The archive, rutracker, what
Did people really torrent all of their music from TPB or is this just a joke I'm not in on?
Kickass torrents
>>52936876
Back in 2006 or something they stopped Doing that. Most they do now is throttle your internet.
>>52936916
this, all the good movies are there
I use rutracker for music (more variety) and kickass torrents for everything else.
>>52936903
is the site at .cr the official one? Like did they move everything over there after the raid?
>tfw enough buffer to use what.cd exclusively
feels good
>>52936868
I never used tpb to start lol.
And since this is a music board you decided to post it on, I imagine you also are referring to music torrents.
Enjoy 192->flac transcodes and fucked tags.
None of y'all use 31337 private trackers?
FREE BICYCLE VOUCHER
>>52936951
You'd be shocked the extent to which you can ignore the warnings and notices too.
Just use any of the cached copies until it's back in February.
Google.
is mutracker kill 5ever now or what
Listen, you can use beats music forever for free. Keep making 14 day trial accounts, they only require an email that's most likely taken ([email protected]), then you can stream anything that's on itunes.
if it's not on beats, i use soulseek
if it's not on there i search on kat.ph
if it's not on there i look for it on youtube or any site at all
Rutracker and soulseek
Private trackers can fuck themselves
>>52937411
what about spotify?
>>52937411
Jesus christ, you don't torrent at all?
I would have to be asspained to have to rip something off of youtube ffs

>>52938017
>>52937015
Yeah they're still there but I've noticed that there's a lot less seeders. I've searched for things that I've already downloaded and I find that a lot of them have 0 seeders.
Short answer: yes
>>52937524
never used it, do they have free trials you can do the same thing with?
>>52938017
but does that bump the file size up?
I always look at file size
>>52938534
yes
I used to transcode 128kbps to FLAC and put it on tpb. I did this for entire discographys
>>52938618
those are some serious implications you're serving up
how is everyone not using soulseek im confused? explain
>>52938017
>>52938618
what do people get out of this?
I exclusively only listen to local experimental music given to me for free because I am such a crucial member of this scene.
People bow to me. Bitches get wet when they hear my noise walls, people.

>>52938848
taking high quality sounding music, compressing to very low quality sounding music, then converting it back to "high" quality music (but it will sound the same as the low quality music).
Imagine 1000x1000 high res artwork. Then reducing it to 4x4 in MSPaint, saving it,then resizing it to 1000x1000 again. That's essentially what they're doing, if you want a more concrete example.
>>52936868
>he gets his music of public trackers...
>>52939963
The only difference is that the guys listening to 128kbps mp3s upconverted to flac won't even notice :^)
>>52938017
yeah, hence why I always check for frequency spectrum cut offs. If you upload a transcoded FLAC file to TPB and no one notices, that's not your fault, that's their fault for being fucking idiots.
Anybody know a good place besides rutracker to find opera dvd's?

Think its one of the invite-only sites like kraytracker or demonoid
On What, but there are some things not on there. Is rutracker generally safe, or should I be scanning everything I download?
>>52943296
invite or interview fggt
>>52936951
I use Time Warner Cable -- if I pirated, would it result in anything? The only files I've illegally downloaded have been from the archive here.
>>52938153
not that anon but it's free all access. you have to pay to "save" tracks and albums but a free membership gets you unlimited streaming
rutracker what and mutracker occasionally
I feel like I should really be getting my what.cd on.
Does anyone have any spare invites going?
I tend to use TPB, KAT or Filestube for more obscure stuff.
>using tbp instead of rutracker the first place
>>52943982
>Does anyone have any spare invites going?
Lot's of people do, including myself. You would however be pushing shit up hill trying to get someone to invite you though, since the rules state that if you get banned with an invite from me, I will get banned too. The interview is a test on your knowledge of the rules of the site. I'd want anyone I invited to know the rules well enough to pass the interview, and at that point why wouldn't they just take the interview themselves?
>>52943296
You don't have to pay exactly, but you're competing with around a hundred thousand seedboxes to keep your ratio up, so unless you shell for one, good luck uploading more than 1 meg a week.
>>52944041
>tfw invited my friend and his ratio is in the shitter
>I probably would have been safer inviting some random /mu/tant
thankfully I'm not responsible for his ratio (at least I don't think I am, the rules are kind of ambiguous about it), but I have no idea what happens if his account goes inactive or something
>>52944041
>>52944090
A TM posted here the other day saying that you don't actually get banned for anything to do with your invitees. It's just a deterrent to stop people sending invites everywhere
>>52944041
i understand pretty much all of the interview parameters and such, and i would seed properly. I just really get how to initiate the interview. The site is basically blank.
Also it's sad I know but an invite is just easier.
Soulseek, and this.
post you're ratio's
Can somebody get caught with Soulseek?
>>52944207
https://www.whatinterviewprep.com/
get an irc client, connect to irc.what-network.net:6667, join #what.cd-invites, and follow the directions in the topic
you might have to be patient, i waited for six hours before i got my interview going
have a speedtest result and ratio screencaps from other trackers you're on ready
>not on any private tracks
>friend invites me to what before he gets banned
>currently sitting on a 13 ratio
>>52944343
>>52944343
yea I've been queueing for about an hour and apparently no interviewers have been on for about 3
>>52944374
I had to queue for about 8 hours for my interview and the interview takes 1-2h. So only queue when you have nothing to do all day.
>not using soulseek
rutracker
better than anything else
>>52944433
Does the interview really take 1 to 2 hours? Because if you look at the preparation site its like only a little bit info. Takes like 10 minutes to read through it
>>52944433
>>52944343
>having this much time on your hands
I only use rutracker, but only when i have to.
I do nothing to hide my connections beyond just not seeding. Once it finishes downloading, i remove the torrent.

