Post the bleeps you're working on, discuss others' bloops. Learn why the sound is delayed when you use a delay and why /prod/ can't collab.

Not really bleeps but I made this small thing a bit ago and like the way it turned out and you might enjoy it too!

these threads welcome all kind of production.
However, this isn't a sc/bc thread, so try to post wip songs only or people will get mad

there are so many different daws here that the best way to collab is to share midi

>sampled real sounds with a kick drum or synth kick
>more sampled real sounds, with synth kick. sounds like jingling keys or bits of wood

last link is broken
>>
>>52735390
that would work fine if we all made progressive house or some sht
>>
the best way to collab with multiple people using different software is to have everyone bounce down shit to audio. if you start passing midi files around then you need everyone to have the same plugins, same presets, etc. turns into a major headache.
>>
I'm curious, does anyone here have a full studio setup complete with hard synths n racks n junk? I know we all have our battlestations, but I'm all about gearporn and I get tired of seeing just a macbook with 2 midi controllers, an acoustic guitar, and a mic.

i think an interesting way to collab would be to lay down 1 track and pass it on, that way it doesnt matter what daw anyone is using since theyre just gona overdub

either that or just sampling would be more interesting ways to collab than just sharing midi files

A few guys do have full setups with hard synths and rack effects.

I just have a computer and an 88 key MIDI controller. as well as the usual shit ton of instruments

>>52737142
it's cause dey duym and haven't done it before. not saying they should throw out the midi, by all means if two producers are using the same tools and they can see an advantage then send some midi, but for a bunch of people audio just makes sense, if everyone has the same bpm and bounces from 0:00 it's hard to fuck up

I find it pretty easy for beginners. If you are already familiar with some hardware it'll be child's play
>>
>>52737473
it just looks a little daunting because the envelope and osc parameters aren't obvious

Finished this the other day. Gave it away for free as I realised I completely ripped off a tune that's much better.

>>52737310
if you're familiar with synths it is pretty accessible. the strengths of the synth are harsher gritty tones, it excels at digital sounding shit. the arpeggiator is fantastic as well
>>
>>52737299
Here's a chord progression. 110 bpm

something to keep ya going until the anon shows up. pretty much a C minori-sh feel
>>
>>52737615
oooh this is nice, ty anon Ill get back to you
>>
>>52737590
Isn't that a good thing? I thought the less obvious your parameters / gear you used are the most interesting it gets

>>52737595
It's still pretty good, you shouldn't give up. I'd suggest a better mixing, but doesn't matter as much anyway

>>52737615
Any tips? It's just one track so it won't take you too long >>52737473

Here's a little dream ambient I put together, literally only like 30 sec long, check it out of you like. But turn up your volume a bit because I think vocaroo makes my files a lot quieter, despite them being normal volume level on my DAW.

ooo very nice. never new the origin of that sound. reminds me of this track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0COn_wBP_0
>>
Im into breakbeat so does anyone know hwo to make their own drum loops they made have that repeated drum sample sound? Fuck i can't explain it. like that chopped sound at the end of the loop and at the beginning of it. Sorry if this doesnt make sense
>>
I need some help, and I'm still kinda new to production. I've recently gotten myself a new Behringer Xenyx Q802USB. I usually record through ASIO on ableton, however it shows only as USB AUDIO CODEC MICROPHONE in the MME/DirectX option of audio. This gives the audio a massive delay, and, of course, that makes me struggle with my recording. How do I get ableton to recognize the mixer as an audio interface? There are no drivers to recognize it, and the mixer itself has a usb interface. What do I do?
>>
>>52738219
Oh yeah, seems to be the same sample. Pretty bangin' track too.

Here's another I'm working on, all feedback appreciated. Atm is has two very repetitive sections, that's where I'm gonna mess with the 303 tone and put in some other little bits.

Has some great potential mate, just like you said, it's jut a tad bit repetitive
Mix it up and you're going to have a very acid dance sort of feel
>>
>>52738245
you're probably talking about a snare or something that sounds like it's going really fast, just put the graph in 16th's see if that sounds right for you
>>
>>52738332
this was my first thought as well

how do I make garage bassline sounds like this?

>>52738272
i like it! that said, I do feel that the 303 is "stuck" sonically, maybe automate the cut off? definitely an awesome start to a track. love the percussion ;)
>>
>>52738386
Thanks, I tried to make the percussion fairly layered and quite natural sounding, and yeah like I said, I'm gonna modulate the 303 quite a lot.

I know exactly what you mean now
Yeah dude it's just a 1/16 snare
Just snip your snare samples down to a very minute clip and place them at different velocities I would think
>>
>>52735390
i think it would be a very nice way of collaboration, to just share sound files of certain pieces in our production and someone else fucks it up or stuff like that

it's all sound after all
>>
>>52738502
Can only listen through laptop speakers atm but yeah sure.
Liked the bird sounds at the start, didn't sound cheesy like that kind of thing can do. Liked the main melody and the nice pads, it did maybe slight to drag a little bit but that might just be me having ADHD, but then when that slight crunch started to come in at the end I really liked it. I'd continue that bit and build on it personally.
>>
>>52738528
What are you even talking about?

I'm asking how to make bass synths like those, not about snares.
>>
>>52738725

Can honing my DJ skills at all improve my skills with hardware, DAW, live performance and workflow? It's fun but I don't know if the time would better be spent working on my own stuff.
>>
>>52739176
if you get a really good DJ and master harmonic mixing and dynamic mixing, you shouldn't have too much problems making good house/dance music and sure your live performance should be pretty got, but personally i think the time you spent learning to DJ could be spend better, because there is just still so much to learn after that
>>
>>52735245
>>52737299
Working on it in ableton this time, just kinda adding a few notes here and there. Sort of tied between exporting it in grand piano or organ.

said I was gonna post it under a trip; i'll post it in a bit lel. Like I said before it should kind of have a mfdoom/yonkers kind of vibe but feel free to do with it whatever you wish; as soon as it posted here it'll become public domain of /prod/

I finally got my ribbon mics ;_;

I ran down to the craft store and they had unfinished wooden boxes for $4. When I got back the package was on the step waiting for me. WHAT LUCK the foam padding the mics were shipped in are *exactly* the interior dimensions of the wooden boxes!

woooo! wooooo! woooooooo!

congrats anon!
come on, record something for us
>>
>>52739612
I'm actually heading-out to get hammered at my friend's place but I'll record some shit tomurrah.

And the two packages weren't quie the same, one of them fit perfectly but the other one is little thicker (and got kinda stuffed-up when it was boxed) so one is a like a glove and the other kinda just fits. either way, they were shipped in cardboard with foam inside, so this is way better anyway!

I asked this in a previous thread and didn't get much advice
What are your thoughts on the JP8000 as a first 'big boy synth' (as in I have the volca keys but I'm looking for something more versatile)? I don't care about the super saw, but more about the warm vintage pad sounds that it's said to do well. Any thoughts? People seem to either love it or hate it.
>>
>>52740807
it's always like that with /prod/ tho, we just don't post to get our shitposting needs of, we want to talk about useful and consent things

Any idea how I could run my vst's through my pedal chain and then back into my computer as audio? Or an I gonna need another laptop?

you wouldn't need another laptop. you could get a digital recorder of some kind, even a cassette 4-track for some added color, and then rerecord or transfer the audio to your laptop when finished.
