Yes, the noise use was less accessible and more detailed on the first album, but don't you think that took away in part from its catchiness or how engaging it could be? I think CLPPNG and Midcity are great, just for different reasons. Yes CLPPNG was considerably more watered down and accessible, but in doing so they created catchier and more entertaining songs, at least in my opinion.

And it's not like they sacrificed their application of noise in creating the tone.

Story 2 used it's increase in tempo and noisy background as a perfect tool to display the frantic nature of the character's thoughts.

Taking off and Dominoes also exhibited static and in Dominoes a child's choir that was still very risky and worked incredibly with the emotion Daveed and company wanted to force onto the listener to reinforce their themes.

Feather was what got me into Nujabes at first, so that song will always be special to me. The Luv Sic series is great too, part 5 is so sad.
I think his instrumentals are really strong in their own right, but when he has shing02 or Cise Starr or Substantial on beats with him it takes it to another level. Some of my favorites are Blessing it, F.I.L.O, Thank You, and City Lights, as far as ones with artists rapping on top of the beats go.
