a great album that is about as accessible as most ambient music is (very)
>>53873403

More people should know about Bruno Sanfilippo's work. Extremely relaxing music. Good for meditation.
