let's have a general thread dedicated to Krautrock, Berlin School, early Ambient and 70s Proggy Electronic shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gChOifUJZMc
Krautrock essentials for me please? So far I've listened to Neu! and I've loved every second of it. I love Kraftwerk and I've listened to Autobahn, The Man-Machine, Radio-activity and Tour de France.
>>53212970
I don't want to think in terms of essential and non-essential, but here are some recommendations:
- Faust
- Can
- Popol Vuh
- La Düsseldorf
- Rufus Zuphall

I compiled a list a while ago and I'm posting it. It's not just Krautrock, also has other stuff like Stockhausen. Hope you enjoy it.
Everyone's favorite Berlin School albums? It needs more love here.

Quotations by Walter Benjamin.
Are there any good new-wavy/ambient krautrock bands other than Popol Vuh?
>>53213871
danke
>>53213921
Tangerine Dream
Cluster
>>53213499
What's yours? I still have problems to get into these albums.
>>53213107
did he deliberatly skip future days in the discog just to fuck with us?
Just listened to Neu! 2 for the first time because of this thread.
God damn that might be better than the s/t.
>>53214149
The ones listed, aside from:
Node - Node 2
Cultural Noise - Aphorisms Insane
Peter Baumann - Romance '76
Christopher Franke - The London Concert
HEY, GUYS, WHAT'S GOING ON IN HERE?

This is weird. Future Days ranks among the best Can albums.
>>53213499
Any good Kosmiche Musik synth-based albums for a fan of the Japanese side like Yellow Magic Orchestra? Cluster and Tangerine Dream? Who else and what albums?
>>53214242
Thanks, I'll give them a listen.

Let's be good to the mother of us all, yes?
>>53214276
Haruomi Hosono's Cochin Moon is an obvious choice.
Tangerine Dream is easy. For that:
Klaus Schulze - "X", Mirage
Peter Baumann - Romance '76
Christopher Franke - The London Concert
Robert Schroder - Harmonic Ascendant
Redshift - s/t
>>53214254
>>53214408
>Cochin Moon
Great album, yeah? I used to hate it, but listening to his other ambient works like his coincidental music and his wonderful "Philharmony" puts it in better perspective.
Thanks for the suggestions. Currently filling my player with Cluster for work, but I have those queued on Soulseek!
>>53214477
It's a grower, but once you get into it it's pretty damn good.
Hope you enjoy the other albums. It's always nice to share my love for Berlin School/kosmische music around.
>>53212970
Faust
Fun little basic question, but what it y'all's favorite Krautrock album? Just asking to see if there'll be anything interesting I haven't listened to yet. I have been really digging this genre. My two favorites are probably Yeti by Amon Duul II and Hosiana Mantra by Popol Vuh
>>53214424
>Thanks, Robert.
Nice thread bump.
Are the Scorpions too pleb?
Bumpin, don't you dare die on me.
I Advance Masked

Mates sup ?
I like Cluster, Harmonia, Neu and their motorik sound. I also dig AshRa on same basis. I don't like Can's guitar-driven chaotic sound.
Where to go next ?
>>53215936
THESE Scorpions?
>>53213499
what do i do with the genre after Phaedra? I loved the 2nd track. the mellotron was absolutely beautiful
>>53218433
Listen to the other TD albums.
Get most of Schulze's discography before the mid-80's.

>>53222663
hi im reading the purgatorio its goo d o_o
>>53222730
Cool :) it seems so cool that you like Dante so much
>>53222873
yeah iit isnt as intense obviously because he isnt in hell anymore : P so it isnt really as dramatic but its still beautifuly written and cool i mean iferno is just a hard act to follow so it s understandable that it isnt quiteas good
theres a part at the end of a canto wheere dante just rants about politics like not even in the context of the narrative its like 30 tercets of him just sad and mad about florence and how fractured italy is hheh he was very passionate
what aret youreading :)
>>53223004
Ohh yeah I'd like to leave hell it'd be better to not be in hell I think... I didn't know he was mad about how fractured Italy was – is that why he wrote w/ the like 'multi-dialect'? That's all I know about Dante and also that he was aware that people might interpret things different than him
>>53223022
Right now I'm reading mostly for class –Merchant of Venice for one class, a lot of historical stuff, a lot of great poetry like Robert Creeley you should read him if you haven't :) and on my own time have just been reading "Leaving the Atocha Station" by Ben Lerner which is good
