What's your favourite traditional folk music?

Request, share and discuss here.

Here's the tiny library I have on this computer, feel free to request anything from it and I will upload it.

I wish I had my portably HDD with me that has a bunch more music.

I've been listening to Le Mystère Des Voix Bulgares (just then in fact), and loving it

last thread (full of mega links including what I've been listening to)
https://rbt.asia/mu/thread/S53078748

I went through all the bulgarian instruments and learned a bit about them. there's something so mournful about their vocal music and microtonal melodic lines
>>
>>53158556
If you want, I can pastebin the OxMu entry for Bulgaria.

please do. thanks

Just noticed that the bibliography, article and recording lists now have links to borrow the items through the university library. That might come in handy, I could borrow some CDs and rip them.

or how about when people from one culture fall in love with another, enough to embrace their traditional art forms.

A great example of this is Jero.

Jero is a black man from Pittsburg who studied Japanese throughout highschool and college.

When he got his big break in Japan, he fully embraced their culture and has become one of the most revered Enka singers in Japan.

is it? irish and scotish music are the first to come to my mind when someone talks about traditional music

Yeah, I'll probably do that. Seriously though noone cares about that and I'm on pretty good terms with some of the older ones. Plus you're 25 I guess? Most people in uni are around that age aren't they? I think you'll be fine.
>>
>>53158514

>>53162571
Most people in uni here in Sweden are between 19 and 23 or so. Most only do a bachelors degree (3 years), and start as soon as they graduate high school or a year after. Starting uni at 25 is actually fairly uncommon.

I don't want to be in school when I'm 30, but the only option for me at this point is not to go to school at all then.

Intellectualism is overrated as shit.
But we need at least some actual intellectuals, just so they can tell intellectual-wannabees to stop trying so goddamn hard, that it's not worth it and that it makes them sound dumb as shit. Cause who else is gonna tell them? Stereotypical jocks? Those barely exist anymore and will never be taken seriously.
Let's all be jocks, it's the best for all of us.
>>
>>53161395
awesome
>>
>>53162675
Yeah, that's why I regularly haul 50€ worth of books home on an impulse
>>
>>53162686
Honestly, the idea of "trying too hard" is dumb as shit. Try as hard as you can, the only thing that can happen is that you learn and better yourself.

I'm willing to blame at least a third of all my problems on anti-intellectualism, making me try to fit in with the "cool kids" instead of learning things in school.

He also released a 'solo' album which is really nice.

>>
>>53162780
>Try as hard as you can, the only thing that can happen is that you learn and better yourself

If by "bettering yourself" you mean "spiraling in a self-destructive and vacuous lifestyle made of shallow ego boosts and cluttering of your mind with useless information" then I guess you're right.

Intellectualism is unhealthy. It saps the will and the sense of self, and essentially turns the intellect into a parasite of the body, when the intellect and the body shouldn't be separate in the first place. It's very trendy nowadays but that doesn't make it a valid life choice.
>>
>>53162017
