Is download speed still an issue for people nowadays? Frankly, there is so much stuff to get and so much stuff I already have, I don't care whether my files are downloading at 20 or 200 KB/s as long as I get them.

Anyway, the Soulseek client I'm using displays each user's average speed so you can avoid the slower ones (some are ridiculously slow, but they're exceptions).

I'm not impatient. Records usually take one to three weeks to arrive in the mail, there are releases I've been looking for on Soulseek for years and still can't find, so waiting an hour or two to get an album is nothing.

Besides, I have almost three thousand releases in my library. If what I want to listen to hasn't finished downloading yet, I'll just find something else to listen to.

This Ukranian chick in my class was telling me about something similar. Like, you buy these mp3 CDs with hundreds of songs on them for relatively cheap. I can only imagine how fucking terribly compressed they are.

My max download rate is 25kbps and I still manage to have over 200 gb in my library. It might take a day to download an album sometimes but there are always other albums I haven't listened to on my HDD.

well for me personally the thing is that I am out of the house a lot listening to music and when, for example, I head off to university and want to listen to an album on the way I still have to download I prefer to have it downloaded really quick
