>Pianist Craig Taborn’s trio looks like a traditional piano trio (piano/bass/drums) but the final product doesn’t sound like any other trio out there. The unique sense of harmony and rhythm within the group almost gives it a sound that is closer to European modern classical music than jazz.

Yeah, they're insanely catchy but I feel like there isn't too much of an angle to their albums, aesthetically speaking.
I know I'm not explaining myself too well, but if there is any comparison to make, you should check out the Jean-Michel Pilc Trio's LP Welcome Home. It has more of an "angle" to it, but they might not even be the same sub-genre of jazz.

Sorry, I know its kind of specific but thats what I'm looking for. If anyone wants other suggestions I'll do my best to help out.

Recorded in 1953, but not released on Prestige until 1956, shortly after 25 year old Clifford Brown passed away in a tragic car accident. This is a severely underrated album and I highly recommend it, even if you're not a huge fan of jazz.