>>52938017
oh you cheeky devil
>>52944817
I just don't see how someone could want to be into music but not make the effort to get on the site.
I think it's equivalent to not having good headphones or speakers, except getting into what is free, so it's even less excusable.
>>52944796
this. I don't care if you practice your instrument everyday, or if you wrote a lot of beautiful pieces, I don't care if you're a musician who went to a university, and I don't even care if you have a giant CD/Album collection. If you don't get your music from what.cd you don't really like music.
>>52944298
never. been using it strong since 2003
>>52936951
Not true. I got subpeenied
>>52938017
could that be the reason for why I listened to some flac files and thought they didn't sound good enough for flac?
>>52944848
The entire what.cd community just comes across as a group of pretentious, elitist, arrogant fuckwits. Most stuff finds its way to mediafire or a similar site sooner or later, so I'd rather not have to associate myself with them.
>>52936868
kat.to
rutracker
for lossy albums i usually just search the archive/google and ddl
slsk if previous methods fail
private trackers aren't worth the trouble in my experience
>>52944848
How is what.CD better than Soulseek?
>>52944888
You don't have to associate with them, you just download stuff from there.
Like, saying "most" is on mediafire "sooner or later"... is that really good enough? Do you really even feel like a music loving autistic NEET like that? Don't you know you could do better?
>>52944888
>he associates himself with /mu/
>doesnt associate himself with whatcd
Literally the same thing & yet you're uncomfortable with it because "muh self respect".
You literally never have to touch their community, idiot.
>>52944899
Better selection, faster releases, faster downloads, higher quality standards, much better organization, much better ability to discover new music through it (collages, daily top 10, etc)... lots of reasons.
>>52944911
Yeah, it's good enough for me. And judging by the tastes of people on /mu/, it should be good enough for 98% of people here. I mean, if you're predominately into westernised music from the last 70 years, you're pretty safe.
>>52944736
>soulseek
>torrenting
You dumb fuck, when you torrent you download from multiple people at once, soulseek is just regular p2p, you download from one source. You're literally retarded
>>52944833
Wow you sure are ebin, you le not soulseek user cool guy. If you want to not get music easily then that's your problem
Kickass torrents. I rarely used the pirate bay when it was up, and have used KAT almost exclusively.
>>52944938
Better selection if you're a pleb.
>Not just listening to all your music through Spotify like a regular person
What's it like being poor?
>>52945054
Not that anon, not everything makes it to streaming services though, or if it does it's usually not right away at release.
I use Play Music for nearly everything but for some new releases and slightly obscure older albums I use Soulseek.
>>52944833
I use Usenet, you mongolian.
>>52945054
id use that if everything I listened to was mainstream.
most of the artists I listen to release their shit for free anyway. If not I just google a file sharing ddl.
>>52945054
>not buying all your music on various physical formats
What's it like being cheap & lower class?
>>52945054

>>52945163
>Not having a 50 room mansion to store all your physical crap in
>>52945220
well when you start listening to local/underground bands and stop following p4k promoting you'll find that Spotify doesn't have that much to offer.
>>52945184
How does it feel to be a pretentious cunt that sits and jerks off over his flac (it's a gimmick by the way) collection all day?
>>52945247
>being this poor and having to make up excuses why you don't pay for Spotify like a normal person
>>52936868
I can't believe that people still use this shitty site, is 2015 for fuck sake at least use rutracker.
>>52945267
that's a good thing you moron. keeps the good sites off the radar
