Finally got Ableton installed today + my midi keyboard arrived

bretty gud day so far, what are some good resources to get into ableton? I want to record guitar/bass (this is fairly simple) but also do sample stuff and build some beats

I've always been interested in electronics but have never really known where to start. Would a little analog synth be a fun project to get my bearings? I'm a CS major who really liked the electrical side of physics so I feel I should be up for it.

You should look into the mutable instruments Shruthi, but I think it's discontinued. They might still sell of the remaining stock.

You should also look into modular synths like Paia, or Wiard

I'm too incompetent when it comes to electrical wiring to make something as complex as a synthesizer, but I've always wanted to make a spring reverb unit myself.

I've also wanted to cannibalize a few cheap thrift store cassette decks to use to make a homemade tape delay, but I haven't had enough time yet to figure out exactly how to rig one up since I'm wanting to use it for long delays which means the playback head will have to be farther away from the record head than usual.

There's the music thing spring reverb kit, it's a euro module, but if you can assemble it, you can easily figure out how to house and power it on your own.

That's quite a bit trickier. Cassette tapes just aren't going to let you record and read at the same time unless you crack open the cassette. It's a lot more feasible if you use open reel tape. At that point rigging up a delay is easy, but not variable, you'd need a second machine to get longer delays.
